The “kids are stupid/get bored easily” seems to be a common opinion for creatives behind the current iterations of long running franchises despite those franchises showing growth, maturity and complex storytelling in the past.

Confirmation bias. I wonder how much is it about the 'kids' vs profitability and cutting costs. Following an episodic formula helps more with the later imo. They are feeding into what they already "believe", not the other way around.

Which I really hate cause sorry for the constant comparison (I hate it too but it always comes up) but whenever compared to Pokemon, that was one of the main draws for Digimon. Darker tones, character growth, overarching plots, though recently it seems the reverse is true now (At least for the anime). I really don't want to see Digimon go down the wrong path again then be forced to claw their way out of the grave once more. I personally still enjoy the anime but the pacing has got to change soon as the anime is the main gateway for other media such as games, card games, etc.

the most successful kids shows treat their audience like adults and just focus on good writing. I cant speak for the kids these days but I remember appreciating animated stuff with darker tones. It made me hone in and want more. People say comics are for kids, and kids only too. It is sad.. The reason why people think kids have no attention span is also because that is how they write off the younger generation. Great stories can be told if people are not afraid of selling something to someone with no attention span. Attention will come with good story telling.

I agree, but Digimon is made for selling toys, games, and accessories. Past 5 series shown you serial story telling can’t beat episodic series like Pokémon which is also created for the same purpose. Popularity of Digimon never surpassed Pokémon in Japan.a Let’s also not forget how production pressure created the Blizwargreymon plot mess, where episodic method can easily slip in such changes. Matter of fact if you look at other on going series selling games/playing cards, majority went episodic instead.

But, you got to admit that this show biggest flaws is they barely do anything, even though it's a episodic series there so many thing that's happening in the show, and nothing happening. The current team are lazy and too busy going on with their boing everyday life by doing whatever they want rather than focusing on the important stuff that's happening in their world. For me, Ghost Game had a strong start that honestly hooked me for a long time as there are some great individual episodes but then again, there's isn't a big plot other than Hiro's Dad which is a bit disappointing as the Black Agumon appearing, more character growth, etc could have helped this series more. I still really like Ghost Game for what it offered but it could've been a bit more better. I'm willing to give this series more time up to the final episode when it happens to see how things will change and if it can improve the series more.

The thing about Ghost Game is we don't know how long it will go. All Digimon series usually go for about 50 episodes (I count Xros Wars season 1 and 2 as one season while season 3 as a separate season entirely). The season with large amounts of episodes is the new reboot 2020 Adventure with more than 60 episode surpassing all other season if you count Xros Wars season 3 as separate season.

It was right around that time when they were roughly thinking of the proposal to have the Digimon series to be “episodic” and “with a horror feel”. I feel like the easiest answer ever to fix so many of these issues is to just make some mysteries two-parters. Because some of these episodes ABSOLUTELY needed way more time to develop the ideas of them. AncientSphinxmon trying to revive Pharohmon is such a great idea! Why not expand on it? Have Part 1 be them setting him up and doing the riddle thing, then Mummymon gets involved, AncientSphinxmon overpowers them, and the pyramid is completed. Then you get an entire second episode all about learning what Pharohmon's deal is, setting up Ruri's arc, paying off her character by... I dunno... having her use her music knowledge to solve a riddle or something......? And then you get her defeating AncientSphinxmon before helping Hiro and Gammamon beat Pharohmon. You could build up these side characters a bit, show some worldbuilding and lore, still have a compelling mystery, and set the stakes so the evolution feels worth it. Maybe explore Mummymon's relationship with these Digimon and his history a bit. And because it's a two-parter it's still pretty quick and self contained within that format. Instead we just get this rushed plot where Sphinxmon wants to revive Pharohmon, then Ruri just gets a Mega out of nowhere, we beat him, and that entire plot just dies with all the potential and intrigue going completely ignored. It's not really the worst, but for all the stuff you could have done with it, it's just such a waste... Alternatively, just have a few recurring antagonists. Hey, remember when Myotismon and his vampire group escaped? Have them come back. Matadormon can do some Matador themed thing and then he reveals himself and goes GranDracmon. That's still a unique setup, and you can have characters be like "Oh crap, it's that guy from that one past episode!" Remember when Datamon was literally experimenting on people? That's such a fun idea, just a mad scientist Digimon that does mad scientist things. Why not use that for more stuff? Datamon could be the one behind multiple mysteries and the gang has to fail a few times before finally catching him. That would give us stuff to speculate about and give Datamon some time to build his motives and character a bit so there's more weight to his character. But nope, just one and done. Just like everyone else.

