Great introduction to the typical domestic lighting cables 👍🏻

Thanks for this great video. Now here is my 3 comment to cables in central Europe (Germany, Austria and Switzerland). At first I have to mention that here all conductors are counted. For example: NYM-J 5x1,5 has 5 conductors with the crossaction of 1,5mm2 including PE(CPC) {brown, black, grey, blue, yellow/green). Here we must not add some sleeving to the ends. Brown, black, grey can be used as 3phase or in lighting cercuits as switching wires. But on the other hand we must not use the colours of any other purpose as live wire. Blue must be neutral (old installations not included), yellow green must be of course CPC. In Austria and Germany there is no L/L/PE cable available. For lighting switches you use 4x1,5 or most commonly 5x1,5. In Switzerland there your can order L/L/PE cables with brown, black and yellow/green. Of course halogen free cables are available and there use increase for the last few years.

I never twigged until the colours changed over in 2004 that the red+yellow+blue of three-core-and-earth matched the phase colours. I did feel dim when they switched over and it became obvious. Like Joe says, I'd only seen them in the context of two-way lighting circuits.

Can the white cable be connected to the grey with same colours. I wish they would bring back red as live stood out better

for a cable , twin and cpc cable for instance, with 6mm2 and in a domestic supply 240V , i have seen cables with 240/440V , ... and cables with 450/750 , so what would the adequate cable be for a domestic supply of 240V? if the section of the wires the conductor, ... say 6mm is the same, ... what is the difference, then between a 240/440 cable and a 450/750 v cable?
