I definitely feel your frustration with the time limit still being a thing for CanoWeissmon. I let out an audible "Are you serious?!" when Hiro's Digivice screen turned red.

The thing is Lamortmon generally has been close to cross the line and this isn’t the first time. If Ruli is unconscious and not in control or if there’s a sudden warp evolution, I can see Lamortmon killing whether on purpose or by accident. The story planner looks like how DBS anime was handled with rough outlines. Maybe there’s some other functions or evolutions we will see later. Also the Shaujinmon seems traumatized for sure from killing. I imagine they are going to introduce a surprise warp evolution. Hopefully they eventually solve the time limit issue and now I wonder how they will solve issues with mega

It seemed more "HP at red" rather than the old timeout, since Cano was getting its ass beat. (It also used a new screen rather than the old red circle one.) But I could be wrong/misremembering. Also, since it was about several months that this has been going on, Shaujinmon probably did murder and eat a few people with how he goes on this rant about how he loves the way the blood trickles, pulling off heads, and eating human livers. And considering it's usually kind, it's gotta be traumatic for Shaujinmon realizing his actions.

I actually like that Gammamon was the catalyst for the kids' Digivices "evolving," because it kind of implies, especially with the animation of the triangles, that Gammamon has bonded strongly enough with the other five that his will resonated with all of them, again adding to the six's interconnected bonds.

The new digi device is a way to stop the need extra animations in the episode runtime

DarkNightmon is proving to be quite a popular character. Yeah, I feel you on Canonweissmon still having a Time Limit. Either that or he couldn't hold his breath underwater. Here's hoping the new Digivice has some new features we just haven't seen yet.

Canoweissmon getting defeated so easily was something I was not expecting.

This episode was an One Piece reference, because Shaujinmon is voiced by Hirata Hiroaki (Sanji's VA) and, we all know Angoramon is voiced by Nakai Kazuya (Zoro's VA) So basicaly this episode was Zoro vs. Sanji fight. XD

I'm not disappointed with the past two episodes because while Ghost Game is episodic I think what the next episode as well (Which I'm sure will be Jellymon's warp evolution) is going to establish that the champion levels are no longer going to cut it when it comes to conflict. My prediction is that the next few episodes are going to establish more powerful digimon where their intentions are actually to cause harm to the humans which in turn will bring Hiro and the others to the conclusion that they will have to commit to either being true ambassadors between Digimon and humans or investigate why the portals are opening to begin with. My other prediction is that we will get the new evolutions in the next few episodes but it will begin with Gulusgammamon after a situation where even Canonweissmon isn't enough to keep Hiiro safe

For Episode 51- Just okay, as it's just something and DarkKnightmon is just rumored to be evil. But he was honorable in the end. For Episode 52- Looks like the new bracelets don't do much when it comes to a time limit. Not to mention, Ruli taking advantage to Espimon's literal mind to come join her. The last part of the episode mentioning about coexistence was quite heavy.

Wow, they've been doing Darkknightmon dirty this season. After seeing how good a villain he was in Xros Wars, but then getting shafted by Bagramon. Then a so so minor villain for 2020 with ties to Gatomon. From the way it sounds like in episode 51... they made him into a joke. Also I felt that frustration of yours with Ghost Game many episodes back then. So they still have the time limit issue and their new digivices have 'yet to show their full potential'? It's rough, but thank you so much for reviewing the episodes. I know I'd be even more angry with how they treated Darkknightmon and Meicrackmon... two digimon that played some major roles before. Finally. No signs of any of the black ops team digimon since Black Growmon? Oh boy... hope that 'final episode' reveal pays off.

I definitely think there's more to the Digivice VV than we're being lead to believe. Back in the Shadramon episode, we saw the symbol for the VV flash while Datamon was talking, implying that the evolution from V to VV wasn't triggered by one single event. Rather it was a slow process, of which we don't yet know the full nature. The director has also made it clear that he intentionally makes some elements or lines seemingly insignificant because he wants to catch people off guard when they end up being very significant later on. Though he seemingly also likes to flip the table and troll the audience by setting something seemingly significant up, like Dracmon or the fake Hiro thing. Though with the fake Hiro thing, I'll also say the audience is completely forgetting something way more important: WHY is Espimon looking for Hiro? Why did Hokuto send him? What makes him different than other Digimon Hokuto met? So yeah, I believe the digivice VV probably has a lot more impressive features, but the writers want them to "keep a low profile" for now.

