I had never seen a snake in my garden before, but your movies have alerted me to them. So yesterday, while working in my garden, a long snake slithered by me and I froze! After he was gone, I said out loud, “Oh, Jes!!! Now I know how you feel!”

Your garden is beautiful - no matter the season. I don't think I've ever seen two people work harder in their garden. The final product is worth the labor. Great job!

We used to gather walnuts, dry them out, shuck off the husk, crack open and save the meat. Then use them in cookies, banana bread or what ever. It's a bit time consuming and takes a lot of walnuts but worthwhile. Those grasses are great for Winter interest and for the birds Winter protection. Your hard work is showing in the beauty of your place. With all those rocks burping up.. the nick name "Rocky Top" for your place comes to mind.... lol Bless your hubby for helping.

Look on the bright side regarding the walnuts. We had 4 walnut trees and we cut them down because the walnuts were a pain to keep picking them up. At least you have the squirrels to pick them up for you! Haha!!

Filling up buckets is the smartest fastest way to do it anyway... shoveling takes more time, more labor, and is messier.. I used buckets for my big truck of compost this summer, and it was so much better. Then I could put it exactly where I wanted it without spilling it across other plants. When shoveling, it can fall off the shovel and be messy. I love those grasses! I'm going to get more grasses in my yard!

You could put in a bubbling water fountain for sound near the pool. ..or do a large container with annuals...can do winter things in it too like red dogwood twigs or cabbage, pansies pumpkins earlier. It is a nice thing to have, water can be so good for you, especially if learned to swim at young age. Sticks with you.

Looks so nice. The squirrels and chipmunks are having a great time. I used to have a squirrel come to my patio door almost every morning for a peanut. He was a black squirrel I named him Alex. My neighbor (I lived in a townhouse) always had his speech on how bad it was that I was feeding a squirrel a peanut. That what is doing was taking my peanut and burying it in his yard. I said well I guess I can get my peanuts from all your peanut trees one day. Meanwhile, my other neighbor had a squirrel feeder with corn on it all year round. 💖💖🎶🎶

They're cute but can be destructive... I try to deter them They up root my freshly planted bedding flowers, tore the phone wire on my house, can get into attics, steal all the birds seed even if you give them corn, etc.. They belong on the woods.

Summer may be waning, autumn deeper everyday, but your garden is just beautiful. The cleaned out area looks great, also really like the looks of that grass, which I'm usually not a fan of. I have squirrels that collect pecans, I don't think they have a clue where they bury them, my place would like a pecan tree farm if it were left to nature.

Those are black walnuts. Delicious but very messy. You have to wear gloves and old clothes to harvest them because they stain clothes and skin. Glad the squirrels can harvest them.

How are you able to have so many beautiful plans under walnut trees? I thought walnut trees didn't allow plants to grow under them.
