It's not that people don't like electric motorbikes. It's the fact that when you buy an electric motorbike you need to insure it, tax it and what not. While with an e-bike you have none of that. So its an easy way to travel fast and far without having to pay extra for taxing it, insuring it and registering it.

They’re doing quite a bit of that in Canadian cities. Trouble is that in the Canadian winter e-bikes aren’t the best mode of transport. But I agree. All roads should be built with wide shoulders for bikes.

@@DifferentSpokesTV The winters truly don't matter if the infrastructure is there and maintained. Over in the Netherlands and other biking-aware Euro countries, there's just as much (if not more) snowfall than the inhabited parts of Canada, and the biking doesn't stop in the winter just as the driving doesn't. The road crews just plow the bike paths, too. So incredibly simple.

I have a Lectric ebike and a Ruckus. I never ride the ebike. Ruckus is a lot more fun. And I feel a lot safer. I wouldn't ride either one out by Walmart, but the Ruckus is preferred for running errands around a small town. Being sweaty and out of breath is not appealing, to anyone.

i doubt that outside of specific countries that already do have affinity for bicycles that there will be massive surge in popularity of them. Most people tend to use most convenient and effortless means of transport, in cities that tends to be metro and or tram (in some less civilized countries individual motorized means) out of the cities that tend to be buses and cars, occasionally replaced by motorbikes in specific cases. Cycling tends to be a hobby rather than main means of transportation, that being said considering costs i do not believe even unasisted cycles are that avalible, i was taken aback by price of even the cheapest new one some 2 decades ago and i doubt there were any cost cuts since.

Depends on the city I guess. In Toronto, Hamilton and Ottawa I see more e-bikes than conventional bikes these days and I get why. They give older or less fit people a chance to enjoy the outdoors without dreading all the hills on the route.

Energica is a far better electric motorcycle than Zero will ever be. I would pay CVO money for a Electric Electra Glide. There is more than enough weight to shuffle into batteries and the wind protection will improve mileage and the bags are the one necessity that most if not all EV motorcycles are missing. Having coworkers with e-bikes they suffer from the same issue many motorcycles do, suddenly it is too hot, too cold, too wet, or many other excuses.

Range is not a static thing in time. As batteries and charging improves, so will range and ease of use. Lithium Ion batteries have only been around since 1991 - 30 years. What was the combustion engine like after 30 years of development? Just for a starter, the first commercially successful internal combustion engine was made around 1860 but patents for ICT engines date back to 1807 so what were ICT engines like 30 years after the fact? Pretty shit. Lithium Ion batteries power density has gone up massively, the life span of each battery has gone up dramatically and charging time has decreased enormously in that time. Imagine what it's going to be like in a decade.
@steveh7108
@steveh7108 Жыл бұрын
The advancement of lithium battery is undeniable. Equally undeniable is that it is far from ready to be shoved down the throat of consumers. When it is desirable people will stand in line and the success of the consumer will increase it's advancement. Right now battery powered tools and bicycles are great and people are loving them. Let the consumer to continue to push the advancement of that technology and eventually it might be good enough for motorcycles or automobiles but not anytime soon.
@DifferentSpokesTV
@DifferentSpokesTV Жыл бұрын
Good points but development moves much faster now than it did in the 1800’s because we have many more companies with huge R&D budgets doing research. Progress that would have taken decades in the 1800’s is now made in under a year because tech improves exponentially and not in a linear fashion. Also, producing the batteries is pretty dirty so vehicles that use them have to put on a lot of mileage to ultimately pollute more. Cars may hit these mileages but motorcycles are recreational and many may never get there.

If Tesla could build a motorbike with an approx 20KW battery that could use their charging network and had 150KWH charging ability then I think it becomes a viable option - until then, big electrics are a hard nope for the masses.