The warp evolution is probably introduced in these episodes to get to megas in near future. Since the use of champion levels have been negated this way. Really have a feeling with how it's set up, namely protagonist focused episodes, that it's just to plotwise introduce stingers mons and the next evolutions.

to be fair i think the timer is more just a warning due to how much damage theyre taking in some cases. we've seen that taking too much damage can cause a digimon to revert back to rookie (or more, depending on the level). i think the timer is still a timer in a literal sense, but also more of a vitality meter.

Ep.52 was a decent episode wrote by head writer, Shawjamon/Shawujinmon(沙悟淨) debut as an powerful yet tragic enemy, imagine protecting his boys and fight his own "inner demons" at same time. Also, he share the same VA as Leomon. More importantly, this series shown us how human's near future society could impact digimon, like rampant consumerism, corporate greed, and envrionmental pollution. Maybe "coexistence" are something that's easier said than done.

I'm not bothered by the time limit being a factor for them. I like that it doesn't eliminate a weakness, as it would make most fights boring. What I'm bothered by is Lamortmon having a rage mode. This bothers me cause we already have a Digimon who evolves using his rage, and that's Gulusgammamon. I don't understand why we need two Digimon who do the same thing. I get Angoramon's forms are supposed to be based on Beauty and the Beast, but I feel they could have done better with this idea.

the most frustrating thing about time limit is the fact that they don't bother to explain why is there time limit on perfect (ultimate) level to begin with and Lamortmon berserk stage could have been such a fun thing to explore but they don't commit to it unlike Appmon who fairly decently explore the concept of berserk evolution with Offmon

I think the Dual V removes the sync requirement or amplified their actual a sync. Hakuto basically mentioned that. Meaning it’s easier for them the evolve meaning we may be getting Megas soon though I’m thinking our first evolutions are gonna be the gulusgammamon ones and they may trigger the other two to digivolve to mega to stop him

I think there might be more to it, maybe it will have something happen involving golus or going to mega.

The reverse headpush in 52 really shocked me. Loved wet angoramon too. Might be more time/durability in the ultimate forms with the new bracelets?

I think the new digivices are meant to unlock Mega at some point similar to the Crests in Adventures. One thing I like about the Kappa episode is that Ruli has that thrill seeker kind of Energy that's been missing since the beginning.

I mean in DarkKnightmon's defense, for a knight to have his helmet and in his case head passed around by humans either as antique and sold would be humiliation a knight could never truly live down. If anything the Dual V allows for the team to bring out greater power of their Ultimates where they weren't able to previously with CanoWeissmon now using Gran Nova and Lamortmon using Guoo Kieizan. DarkKnightmon in this case felt refreshed after fighting a strong opponent and calming him down so I guess I'll let that off the hook. There is a function that is barely used but remember with that case of Ryudamon forcefully turned into a Gyukimon and the team learns to use the Vital Bracelet with the help of their Digimon to undo an evolution which we don't get to see much of and now that I think about it, that whole time limit thing seems a bit vague because Hiro just said it's running out but then a comment interpreted that thing as Cano's vitals where he's running out of energy or something so now I have no real clue but for now I'll assume it's the time limit thing which I'm not too pleased by either. I do wish Lamortmon's berserker evolution gets explored more to where Lamortmon despite Ruli ordering him to stop winds up actually killing a Digimon with Angoramon not too aware of it until the team tells him.