I was doing a Ghost Game podcast while it was coming out week to week, and this basically explains my issues exactly. Lots of formulaic plots that felt repetitive, non-existent narrative between episodes, and LOTS of hints throughout. I genuinely liked some of the episodes, but other ones just flopped super hard. And the ENTIRE time we were just slowly giving into nihilism at the realization that none of it would actually matter at all. I've never felt like I've had to struggle more to talk about an episode than I did when we were 50 episodes in and the plot was still just "A bad digimon appears, does a bad thing, we're retroactively told what the deal is without any real hints, and then they beat it." Like it doesn't even really function as a mystery show because you're not given enough info. But it'll absolutely go out of its way to work in all three main characters and what they're doing that day every time whether they're relevant for the episode or not. Just absolutely absurd how poorly thought out this was at points.

Ghost Game is a mixed bag of quality. When you look at it's parts individually it's all really good. The Digimon being shown, lore stuff, even stuff like ecology for Digimon or the nods to the fandom here and there. Individually it's always fun to look at and talk about, but as you said it's kind of tiring week after week after week for no progress to be made. Take Gulus as the best example, first time he showed up, there was LOTS to talk about, his personality, his bond with Hiro, the fact BLACK AGUMON showed up in the anime. But beyond that, those were just questions left for us to mull over until we were given our next few bread crumbs. But the problem is rather than crumbs from the next slice of the loaf, we got less crumbs from the same slice. Gulus appears, kills Arukenimon, he reverts, BlackGargomon appears. It DID at least give us something, that Black Agumon's not the ONLY Black Variant Digimon to be watching things. Then, once again, same slice of story bread, he appears, he reverts, then Black Growlmon is shown watching. This literally added nothing else beyond another black variant and leaving us wondering what's going on. And you CAN'T have a mystery or story that just wraps up in the last episode. But I guess we'll see.

As said, the problem is not the show and its premise, the problem are the writters. They change from a slew of episodes to the next and that is what skews the flow and makes it swings back and forth from the saturday-morning cartoon to a serial anime, to eventually use the last episode to squeeze everything in the last moment and call it a day for that generation. Too many oddballs in control of the script and outlining everything awkwardly because they are forced to shoehorn the traditional digimon formulae while trying to keep the pace of the rest of the anime, and that takes minutes of precious filming that could be used for something else like bridging scenes or giving some storytelling. etc /

Writers changing is normal, especially in an episodic tv show. And the show has never skewed to being a serial anime. Tossing in some overarching threads suddenly doesn't change the show into a serial show.

Talking about Espimon is trivial and that you’re treating it like a flaw.” I like GG, especially with the inspiration of ghost stories being implemented in digital life forms, even the individual episodes and the characters, but you can also have things you don’t like about it and want to improve. You did say you’d like it if it was solely episodic or continuing to dive into the mysteries which I also agree and prefer as well. The show doesn’t balance that well and leaves people wondering what to expect, if it’s only episodic, seralized or both.

