Differences between a fake eBay Ralph Lauren polo and a genuine Ralph Lauren Polo

I bought three Ralph Lauren polos, one real and two fake to demonstrate the difference between them. There are many differences but I have outline the most telling flaws with the fake polos.

I bought several fake RL Polos here in South America. One thing they have in common is that they run small. My guess is that they were made for the Asian market. The real thing fits me absolutely perfect every time and wears for 10 years. I bought them in major retail stores in Miami for over 30 years. They resist fading in the tropical sun too. It's a shame about the fakes. I even got one from Amazon.

the fabric is not as good, does not have natural stretch to it, the pony is a bit off (too thin), the label is a bit off, its usually always just black or another primary color with a pony. If its one of the striped ones its even worse. Ralph is known for the high quality of its material.

Most people buying these fakes are not concerned with them being real. They are either too poor to afford the real ones or trying to sell fakes to make profit.

Polo is all over the board with regard to where their clothing is made. Some polos are made in Sri Lanka, China, Guatemala, Indonesia, etc. Sizes fluctuate accordingly as can quality.

sizes fluctuate based on the fit and or where they are sold (Asian Markets tend to run smaller) but generally speaking a classic fit shirt destined for USA should be the same size regardless if it was made in Indonesia or China.

the fakirs usually just stick with the polos and tshirts anything that is easy to fake. Button Up Shirts are harder to fake for a variety of reasons which make them easier to spot. The more expensive, more creative Ralph Lauren they do not even attempt to fake.

I bought Polo Ralph Loren in Cambodia. I bought it ten years ago and is still in excellent condition. Maybe was real with little mistake that is not visible or stolen stock from factory or it felt from delivery track. Was bought in Central Market.

Rest assured Macy’s don’t sell fakes. Having 2 MM on size label dose not mean its fake as explained on the video. Incorrect information

The size is no parameter at all. I have lots of RL stuff that I bought between 5 to 10 years ago that are all marked M/M (bought in RL stores). I also have pieces form the same store that comes with a single M. I'm not sure exactly when they changed that for Polos. I still see pieces at the RL store (not Polos) that are marked as M/M. So yeah, button stitching, the embroidery, the quality of the tags are all good indicators, but not the size mark.

Those have the slash in the middle. These are for mesh polos where the M are on top and bottom where it should only be 1 letter M

I bought a Ralph Lauren Polo shirt on eBay. Well, sure enough it's fake. I should have know by the price. I went to complain to the sender and he had already shut his account down. I disputed the charge with my credit card company and they reimbursed me the money. Last time I'm buying a Ralph Lauren shirt from eBay.

@@vickf8042 Well, I should have known by the price. It was $33.99 for the shirt. You can't get a new one for that price. From now on, I'm being very careful what I buy on eBay as far as clothes are concerned.

@@MontyMars No problem, though. My credit card company issued me a full refund for the shirt so I'm not out of anything. I should have known better buying a Ralph Lauren shirt on Ebay for $33.99. I'm a 2XL and this shirt was lucky to be a medium, maybe even small. I learned my lesson!

@@garyp9906 Price is tough to make judgments about. If someone gets a legit RL item and no gift receipt, the store gives the lowest ever price back as a store credit. People on eBay want deals, period, unless it's a cool vintage piece even an authentic RL Polo is going to sell for about half of retail...

Ive seen fakes with a QR code but they lead to RL frontpage only lol. On my originals tho QR codes lead to the specific page of the clothing product u scanned it off, so thats a good telltale sign.

Not true what you said about sizing letters. I have bought 2 medium ralph Lauren polo shirts from department stores back in 90s & early 2000s. Both have M/M that debunks your theory it’s fake.

Not all your information is correct kind of misleading. There are genuine RL product comes with printed tags. Not every product comes with raised tag. The double M M on the size label I have seen them before on Classic fit polo shirts. Why would fake factory add a extra M whatever size it is? I think you need to educate yourself bit more about authenticating Ralph Lauren. There are many ways you can tell the difference. You forgot to scan the QR codes on all 3 polos.

I don't mind buying the fake ones as long as they look legit. So i would buy them. My coworkers won't ask me for the tags to confirm if they are fake or not. So who cares!! Just buy fake.

Not a good advice. The fake one will last a year in good condition, while the real thing lasts 5 years at least.