Ep. 51 was the third episode in a row where it’s not good, but not terrible either. I think it’s slightly better than 50 because it has better pacing. However, the Digivice upgrades were underwhelming. 51’s ending, like the endings for 49 and 50, was abrupt. I also liked the cameos of the supporting characters because they were cute easter eggs. Ep. 52 was another average episode, but it had standout moments that I liked. Canoweissmon getting bodied by Shawujinmon was cathartic ngl, and the Lamortmon fight scene was fun. To sum up, they’re both very average episodes, but 52 had moments that I found more enjoyable. On another note, I binged all of Season 3 of the Cuphead Show when it came out on Friday. It was probably the best season out of the three! None of the episodes were bad, which is an improvement over the past 2 seasons, which had 2 bad episodes each. My favourite ones were the 30-minute Christmas episode and the finale episode! Honourable mentions are the first episode and the episode where King Dice makes his third appearance. Also, almost every episode has the Devil, which is great because 1) he’s the best character and 2) it meant that the recurring plot threads in the show got wrapped up in this season since he was integral to *_all_* of them. And it ended on a high note where it has a good lead-in to Season 4 if the show gets renewed.

Also there's something the trio have overcome themselves, the VV wasn't going tp be the saving grace of the timer

Canoweissmon was literally K.O.ed in this episode. Rather than the time limit thing, it looked like a warning for a critical level of HP.

I'd imagine if they didn't have the "tiktok kids don't care for overarcing story" in mind and only using the anime to shill them watches, CanoWeissmon debut would be like ep 18-20, Gulus chilled around 30-32 (with more apperances) and we would be running around with Regulusmon and maybe Siriusmon with a clear antagonist in mind (like Hiros dad wanting to fuse the 2 world and the kids trying to stop him cause they have seen how quite a lot of digimon wouldn't mesh well with human society) and finding out about Gammamons backstory, possibly through the black digimon they showed watching over them.

Right now the new digi bracelet seems pretty lame since so far it just allows for warp digivolution, we will have to wait and see if the new digi bracelet has any other functions. Also I am pretty sure that Shawjamon did eat people and yet again digimon killing people goes unaddressed with no consequences what so ever. I know you talked about Black Knightmon from adventure 2020 but, I thought more about Xros Wars where he first appeared in a digimon anime.

This really feels like a one step forward two steps back routine and 52 episodes in considering its getting really tiresome. 53 does look promising but any time i see a promising episode preview im now conditioned to not expect much either.

okay that's where I have to disagree, just because the Digivice isn't doing anything the last two episodes does not mean it's useless. there's clearly a reason why they keep showing off warp evolution and let's not pretend like the community would not have had a cow if they did introduce ultimates "Japanese term for Megas" they would have said that that was lazy and they would have gotten even more mad. I don't know how many times I have to keep saying this, they may not be showing everything right now but they clearly have some sort of the structure.

I find the writing in Ghost game a bit lacking. I enjoy the animation work and looks. Not too keen on the new digivice upgrade. Seems rushed just to get to Ultimate. Maybe to save on animation. I don't mind the monster of the week premise so much. I was hoping to see more of a dive into Black Tailmon. Let aone the Shadow Agumon and Shadow Guilmon and Shadow Golgomon. Even tho it was explained in the last episode 67 I kinda was hoping for more overall. I still enjoyed the series. I still prefer Digimon over Pokemon. The only series that felt really different to me was Frontier. It felt that the Ancient evolutions seemed umm..weaker...Than compared to like Dukemon or War Greymon. Susanoomon looks lewl but felt like his overall power level was weaker..for like a 10 spirit in 1 digimon concept.

Can we take a minute to appreciate soaked Angoramon? Okay, thanks. I think Hiro's musings at the end of 52 were more than just an environmental angle, though the episode certainly had a bit of that. I feel like Hiro is coming to realize that becoming the bridge for humans and digimon isn't enough when humans are still doing their thing in the human world, which might sometimes be inadvertently harmful to Digimon. The fact that Digimon can accidentally end up in the real world but can't freely return seems to be an issue, as does the lack of human knowledge of them. I feel like Hiro and the group are going to have to make a big decision on how to deal with the creation of portals between worlds at some point. Maybe even whether becoming the bridge between humans and Digimon means telling people of their existence..? I noticed that all of the Digimon were materialized and Jellymon even introduced herself. Maybe a bit of foreshadowing? Despite being 95% episodic and 5% plot I won't put anything past GG. I believe the people in charge do have a story they want to tell in the background of their fun horror monster of the week romp. EDIT: Also Digiknow I want to apologize for posting my longass rants about GG's theme on so many of your recaps lol, and to let you know I seriously appreciate you doing these. It's not only a great way to hear another fan's take on the series but also kind of like a little forum to talk to other Digimon anime fans. I think there is no real plan to Ghost Game story but then I am kind of wondering why they decided to use the term: "Game" in the show title, the ghost part being the Digimon but Game, unless all of these black Digimon that pop up are involved in some kind of game and Gammon is a player but one who purposely reverted back to his rookie form, but we'll see in due course!!

