Nella frase Al minuto 6.10 avrei usato il past progressive "I have been thinking" e no I have thought. Ci penso da tanto tempo vuol dire che ci ho pensato e ci penso ancora, quindi l azione non é terminata ma continua per un periodo piuttosto lungo, rather than I though which means I had a though about something in a particular and precise moment in the past. You can't add "est" to fun because it is a noun. More fun than or the most fun. Although when it becomes an adjective "funny" you add either er or est. Funnier than or the funniest ... Did you call me while I was sleeping? It's been 3 years since we saw each other. It's clear that the current situation in the US is even worse. This year might have been one of the most fun years of our lives. I've been thinking of it for a while and I've just realised that I don't wanna go away. It's been a tough year up to now but it might be worse. The more I eat the more hungry I am. The option was either to stay at home doing nothing or to get out to risk it. What's your opinion? Sempre in questo caso non dovrebbe essere tradotto come avverbio di frequenza perché la situazione potrebbe nel futuro essere peggiore, ma non se ne ha la certezza, mentre always sta ad indicare una azione abituale, di cui si ha la certezza. Che ne pensi? Grazie.

Per dire sempre più si potrebbe anche usare "increasingly + avverbio/aggettivo". Me lo hanno insegnato alla scuola per interpreti e traduttori

Tried to translated those myself, had a couple problems on the last three. These were my answers: -It has been a tough year so far but it could alway get worse. (Is "get worse" in this case acceptable?) -The more I eat the more I get hungry. (Same deal as before, is "get hungry" a thing you can use here?) -The choice was between staying at home and not doing anything, or going out and risking it. (I used continuous here rather than infinitive, is it still ok?)

Alla terz'ultima invece di be worse io avrei usato get worse perché nella frase potrebbe essere peggiore si implica che debba andare peggio di ora e quindi peggiorare. Grazie comunque per le spiegazioni sei stato molto utile.

D'altronde anch'io sto seguendo il metodo che hai seguito tu per imparare l'Italiano: semi full-immersion, cioè andare direttamente a parlare un sacco coi madrelingua senza studiare più di tanto sui libri. A questo proposito, spero non ti secchi se contraccambio con qualche suggerimento sulle sfumature nelle frasi in Italiano che hai proposto. "Si vede che..." così da solo in un'affermazione isolata suona piuttosto strano. E' più corretto usare "è evidente/chiaro che..." o quanto meno rafforzare il verbo 'vedere' con "si vede bene che...". Inoltre, quando si parla di qualcosa che è in fase di evoluzione (e se lo è, l'aggettivo 'attuale' non è appropriato, dato che è un riferimento temporale statico), è più corretto usare il verbo 'divenire' e metterlo al gerundio: "Si vede bene (=è evidente/chiaro) che la situazione negli USA sta diventando sempre più grave". Oppure, se si vuole parlare specificamente della situazione attuale, "... che la situazione attuale negli USA è peggiorata" (il cambiamento è già avvenuto e, rispetto allo stato iniziale, la situazione è ora ad un diverso livello, quello in cui viene staticamente descritta). L'espressione "...sarebbe potuto essere..." credo non si possa proprio usare (due verbi 'essere' così vicini tra loro in Italiano sono come una doppia negazione in Inglese). L'espressione corretta è "...avrebbe potuto essere...". L'aggettivo 'tosto' è assolutamente colloquiale, ma, per quanto mi ricordi, in Italiano l'ho sempre sentita usare con significato positivo (un/una tipo/a tosto/a è l'uso più diffuso). Io direi piuttosto "... un anno duro (difficile)...". La seconda parte della frase invece è a metà strada, nel senso che non è chiaro se si riferisca alla parte di anno già trascorsa o a quella che resta. Nel primo caso si dovrebbe dire "...avrebbe sempre potuto essere peggiore" (ma non lo è stato). Nel secondo "... potrebbe sempre diventare peggio/peggiorare" ('essere', come detto, non è adatto per esprimere cambiamento). Quando il verbo all'infinito è accompagnato da preposizione, questa di regola gli resta 'appiccicata' (come si dice qui a Roma), per cui invece di "... era di o restare..." si dice "...era o (di) restare...". Inoltre in questa frase il suffisso di 'rischiar-lo' manca del necessario riferimento. Avrebbe avuto un senso se la frase fosse stata tipo "... di restare a casa col sedere sul divano a non fare niente, oppure di uscire e rischiar-lo (il sedere)". Per come è messa la frase sarebbe adatto "... uscire e rischiar-sela" (suffisso con riferimento indeterminato) o anche solo "... uscire e rischiare" (anche l'infinito ha valenza indeterminata). :-)

Per tradurre bene, bisogna partire anche da un italiano espresso bene (e non parlo di te, ma degli italiani) 😉 Esempio nr4 corretto: "questo anno AVREBBE potuto/dovuto essere...", NON "sarebbe". Nel parlato diciamo "sarei dovuta andare"... ma è sbagliatissimo. Si dice "avrei dovuto andare". La maggior parte della difficoltà italiana a tradurre verbi e tempi in inglese o tedesco, parte proprio da un uso grammaticale sbagliato dell'italiano.

Molto + utili le traduzioni dall'inglese all'italiano per capire come si costruisce la lingua inglese e sottolineare le differenze con la costruzione della frase italiana corrispondente. Nel parlare l'Inglese non bisogna tradurre dall'italiano all'inglese MA USARE DIRETTAMENTE LA COSTRUZIONE INGLESE. Dunque questi esercizi sono addirittura contro producenti. :/