@@ebadsheikh792 That's because Appmon still did have overarching episodes, and the character development were baked into the plot progression. Episode 15 or so were still fairly early, especially in the context of Digimon. They were intended to be flawed characters at the beginning that would work themselves to become better characters with character-interpersonal relationship as the series progressed. Ghost Game characters, on the other hand, had their character development "frozen" if not static (as in not having any development as they were more or less can be considered as "complete" characters) and that the fact that most of the episodes were episodic, they were more or less designed so that audience could come and go anytime they want. There was no commitment needed by audience in terms of plot or character development. GG to me felt like it lost its direction, or more like the direction played secondary role as it's too wrapped up in the character/monster of the day which is not really meaningful in the bigger picture and to many people, the novelty of this wears off overtime.

That explanation about TikTok and KZfaq ruining people's attention spans is a terrible excuse for why they are doing things this way. The show is unbalanced, because as stated, there's an interesting story lurking in the background, and what it ends up feeling like is a bait and switch. Despite whatever obscure announcements claimed they always wanted it to be episodic, they started out by promising an interesting story, then never followed up on it. Waiting until the last episode to resolve all this (if that's truly what they want to do) is lazy writing. And a purely episodic story does not work as well for Digimon when you have a natural sense of progression built in, referring to each new evolution stage. New evolution stages are a signpost that implies something has changed or progressed, but since nothing really has, it almost always feels random or unearned. A purely episodic show isn't as compatible with Digimon because Digimon, in all it's various forms, is about growth and becoming stronger. Which is not to say you can't lean more heavily on episodic storytelling, but you need to balance it with more story than we're currently getting, otherwise it's a one-note show with random, discordant notes in the background. TL;DR: The writers miscalculated and Digimon doesn't lend itself well to a purely episodic format.

I didn't actually see that interview, but the bit about "the final episode" to me depressingly echoes the biggest problem with Xros Wars: The Young Hunters Who Leapt Through Time. That series was littered with issues, but the most glaring of them all was the promise of a story that never kicked in until it was over. All of the new characters are robbed of any chance to be more than one characteristic (if they're even lucky enough to appear more than once), returning characters feel watered down, and the climax kicks in with no build-up and a rival hunter suddenly revealed to be evil with no prior indication. And Young Hunters... was only 25 episodes. It's baffling to me that the head writer doesn't feel you can do serial narratives in children's media, when the previous Digimon anime *did exactly that* and was clearly successful enough for Ghost Game to exist at all. Not to mention the ensuing popularity of serial manga and their anime adaptations which in the shonen demographic specifically (Ghost Game's demographic) are famous for their length. If Ghost Game wanted to have it both ways, then it should have approached it like other horror- and mystery-themed serials, where the bulk of episodes are standalone adventures, sprinkled by special episodes and two-parters that make significant advancements. It can be done, has been done. Ghost Game just isn't doing it right.

I even liked that they didn't just throw you all the digivolutions asap for content. The individual eps are really good as standalone episodes... But I got through the series and wondered when the storyline would kick in. Seems to be happening now, but 56 episodes for some storyline is a huge ask for any tv viewer

As much as I love Ghost Game episode to episode I have to admit the lack of plot-focus does start to wear on me now that the episode count has gotten this big. Knowing there's still a lot of Digimon reveals to come thanks to the Vital Bracelet, and in general the standard set by later seasons to give everyone at least a Mega, I'm a little worried that they'll just pop up and become a part of the ongoing arsenal like the Ultimates rather than have a sense of overarching progression like past series. I'm still hopeful that the show could pick up and maintain its own interest but the precedent it's set so far has been mixed to say the least.

