Now from this point onwards, 90% of KZfaq videos on this game will have the Serph, Argilla and Gale team comp. I forgot to mention this before but party's demon designs are fantastic, personal favourites are Varuna (Serph's) and Vayu (Gale's) with another fave appearing in DDS2

6:39 For the most part, you are correct about that. However, there are two Mantras on the grid, Mitama and Soul, which have special skills that can allow reserve party members to gain Karma. I think the Mitama Mantra's skill only gives half EXP to inactive party members while the Soul Mantra's skill gives full EXP to inactive members. 17:27 This is something that Digital Devil Saga 1 does not tell the player, but Digital Devil Saga 2 does tell this to the player.

2:00 Something I find interesting is that this is a JRPG where you don’t fight a major villian in a dedicated base when they have one, because we went through Mick’s only base and fought Berserk Jinana as Usas at the end. 3:04 So something I find interesting is the fact that Heat uses the word “Pissed” and “Girlfriend” While the two admittedly don’t have the issue of having their origins as phrases and concepts explicitly linked to real life culture, anything named after a real life person, like using Scrooge to describe a miser as that’s from a 19th century novel or a holiday based on real life history/religion/stories like Christmas. But they can allow us to understand something better because it’s using things familiar to us, you have to world-build what an in universe holiday means but use Christmas and people understand what you mean. But you have a militarised world where everyone is a career soldier, typically somewhat serious and formal, yet Heat not only uses a informal and crass real life slang term but uses the term girlfriend, the people in the Junkyard didn’t even have feelings before this point, why would they have words for or even know of the concept of romance. In fact this is a joke that relies on Heat understanding what that means and for him to assume that everyone else understands what he means, 3:44 Albeit I’m the kind of person who would ship characters whom are both living at the end of their story, hence their relationship would continue on after the culmination of the romantic set up. Jinana dying fairly early on, especially when you consider this being a Duology means I do not really ship her with anybody 5:25 Something of note and I’m not sure why this tends to happen, but Persona party members, which being a member of the party who joins at a certain time Gale is going to be comparable too. But later joining party members also always join with less skills than party members you’ve been using for a while and hence can end up less versatile from the outset. Albeit that does depend on the character and game, Ken and Koromaru starting with 3/5 skills, with Ken lacking multi target healing in Persona 3 FES (Portable made Mediarama the first skill he learns), or how Koromaru lacked any multi target magic at base in the original games, compared to Naoto who joins with 7 skills and is only really missing Karn skills Admittedly I feel like designing Gale with the idea of having as much skills as Serf, Heat and Argilla would be a logistical nightmare and not easy to plan around, because by default every party member here has an extremely customisable skill set, and as long as you are diligent about Mantras the original 3 can have a lot of skills by this point. Which Gale might have issues replicating. Albeit he does have a decent amount of early option. Quite funny with Persona party members, the fact that they learn certain skills at certain levels means what they have acssess will always be static, 10:02 Based on what I’ve heard while applicable to broader Celtic mythology as they are reported to be in both Ireland and Scotland, the Kelpie is overall more heavily associated with Scotland over island with almost every Loch having legends. Albeit despite being from Scotland I wasn’t really brought up with a lot of stories around the folklore. And related to the idea of Scottish folklore, Kamoshida’s Palace in Royal has a weirdly high amount of Scottish mythology inspired demons in it, with Silky, Kelpie and Cait Sith And in fact pretty much every demon there is either from Great Britain and Island or Christianity, only Bicorn and Mandrake aren’t. 10:26. The Kelpie’s use Wind in Persona 5, so they would very unlikely to be weak to it in Persona 5. 10:45 Footage of Gale eating a Tesco’s Lasagne Ready Meal 19:31 While this is a serious scene, the positions of Bat’s face on his demon form and the mouths on Argilla makes it look like Bat is staring at her chest without either of them moving their heads. Also I thought the mouths would be a design detail and not something that would be used in a story scene.

