NOTE: I noticed during playback both on my TV (Chromecast) and on my desktop PC that there is a slight out-of-sync problem with the audio and video. I have checked my original rendering and the sync is fine. It is slight and you might not even notice it had I not mentioned it. But it is on YT's end, not mine.
I recently turned 300,000 miles in my 2007 Jeep Wrangler. This is part 2 of the story of my journey with it. If you haven't watched part 1 yet, you should watch that first (this parts assumes you have, so you'll likely not understand some references to people, places and events). This part picks up where part 1 left off: My journey these past seventeen years of ownership as a result of owning this wonderful and amazing vehicle. Enjoy!
Note: The music is "Stellar Wind" by Unicorn Heads. It is available from the KZfaq Audio Library for free use in KZfaq videos.

Thank you so much for creating and posting this 2-part video! I appreciate the relaxing style, and love to check out the different scenery across the country. I’m just a few years away from retirement, and I mentioned to my wife that this is exactly what I want to be doing. I have a 2000 XJ with 220,000 miles on it, although I can only claim to have added 100,000 of that. Not enough vacation time to do too much, but we have enjoyed quite a few trails in it. It’s been an incredible machine, zero breakdowns ever! About a year ago I treated myself to a new Gladiator as well, a Rubicon Diesel, and I feel like I’m cheating every time I take it off road. What a vehicle! I’m slowly getting it set up for some great overlanding experiences similar to what you’ve been doing, and trying to pacify myself with a few shorter trips in the meantime. I can’t wait!

That is awesome, Jim. Jack has the diesel in his JK. He loves the manual paddle shifter kit from the 392 Wranglers. You might want to look into that. Safe travels!

Well done sir! This is one of your best videos, especially the end. Made me rethink about getting the dents and dings taken out of my truck. Thanks Mark, for showing all of your adventures and keep them coming. I very much enjoy the squeaks and rattles of your war wagon. Cheers!

Thanks for sharing all these trips. My 13 jk has 167k at 10 years old, and I have enjoyed all the miles weather commuting for work, road tripping, or off-road. I also have owned a 95 Toyota Hilux for the last 20 years, and it is just a couple thousand shy of 300k miles. Even though it isn’t as capable off road compared to the Rubicon, I enjoy it very much as well.

You're very welcome and thanks for watching and commenting. You'll get a kick out of my admitting that I set 300K miles as my Jeep's goal because it seems every Toyota owner gets 300K miles out of their vehicle. LOL.

Outstanding production. I was waiting for those rusty shovel shots at the end. Everywhere I've already been or are planning to go revolve around your channel and guidance. Thank you for your generosity in sharing your experiences and knowledge. I have the Owyhees on tap for 2024, Dollhouse is penciled in for 2025, and yes... Alaska, in 2026. Safe travels. Looking forward to your future videos.

Hey Mark, great video! I just wanted to drop a line and say thank you for the inspiration. Over the years I've had a variety of jeeps, a couple CJs, then a couple JKUs that i set and made some great family overlanding trips in them. After a divorce in 2019 I kind of floundered and decided family trips would be no fun any more on my own and traded in my beloved 09 jku on a new ram 2500. Nice truck but not the same. I barely even drove it. You're part 1 video reminded me of what I was missing so off the truck goes and I came home with a JLU Rubicon a couple weeks ago for hopefully many NEW adventures. Thanks for the inspiration and the reminder my friend.

Honestly, Mark I could have easily watched another hour of this. I was kind of sad when I reached the end. When the part from Pizza Barn came up, I was sitting here eating a grocery store frozen pizza. It kind of made it seem inadequate when I saw that behemoth that you all had! Your trip along the TAT is about when I originally found your channel. I remember the wooden stick in the caliper trick, and actually showed it to my friend/mechanic! I'll reiterate what I've told you before, I hope that we can meet up and run some trails soon!
@DxDOverland

Yeah, that Pizza Barn pizza with grilled Hatch chilis is darned tasty. Every time I pass through there and stop for a pizza, I take a photo and text it to Ray. An attempt to coax him out of his (now in Montana) home. We are discussing finishing up the TAT next April. Maybe combine it with the solar eclipse. That might take us out your direction, IIRC correctly what part of the country you're from. So, perhaps a chance to meet.

Awesome video and tribute to your 300k Jeep (manual too!)! Recognize several of those trails including The Land of Enchantment trails/trips (my AO). Bobby’s Hole climb on 32s with f&r lockers was fun (04 TJ Rubicon 5sp man). I too tent camp, a Gazelle T3 fits perfectly across the rear wheel wells of my TJ. Keep her rolling, Mark!

@@DxDOverlandMy daughter recently took her car in for a heater repair. While she was at the service desk, a young shop worker came in the door and told the service manager that she couldn’t drive the car. Manager asked if the car wouldn’t start and the service gal said “it’s a manual!” 😂 Manuals forever!

Great video! Question, what is the tent your using or recommend? Thanks for sharing.
@DxDOverland
@DxDOverland 6 ай бұрын
Thanks, Matt. My current tent is an REI Half Dome SL2+. Before that I had several MSR Hubba Hubbas. And still would if they hadn't changed the design (graphite poles vs previous aluminum are criticized as causing splinters in hands). The SL2+ is slightly larger, and so its poles are slightly more complex than the MSR's. But that makes it wider with straighter sides. Zippers are also a bit easier to operate. Packs small and goes up easy, as did the MSR. My tent, poles, stakes, sleeping bag and pad fit in a crag bag (think rugged airline carryon) and weigh less than ten pounds. Much prefer that to a hundred or more on my roof.