Ghost game's episodic nature is actually really what I needed. Building up to GG I decided to do a personal retrospective to see if Digimon held up in my memory. I have rewatched the original Adventure series multiple times through my adult life so it never really memory degraded for me and is still exactly how I remembered it. I never forgot and there was never enough time for memory to fog up. Moving on to ones I hadn't seen since being a kid I binged through 02, Tamers, and Frontier before finally almost a year after it aired decided to watch Ghost Game. After Binging so many serialized narratives having a break from heavy story feels nice and I just ATE THROUGH GG episodes. The light Horror vibe is a favorite flavor of mine and I like that ghost game... doesn't feel like a heavy meal? If that makes sense. It's like a bag of popcorn; you never get full. In fact the serie is clearly in the vein of Kitaro 2018 where main story was really rare and everything was revolve in 1 or 2 episode (like every kitaro serie). I want to point that the director of the serie made hakaba kitaro in 2008 ans the most horrifing episode from 2018. He just made his own Kitaro show. I’m at four minutes and I kinda really disagree, the growth and lessons aren’t forgotten (evolutions demonstrate this, something folk have complained have taken too long) the returning characters (already more meaningful than previous digimon shows secondary characters, the fact there’s so much speculation about second partners, this wouldn’t have been a thing in og or tamers) . I totally get being disappointed or not feeling it matches up to how you felt watching old digimon, even more so when you’ve committed to making content about it. But I think ghost game has had some cool themes , there is overarching progression it’s just not what people want. If they suddenly did 10 episodes of the digital world and meeting hiros father it’d be cool , but I’d miss the standalone new digimon and the strange ways their ideals and misinformation/miscommunication cause chaos and how this relates to unexplainable phenomena. This makes more sense to me than a new global threat every season and also helps raise the stakes if they do introduce that kind of big bad later. A hundred episodes taming gammamon , building a family with mummymon and the lads and then introducing a threat is essentially the same thing as having all the enemies dropping references to some boss every episode. It’s made the standalone dudes more meaningful, but I get why people would find the stories lame or worthless if going into it with that ‘filler or story’ view.

I feel very mixed on Ghost Game. On one hand it's a dark tone of horror I like that uses atmosphere, tension, music, and psychological elements to build fear rather than rely on Jumpscares that I have come to despise. Sure it's not as dark as Survive or on the same level as Tamers, but I have seen darker stuff than those two that turned me off for being too dark for sake of being dark (how I personally feel with Data Squad/Savers) and Ghost Game ain't that thankfully. On another hand, I am frustrated when they repeat themes, have very disappointing villains like Splashmon or repeat villains where the previous was better like Pumpkinmon vs Witchmon. It angers me more when stuff like the not real Hiro and first letter didn't go anywhere, which makes me worried for some plot cases. On a final hand however, I guess I want to wait and see if the final episodes surprise me because as someone who managed to get through and understand confusing plots like Kingdom Hearts, I am a little prepared for the mess Ghost Game is and am use to it. Does that mean I think it's a good mess? No, of course not. But some enjoy things not making sense and I both get that and am use to it because there are some series FAR MESSIER than Ghost Game or Kingdom Hearts (not saying GG is exactly like KH either, just I am use to the disconnect it has while trying to tell a straight story) I guess tldr; I love, dislike, and am neutral towards Ghost Game all at the same time if that makes sense?

Some digimon having no idea how they got to the human world, or the black digimon seemingly keeping an eye on gammamon. Plus recurring digimon like mummymon. Then those “crumbs” rarely go anywhere. We wait several episodes to find out relatively small details: like black tailmon is in contact with Hiro’s father, or Hiro gets to have a two minute conversation with gulusgamammon where gulus drops hints that he knows things normal gammamon doesn’t. Legit people ended up dead and the smaller stories had a creepy down to earth feeling. Unfortunately Episode 26 Cannibal Mansion was the last time the show ever WOWED me. After that nothing ever came close to earlier episodes highs. They also seemed to have stopped with the human casualties which were one of the most interesting things this season has done the others don't really do. Digimon Survive at least came at a good time when Ghost Game was and still is dropping the ball. Ghost game for me at least really only has the teases, the adorbs Gammamon, and Kiyo/Jelly relationship. That's all the show offers now after it seemingly lost it's edge and decided to spin its wheels. It's pulling a Xros Wars Hunters where they backloaded the plot at the very end and maybe the show mostly one big commercial.