Honestly possibly my second fav character in the two games he’s got a cool demon form and him not comprehending is the funniest thing to me when he says it, not to mention the design is cool, and also wind is a pretty great element to begin with

Actually most of this game's animations are taken from SMT Nocturne. But PS2 Persona took a lot from that too.

Finding out that in the original draft of the game Gale didn't exist and Serph had his personality and dialogue makes me wish we had gotten that version (which instead was later released as a series of five novels... only two of which were ever released globally).

Let's just say I like where the final story takes Serph, but it's a long-game payoff (as-in, we don't get the full details on him until late into DDS2). And I really like Gale. But it is kinda telling that Gale got most of Serph's lines. (Similar to how often Yosuke speaks for the protagonist in P4, and losing that in spinoffs makes him far more one-note and less inteligent-seeming by proxy)

1:27- Yeah, kind of expecting some bad things to happen to these red shirts eventually. Although it would be cool seeing more competent NPCs actually holding the line in games. 2:55- Okay, slapping Heat [EDIT: Not Gale] last time was fine, but calm down here a bit please. 3:13- I was fully expecting him to say "I Do Not Comprehend" while looking at the camera... Oh well. Xp 4:45- Guess this is the force that wiped out this group while the rest of us were at the Citadel. A nice attention to detail. 5:45- I really like Gale's cape wings for his demon form. Looks really cool and reminds me of something similar for Big Chill in Ben 10. 6:57- The no EXP thing is a bummer, but that's VERY nice they still let inactive members get AP to max their Mantras. That's very generous and time saving. 16:48- True. I know the first Octopath Traveler game requires some REALLY absurd luck for the best possible time (and a part of that is actually being able to find and kill its metal slime enemy... As just the *first barrier* to entry for a good run). 19:24- I'm sorry she's talking w- 19:26- ... Why do they keep finding ways to make "those" weirder and weirder the further we get into this game? 20:50- And quite an ominous cliff hanger this time... Time to wait and see what the damage is like next time... In other news... Since last time, I've now beaten the TTYD remake. Still have a tiny bit of clean up left to do since I'm pretty much at 99.9% completion with things, so I'll do that and wrap this game up soon hopefully. Expect a new Backloggd Review from me soon on it. Once that's done, I'll be heading back to MD and try to desperately grind up my pass before its end next month. That should hold me off until SMTV V arrives, even in the case it arrives "on time" and not next Tuesday like it said it would.

They were pretty cool until Mick is likely to reach them. He doesn't comprehend cameras either. Gale is probably one of my favourite party members in DDS and Vayu is one good reason why. I think there is a skill in one of the mantras that allows a character to gain exp even if they aren't active as well. The original Resident Evil 3 is probably one of the biggest RNG fests for a speedrun due to that game randomising many things. I remember hearing that if you get the Magnum in the police station, that kills the run right there, and that is only the tip of the iceberg. That is one scene I remember from a random video I watched. Hopefully the damage cannot be comprehended. Glad to hear that TTYD is basically complete and I hope you enjoyed a game that I would probably consider one of the greatest of all time, at least the original, but the remake is worthy of being a TTYD remake in my eyes. Good luck with MD as well and SMT 5 will be fun to hear about as well. As for myself, I am still finding my opportunity to do the Laguna Seca 200 Miles since it is a two hour endurance but I may have a chance soon. That is mainly because me and my brother have made tons of progress with TTYD as we just beat Chapter 6 and we also completed the cookbook as well and the last thing I remember him doing is grinding for Money Money in the Pianta Parlor. I think we will start Chapter 7 soon. As for other things, my next playthrough will start uploading tomorrow now that I have shown off some pretty interesting games and got my headset settings in a good place as well. I also hope that my next playthrough will be easier to follow because that was one big criticism with my Rev playthrough. I also finished reading that manga I mentioned before which was called Inside Mari which proved a very gripping story to follow and probably an eye opening experience as well. I am not done reading manga though since I have found a good time to read while exporting my videos and my next series I am covering is a lighter version of Nozoki Ana called Nozo x Kimi and they are both made by the same author. I also have enough series lined up afterwards as well.