Just drove up to my cabin and saw that the gas station half way up is installing a bunch of Tesla chargers. Writhing the next five years e vehicles might become convenient. However, e-motorcycles might be worse for the environment than gas because you have to ride a lot to offset the environmental impact of producing batteries. Most bikes never get to that mileage in Canada because they’re toys, not commuters.good for high mileage cars, but low mileage bikes might actually be dirtier.

Energica has a 400 km range bike that recharges in 15 minutes. That's 250 miles...farther than a sportster. And, that's just happened in the last 5 years. Five years from now, they'll introduce a thousand km range. Live wire is a joke, and zero is a money grabbing customer service nightmare. New charge stations are going up every day, so the infrastructure will be everywhere soon. At this second, electric is a bit of a struggle for the average person, but it will advance just like it did with ice engines replacing horse and buggy.

My fart weighs 120 lbs. I would buy it via some affiliate link, so place one for the German market supplier and give me a response. Specs according to the German cite: 160 kgs total weight to carry.......I am far heavier than you, but I am even further away from 160 kgs. 60-100 kms max speed in the EU 25 km/h, it ceases to assist above that speed. For me it is quite an option, I plan to move out of the city having to go 20 kms to work in the future. That would allow me to do some serious physical activity and financially this would be zero expense if I ride it to work for three or four years.

Hello because of a good Himiway bike After 3 weeks and about 15 km it is defective (no more pedal assist) After I tried the support they wanted a video from me with the description of the problem, what I had done. The driving assistance via hand throttle worked perfectly, what I showed in the video. And what email came back from China ??? a video how I can speed up the hand throttle illegally, with the statement that they helped me with it ????????? I think the Himiway Service in China can't even watch video properly. I've only had the bike 3 weeks and already have a neck on Himiway. I hope for you that you never have to use the service, because the support in Germany gives the problem also only to China, because nothing else comes from there either. Have fun with your Himiway and hopefully never a warranty case. Hallo

I'm getting tired of agreeing with your videos but I have to do it again. The future of electric vehicles lies with battery/electric power tools and e-bikes. The technology has been making huge advances that make ownership of e-bikes and electric power tools extremely desirable. The reasons are numerous and should be obvious. But when it comes to electric cars and motorcycles being shoved down our throat the technology simply is not there yet. Let the free market decide because it is clear that the competitive nature of the e-bikes and power tools will continue to improve battery technology and eventually it might be Advanced enough to apply to a daily driver car but only when the free market decides that it is what they want.

Thanks! I am seeing a lot of improvements. On the way up north to the cabin today I saw a whole bunch of Tesla chargers going into the gas station at the half way mark. For the first time it might be viable for us to get an electric car. That’s what will sell them - convenience.

@DifferentSpokesTV
@DifferentSpokesTV Жыл бұрын
True, but either they’re over 20k or the range is limited. Many of my rides go over 100 miles and there are no quick charge stations where I ride. If there was an e-motorcycle with a 100+ mile range for around 10k and the infrastructure was in place I’d be game. Maybe that will happen soon, but not yet where I live. Plus, in order to make e-vehicles actually environmentally friendly you have to put a lot of miles on them. Most motorcyclists won’t ride far enough on their e-motorcycles to make up for the environmental costs of building batteries.

Why are all these E-Bikes fat tire disasters. I'm dropping my 2.8s to 2.1s on my converted bike. My mountain bikes run a 2.2 and my most aggressive gravel bike tires are only 45mm (and I'm not a fan of them on pavement). Fat tires are slower on pavement, more taxing on your e-bike battery, less nimble at handling tight turns, and tougher at uphill climbs. They result in bikes that are heavier, harder to transport, store and swap out tubes.
@DifferentSpokesTV
@DifferentSpokesTV Жыл бұрын
Some good points and I’ve wondered the same thing. I’m guessing that if you want to put a huge battery in it and produce lots of power you will have to make the bike very solid which will make it very heavy. In this case only the bigger wheels will be able to carry the load.