I was so excited for the series and what it might bring to the franchise as a whole when it was first shown. But as the weeks went on I started noticing problems. The way conflicts were resolved came off as weak, plots such as galusgammamon's existence and tailmon uber were hinted at but never developed in a meaningful manner. The kids have no idea of what the digital world is, nor have they had focus episodes that shows how they have grown as individuals compared to other digimon series. And i wouldn't mind so much if the series was truly episodic. But it keeps hinting at things that say 'hey ghost game has an actual plot to pay attention to!' without doing anything with those hints. I didn't think I'd feel this way when Ghost Game started, but I'm genuinely feeling that Adv 2020 is a better overall digimon anime and when ghost game is done I'm likely to forget about it's existence.

Digimon GG had a great start with a horror theme and some new Digimon while also using old Digimon and a little mystery here and there. However, it gets old pretty fast after 50+ episodes of the same thing over and over again. A problem arises, the kids get involved, and they have a battle where it's almost good but pretty weak, they work things out, and the episode ends just feeling unsatisfying. I'm not saying GG is a bad season, as it has some good moments here and there. Not to mention being a pretty dark kid's anime that everyone thought could never happen again, I say it's a pretty good season. But with its lack of story, character development, and weak battles/endings, I wouldn't suggest this one as the first season for newcomers.

Not gonna lie, I enjoy Ghost Game, but I want it to _be better._ I'm also gonna be honest about how I've seen shows do the episodic with recurring plot threads format better than this show. For example, I started watching Batman Beyond like a month ago and just recently finished it, and let me tell you, watching Batman Beyond alongside GG made me realize just how fundamentally flawed GG is. After all, not only does BB outclass Ghost Game in terms of being an episodic show with recurring plot threads, but it also outclasses it in every important category: characterization, visuals, dialogue, worldbuilding, pacing, etc. Also, hey you referenced Batman: the Animated Series as an example of a really good episodic series! I agree! Lastly, another reason I chose Batman Beyond as a comparison is because I wanted to have a tribute of sorts to Kevin Conroy, who died on the 10th. I'm not good at feeling sentimental, but I'm truly emotional at his passing since he was the Batman of my childhood.

Why cant they make it like Digimon Appmon with the same episodic nature that go on into big important arcs later on? Digimon appmon is so satisfying to watch cuz they keep pushing the story despite the episodic nature, reveal more and more plot point and then have an amazing finale showcasing the growth of every characters.

Episodic shows are good when they never try to build an overarching story. Ghost Game fails because it hints at an overarching narrative with Gulus and with Hiro's dad. Scooby Doo is a great episodic show because there IS no overarching story and we know it but eith Ghost Game, by teasing us a story and then constantly not elaborating on it, they fail unfortunately

My problem with Ghost Game is that compared to Youkai Watch - Shadow Side the latter has a more conclusive yet serialsed plot even tough both are very similar in my opinion Digimon Ghost Game really underplays what it could have been I feel disappointed but I am still not giving it up on the show until the very final episode I am just very doubtful...

It's a shame that the writer seem to think that people don't have the attention for anything anymore and have to be spoon fed everything. Maybe it's just the way I grew up, but personally one of the reasons I fell in love with the original Digimon as a kid was exactly because it wasn't afraid and tackle darker stuff like death, loss, jealousy, feelings of incompetence/insignificance and having to face your fears and stand up for you believes to succeed. I would be really sad if this didn't catch anybody these days. I do love many things about Ghost Game, the charas, the Digimons, the art style, I even don't mind the episodic nature that much as I'm a big sucker for slice of life stuff happening. But it is true that the character feel limited and can't really grow due to the same nature. And it does feel like Ghost Game has been messing that one big "oh shit" moment that really kicks the gear running, like Myotismon going to the human world in Adventures, Black Wargreymon in 02 or the digidestined going into the digital world in Tamers. There would have been many great opportunities over the run for ghost game so far, Gullus, some of the bigger villains, digivolution debutes, but it can't really go anywhere if everything just goes back to normal after one side. I definitely enjoyed the ride overall, but it would surely be shame if all the lingering mystery gets resolved in one episode at the end. Kinda feels like Tri, that created one hell of a mess, then tried to somewhat fix that mess in its final movie and still left more questions unanswered than answered. Also bless people who have the ability to watch any episode anywhere these days, even if it's not always legal. I had to wait 15 years to watch the 3 episodes I missed on Adventure's original run. Nowadays you have the episodes on YT 5 mins after they aired, or even life broadcasted on official streaming sites if you get lucky. Not being able to watch a show cause you missed the first episode really shouldn't be an issue nowadays.