@@BerserkerRohan lol That makes up for him not saying it there now you've pointed it out like that. Yeah, Gale not only looks really cool, but also looks very helpful as a party member as well. Oh yeah, that's right. Forgot about that one. Okay, that's fine for it to be an unlock. Huh, wasn't aware that RE3 had some RNG to it too. I figured most things would be fixed, but I can see randomization adding variety to repeat runs and the resource management system of that game. That said, RIP speed runner's sanity for that though. Man, that sounds like a blindsiding experience finding that scene of all things out of context via a random video. Xp I had a nice time for the most part. I admittedly do have some gripes I'll mention in the review, but overall, it was a pretty good time. Although on that note, maybe hold off reading mine until you're finished with everything the game has just so your own thoughts of the remake don't get influenced by mine; Same for any passerbyer reading this comment as well in the event if they're playing the remake too. Anyway, thanks for the MD and V remarks as well. Another two hour endurance huh? Best of luck with it. And good to hear you two doing well for the remake as well. Nice to also see you both finish the recipe book faster than I did. Hopefully it was less of a grind for you two. Also did that too around that time since thankfully that's when the better grinding Palor games unlock. And speaking of your run, I have thanks to give for you both as your remark about Double Dip with Boo Sheets was something I took advantage of for the final boss and what made that pretty easy. Best of luck with Chapter 7 too. Nice to hear the next LP will be out soon. Here's to hoping it goes well. Also don't feel too bad about that criticism since Rev is hard to follow with its BSery at many times; Plus there's also the content bloat it had by having ALL of the Fates paralouges, which I imagined probably made it difficult to follow. I'm sure the next game will be easier to follow along with. Nice to see you finished up the manga you were reading before. Even nicer to hear you found your next magna to read and have more lined up as well.

@@jaredfayette2567 I remembered him being good for buffs or debuffs and it looks like I was on the right track. There is one video that talks about how much RNG goes into that speedrun and there is a lot for the speedrunner to overcome so it would take ungodly amounts of luck for a speedrunner to get a perfect run of that game. Better yet, that scene was also the thumbnail for the video too. I was thinking of reading the review afterwards as well. Vengeance will be fun to learn about as well. I am knocking out some of the shorter endurances first. I think the next ones I do afterwards are going to be shorter as well. We kind of made a game out of filling in the recipes since I was the one with the guide and my brother was challenging himself to see how much he could remember on his own. That strategy was something my brother needed to rely on his last playthrough because he was using danger strats so he couldn't afford to take a hit. He also had another tip for the final boss but maybe I will mention it later. The parts were also way too long for most people as well so hopefully my next playthrough will be easier to follow in that regard as well. It feels good to get back into reading some series I was interested in before.

@@BigKlingy 5:26 On a side note, I was looking at the Kiseki Wiki a few days ago, and that lead to me to a REALLY funny realization: assuming the information on there is correct, in CS3, Rean's Arcane Gale is stronger than Ashen Mortal Leaves, the Spirit Unification version of his upgraded S-Craft in that game (Arcane Gale has a Strength modifier of 170%, which is effectively a 340% modifier since it hits twice, while Ashen Mortal Leaves only has a 300% modifier), meaning that, while Spirit Unification is active, Rean can do more damage with a regular craft than with his S-Craft (sure, Arcane Gale in CS3 is 90 CP, which is a lot, but it's still less than what's needed for an S-Craft), which is just silly. I'm glad they finally learned how to balance Arcane Gale in CS4 and Reverie. 14:20 Yeah, I've been listening to Breaking Free from NEO recently, and holy crap, that song is incredible!

Gale is versatile and very durable, even if it’s not optimal I love running physical skills on him Bat’s 2nd fight is very weird in the grand scheme of things IMO, you just get done with a big boss fight in Jinana and then immediately fight another one here. It makes sense in the story, but when it comes to pacing it’s a bit off to me.

A lot of runs stop using Heat at this point since physical isn't super optimal for the main game. But in speedruns he has the niche of getting the most free Mantra mastrerings of anyone, since he... dips from the party a lot.
