Okay I just came across your channel like 4 days ago and I’ve already watched damn near every single watercolor video you have, also all of your “vlog” type videos. You have SO much to teach not only artists, but Humans in general. I’m from a tiny town in Pennsylvania and I spent my entire life outside, Summer, Winter, didn’t matter. I’ve always appreciated everything that nature has to offer and I’ve always always always made sure to be aware of my surroundings and to stop and take them in and admire the beauty of the sky, a field, a pond, or a forest. I’ve been painting with watercolor for a little over two years now and prior to that I believed that I had NO artistic ability, I was strictly an appreciative observer. I was pleasantly surprised when after a couple of months of learning how watercolors work and upgrading my supplies (the best thing I could have ever done) I was able to produce paintings that were pretty decent. My mother in law has a field of little colorful tulips with a green and blue background that is supposed to be the grass and sky. The tulips are basically little multicolored “M’s” with a green line and basic one stroke leaves. I painted it about 90 days into my journey and at that point I was all about loose style paintings, mostly floral, but most of all I was obsessed with having tons of bright, unnatural (but beautiful) pigments. My point is, she absolutely loves that painting and every time I look at it I cringe a little inside. But then I realize just how far I’ve advanced in the last 20 or so months and I’m dumbfounded. Watercolor is my absolute passion. I paint every single day, I have to or I’ll get super bitchy. I’m so excited to follow along to all of your tutorials because you’re an amazing teacher, the way you explain things, giving the reasons you’re doing certain things, totally clicked with me. And I haven’t even joined your Patreon page yet because I’m so broke from Christmas! Once I do, I’m confident that you’re going to be probably the biggest influence and certainly the person who has taught me the most VALUABLE information. I’ve ingested countless hours of so called “tutorials” on KZfaq over the last 2 years and in 4 days what you’ve taught me far surpasses what every other channel has, combined. Basically, you’re amazing, please don’t ever stop, and I want to be your best friend. Like in a totally not creepy way 😂❤

Good day! 🤩 Wow 🤩 what a wonderful and uplifting comment you left. Thank you very much for taking time and write this 👌🤗🙏 your words inspire to go and do more - I love to share and also paint every day 🤗. You have a nice place where you can also be very creative! Always keep your paintings the more time will pass the more live you will feel towards your first paintings. It is your path and we all have humble beginnings ☺️ Now I cherish my first watercolor paintings, look at them with love - that is my beginning and without those paintings (which are very simple) I wouldn’t be where I am now. Thank you 😊

I find hotpressed paper is difficult because it dries so fast. Do you use ox gall or some other paint media to make the paint dry slower?

Wonderful explanation of the differences between HP and CP paper, thank you for this! It explains a lot. But do you have a tutorial that explains the difference in water to paint ratio between HP and CP paper and how to use water/paint ratio on HP paper? I struggle with this. Do you use more or less water on HP paper? I hope my question makes sense 😔 Thank you ☺️

Thank you. Never knew that. But I haven’t seen the cover of sketch books mention whether it’s hot or cold press. Should we define them according to how smooth the paper it?

If paper is professional it will always be stated what is the weight of the paper, is 100% cotton, is hot pressed paper or cold pressed paper, size

Hi Kristine!! Been practicing with your videos for days now, I have a question, I have been using Arches hot press for a while but I notice is quite hard to work wet on wet on it, the colors lift very easily and it doesn’t mix that good, i like hot press because of the soft texture, would you say Saunders hot press does a better work mixing and working wet on wet? Just on time since I am in my last couple of pages and need to get new paper! Thanks♥️

Some few years ago I was painting on Arches but found it quite hard to work on - wet on wet isn’t easy and also paper absorbs lots if pigment leaving painting lighter. And it took much more layers to get saturated result. Now I’m truly happy with Saunders Waterford for larger paintings and my own sketchbook paper for smaller paintings and practicing

@@KristineArt Hi Kristine, I was about to buy Saunders but is super expensive in my country so I decided to try fabriano artístico hot press and came to said that I am absolutely obsessed with this paper!!! Every single problem I had with Arches is non existent with this one! Maybe is my art style but will defined try Saunders when I feel like I am more professional!!