I think one of its biggest detriments can be summed up with this annecdote: In the website I watched it on, every episode has the same first comment underneath: "No plot progression on this one either."

Depending on how this series ends, it would be a good idea to create a watch list so that future watchers or re-watchers can watch relevant episodes while skipping the pure filler ones.

To be honest i like anime where random “critters” or mythical creatures running about the place and co-existing with humans. Since I don’t see another anime writers or studio making content like Digimon, Pokémon, or Shadow Flame(to an extent) GG has become my go to anime on the weekend lineup just to adore our chocolate loving boy, and the creative stories being put together despite the lack of commitment. One point I majorly agree with is using the audience as an excuse for not being committed to certain kinds of media. I understand that you can’t please everybody, but that’s the bitter sweet of things so I’d say stick to what is best and hope for positive feedback.

It's funny that the creator says kids are distracted easy by tiktok or something else. As a 30 year old the way they are doing things is boring me, I watched all the previous digimon because it all linked to each other and I'm sick of this series, I got 41 episodes in an gave up From the sounds of things the 9 episodes infront of me nothing happens again, I'll just wait till your final review of the show

Perhaps after OG, 02, Tamers, Frontier... and Reboot, we were so used to seeing this adventure story format in Digimon. And Ghost Game tried story-telling that similar to Pokemon series, case of the week, and urban legends that closely related to the real world. I guess this is what happened when digimon became popular, goes commercialization like everything else.

This is not similar to Pokémon. Pokemon still had a goal which they work toward with the monster of the week format. GG in most episodes does nothing to mention the overall story or character growth

Yes, this exactly. I remember clearly while watching this episodic and just forgetting everything that transpired before and being annoyed how there was absolutely no commitment to the story, and even at some point just thought that there was no story and they switched directors/writers...

yeah not to mention that canowissemon stole a ruli focus episode with villain that was ruli first intro to digimon. but by the fact that you can now guess when something going to be resolved without a digimon death just based on how easy a conflict can be hand waved , with they said sorry. the death total for humans is alarmingly high 24 are heroes only acted on destroying a Digimon when it was a zombie, this felt poor it was suppose to be moment of resolve to finally destroy evil digimon but then later keep on having hesitate.

I guess I would count as a digimon fan as i've seen most series, I like Ghost Game a lot but its lack of general progression holds this series back to me. I do think the indivudal stories in this series are the best in the franchise but nobody learning anything make this series not really work for me.

When the show first started and heard that it would be episodic, I thought it would be similar to Gravity Falls but without the restrictions of Disney, aka more dark/scary. Now, the state of GG just makes me want to rewatch Gravity Falls lol (still a fun show though).

I think another thing I'll add about the Canoweissmon point is that it felt completely out of place where he debuted. Up until the point he evolved it was very much a Ruri episode as she was the one lured to Vamdemon/Myotismon and the one he was immediately targeting while Hiro was barely a focus, it didn't shift gears until BetelGammamon was isolated from the others and that was about 2/3s in. So it not only felt unearned in the overarching sense, it felt unearned in the episode it was in entirely, making it fall short both in a serialized and episodic format. And with that tangent in mind, I do agree with your point. The show is trying to be episodic with sprinkles of serialized content, but it's not excelling at either as the episodes sometimes mesh together and don't really stand out from each other and the serialized elements are so spread thin that keeping track requires watching through multiple episodes for a small step forward. I think it's struggling in what it wants to be at times, and while like you I'm tuning in and watching each episode, it has become a hit or miss series for me personally.