What I don't like is once we got the new digivice I knew I'd have to wait atleast 3more episodes for lore content... But this one got me AND ANOTHER BLIND DIGIMON why why why is he blindfolded like some angels and kazemon and others I'm obsessed yet lost

I still don't like how they just brushed off Shaujinmon's record of having eaten people (noting his preference for consuming humans raw and tearing off their heads) even if it was because of the torn beads. Would have been better seeing him be horrified by his actions instead of saying "Sorry for causing you trouble."

Kinda hard to continue to watch this series when the good episodes are hit or miss.

let's be real here for a second. We all know mega is coming and that these digivices are needed for it. but their introduction proper could have been done better. Siriusmon could have done a partial debut here and it would have been more than enough to cancel out how much wasted timing this all was. They should have saved the digivices evolving for a clutch moment to let Gammamon warp straight to mega instead of just having all of what happened happen in the same episode. Payoffs are a thing and this could have been one of those things two or three episodes down the line.

Well if we apply rules from a real world they wouldn't be able to digivolve to Mega without Dual V. Espimon repeatedly saying Hiro is not "the real Hiro" is coming off as ominous rather than comedical. Its almost as if implying this world isn't the real world, somehow, and none of the characters are real, maybe they all live in a simulation?

52 episodes so is it over now? We getting a 2nd season? We no nothing about the story. It's just the kids solving scary cases that aren't scary.

Episode 51 was definitely one of the weakest episode of the series for me so far. Nothing really interesting happened with the episode plot and the warp evolution/new Digivice didn't really add much either. 52 was better but it was an average episode for this show. I also think that Angoromon not just warp evolving from the start was because he hadn't done it before, and I kind of expect them to do that with Jellymon next episode as well. I completely agree that there are probably set points where "story" is supposed to happen in this series. I think it's mostly around every 10 episodes and every 25 episodes since Gulus showed up in episode 13 then 21 Canoweismon showed up in episode 25. We got Angoromon and Jellymon's Ultimates in the 30s. Gulus then showed up in episode 42 and then we got the improved digivices in episode 51. My guess is we'll probably see Megas or Gulus again around episode 60. Then probably something around 70 and 75 too.

Just what were the writers thinking giving time limiters for ultimate forms and what’s just as dumb is getting the upgrade but still have time limit.

I'm disappointed that this Digimon Adventure: 2020's stupidity of always fight using Adult/Champion-level first even when the opponents are obviously strong ones, got carried on to Ghost Game. Now that the Ghost Game crews can warp digivolve with the Digivice VV, it is upsetting that so far, they still rather fight struggling first with their Adult/Champion-level until the very last moment only then they digivolve into their Perfect/Ultimate-level. If only there is at least some explanation for that, perhaps something like they need to charge the digivolution bar full first or something, but nothing. Remember when the classic Digimon Adventure, when the crews got their strongest digivolution forms, they'll always try to digivolve into those forms to fight, as soon as possible. Because that's what is logical. Feels like the anime logic these days are getting out of hands, can't help but to think it is to stupidify the viewers, or it is just the writers being more stupid than ever.

I adore many of the new digimon in ghost game, but plot and lore wise, this is the worst anime. Really wish they didn't opt for an episodic story. Really should've had a solid plot.

I honestly haven't watched any episodes in a while nothing I've seen or heard has caught my attention. Learning this is how the upgrade happens and this is all it does is MASSIVELY disappointing.... Besides some digimon appearances the show really doesn't offer much and it's disappointing...

Of course the digivices have more power than the old ones. However, this show is horrible. It needs to go off and they need to go back to the proper format. It’s boring af.
