Perhaps it's like Fire Emblem where if a Digimon dies in battle they remain dead. We'd very likely still be able to get new Digimon for our teams, but I think that'll just make it all the more heartbreaking when you see the Digimon that you spent all that time raising and bonding with pass away. Hell, have a small cutscene when it happens where they share a few last words before passing. Tear at those heartstrings.

The thing with Digimon is that theirs no main series their basically all spin offs Pokemon has had different things as spin offs Detective Pickachu Pokemon conquest Mystery dungeon Poke Park It's not a good comparison

Digimon is all about the tone and adventure life and death situations battle of good vs evil. It doesn't matter if they are spin offs you always get a different adventure and story. Pokemon feels the same every year and that's why I dropped it from my main games or series. Collect all 8 badges from gyms stop some evil organization got to the elite four. Its been like this since the beginning and will never end until they stop milking it to the last drop. Digimon was always my favorite because of the more serious tone.

I hate to admit it but I'm growing bored of Pokemon's formula too. I've always loved how the Digimon games can be very different from one another. I also really dig how the Digimon franchise seems to mature with it's audience majority. Digimon Adventure Tri felt much more like an anime and a lot less like a child's cartoon.

If you want, I highly recommend emulating Digimon Dawn/Dusk or Digimon World. Gameplay is at least good as Pokémon but you can actually lose to the occasional boss and the evolution system is great.

Cyber sleuth really gave personality to the locations and small characters they inhabited and the way it was just goofing around with alot of the side quests really added so much charm to the game that some of the innocuous cases really made up my fav moments in the game, double goes for hackers memory where all the goofy side stuff and slice of life moments just really hammer home the game's more emotional moments in the 2nd half where fucking everything is going wrong and especially its ending which packs a punch

Make a third game which combines the plot from CS and HM, where we would switch between the 2 protagonists during the story, add more digimon. I would be willing to pay more for DLCs if those DLCs would add more to the story too.

Similar gameplay, has digital beings that you store in a Smartphone/Digivice, characters can die if you make bad choices, is a Strategy RPG/Visual Novel and have survive (survivor in DeSu's case) in the title. The closest pokemon ever came to doing this was pokemon colosseum/XD with the shadow pokemon but it doesn't seem like we can expect anything like that anytime soon. I'm looking forward to this game will definitely be buying this for my switch.

I'm late, but its worth noting this isnt the first time digimon embraced a darker side. The third series of digimon, tamers, touched on some unexpectedly dark themes overall, and in more recent years, digimon has been leaning more and more into that, with both cybersleuth games very much not being intended for kids, and now this.

Unfortunately this game is like the SMT: Devil Survivor games not just in battle style/gameplay but your human companions and Digimon companions can get plot killed if you make stupid decisions during certain cutscenes where you have to make important choices.

Unfortunately the producer has said that they're trying to put the focus on lesser-used digimon, such as the original version of Falcomon, so it's unlikely that Gaomon will be in this one.

I don’t know but since it looks like a tactical RPG from the trailer, I would assume our Digimon might die permanently in the field, similar to the Fire Emblem games. That’s what I think at least.

I saw a website and there was this. Their adventure won't be easy though, as Digimon Survive's new trailer promises the game features darker themes of death and destruction--elements that haven't really been seen in Digimon since Digimon Tamers.

They certainly intend for it. Hell, in Hacker's Memories, you get to watch a kid slaughter his entire classroom by making them walk single file off the roof of the building. A fire-emblem style game where you make a wrong choice and someone perma-dies on the spot? More likely than you think.