I'm soo behind on Ghost Game, I think the last episode I watched was 43 (the one before Eyesmon's episode). I love it so much, but I low-key dropped it because of life getting in the way. However, if it ever gets a **faithful** English dub with no censorship, cuts or changes, I might just watch that from start to finish with someone I'm close to, just so I could tease him like hell everytime the show gets to its scary bits lmao.

I lost attention for Ghost Games when I realized it gonna be episodic and that's why I dislike this season. There is a reason why Digimon 1,2,3 are so beloved, even with so many flaws, because when we were kids we waited every morning to watch continuation of the story. There is shows that work fine as episodic, because they were design that way, but Digimon weren't, so if they deciding to make next season similar they gonna lose old fans and will not gain any new fans.

The partner Digimon do get a little development though. Like Jellymon wants to start businesses and she learns that she needs to give more thought into them and Gammamon takes a couple of episodes to deal with grief, etc. The humans are the ones that seem to be oblivious to everything happening and dont develop. Except Kiyo though. He actually goes through an emotional breakthrough in each Jellymon evolution. Hes the best character because of this.

I've been trying to make it through the series but there are some episodes that are just plain unnecessary, I stopped following after the Monmon episode and jumped 10 episodes to the arukenimon episode and didn't miss anything in between. Can you do a list of the best of this series. Since it's so episodic it'd be nice to get a top 20 of like "the ones to watch"

Yeah, you're correct, man. While the story of Digimon Ghost Game is not bad, the way it is presented and the overall pacing is a bit ... weird and off-putting. I have been binging every 10 episodes of Ghost Game rather than watching it every week after episode 21.

Ghost Game became a fun series for me because this series setup is Digimon that consider a hologram ghost. It's a more urban legend or scares rumor type of stuff than the original Digimon plot. From my perspective, the reason why is ghost more episodic is that I think the writer wants to make the anime feels like rumor-type stuff which goes and comes quickly. Ghost games have the feels of that type of horror anime which is episodic and sometimes left hanging.

I gotta correct you on this: the Vital Bracelet being a ‘walk around to raise your Digimon’ is no copycat of PoGo, they’ve been doing Digivices like that since 99 I know this because I had one of those old school Digivices, and yeah, you could shake them to advance the ‘step count’ but it’s _literally called a ‘step count’ for a reason_ The manual explicitly tells you to walk around with it, they even had a clip attachment, _ALL_ of them had a clip attachment of some kind So no, if anything it was they other way around, and even _that_ isn’t correct (Niantic already had a game out using a type of ARG system which PoGo is based around, it’s a whole other thing that I’d honestly love to see Digimon do as well)

I've been a digimon fan since Adventure 2 and I went back and binged every digimon season a few months before ghost game and I still enjoy the series properly. I dont think anything went wrong with Ghost Game but it's more a matter of old fans not wanting to properly accept the new Formula. I also cant agree with the sentiment that Canoweissmon and Lamortmon are evolutions that simply happened. all 3 of the evolutions are representative of the digimon solidifying their feelings and partnerships with the humans. Lamortmon is the ultimate point of Angoramon wanting to keep Ruli safe no matter what, Thetismon is Jellymon's love for Kiyo and Canoweismon comes from Gammamon's trust and faith in Hiro.

the series has a different structure from the usual ones.. Note that for now no new members.. in these anime they start with a certain number of characters and end with one more.. nothing is known about mega evolution.. it wouldn't surprise me with all the transformations humans do due to of digimon and like the bio digivolution of Tamer .. in 51 the other novelty becomes that the perfect level is reached without passing to the champion one
