This is NOT part of the 2nd Z/28 in Garnet Red being restored on this channel
This video is Part 6 of my 69 Camaro Z28 Full Frame Off Restoration Video Series. This video features the final Sealer & Paint of the body and body panels in the original beautiful Lemans Blue Color. I will be showing each step of the restoration process of this restoration in real time. I hope it will be enjoyable and informative and I welcome all comments and input. I have posted more videos on the disassembly of this 69 Camaro Z28 showing the Dash Disassembly and both the front and rear suspension removal. My email is digitalpizza@comcast.net Located in San Francisco Bay Area, California

Hi Peter @digitalpizza. I know this video was posted a while ago, but I just came across your channel and started following. I've been bingeing your videos! Amazing work! Do you recall how many liters of the Lemans blue you mixed to spray the full car?

This is the best informative restoration video I've seen out there. I'm in the process of restoring a 69 Camaro Z28 as well. Any chance you could pUT together a dvd set of the complete series of all your videos of both the Z28s you restored? I would love to have this and would gladly pay you.

I had a 1969 Camaro. It was Glacier Blue from the factory, is this blue an updated version?

Glacier Blue is different. This is Lemans Blue which is a little darker and richer

Weren't the stripes Decals originally ? On original cars the stripes looked flatter and not shiny.
@digitalpizza1
@digitalpizza1 3 жыл бұрын
The original stripes were painted on separately after the car was painted, they were not cleared at the factory and were generally done in a sloppy inconsistent manner and could look very different from car to car I have chosen to clear them
@williamdeegan7840
@williamdeegan7840 3 жыл бұрын
@@digitalpizza1 When a car is restored , are the stripes painted after the car is cleared or before and cleared over. To be authentic shouldn't they be painted on after the clear. Thanks for clearing that up. I appreciate it.
@digitalpizza1
@digitalpizza1 3 жыл бұрын
They painted them on after the car was cleared. So when the car was new, the stripes were painted over the clear. So I painted them over the clear, but then we chose to clear the stripes. It’s not as the factory did it, but generally is an excepted method in restoration

Careful taking that tape off. You can get tape-bridging where the paint and tape become one thing... and wind up lifting into the painted surface.
@digitalpizza1
@digitalpizza1 3 жыл бұрын
Hi John, Yes, you are correct. The good thing about this job was that the entire car was stripped down which makes it easier to tape everything in such a way that that is less of a problem then if you are painting a car that is complete, and you are just taping everything up. There was actually very little taping involved in this one. Thanks for your reply
@JohnDisque
@JohnDisque 3 жыл бұрын
@@digitalpizza1 Alrighty. I just wanted to peeps to know there's no worse feeling in the world than pulling the tape of and watching a big strip of paint come off with it. It's enough to make a man cry and it's really tough to fix and blend back in so you just have to start all over. Anyway - I love your channel. Keep up the great work.

I have a 69 RS/SS Camaro my paint is Olympic gold . Not crazy about that color. Do you think it would affect the value of the car if I painted it a different color I like the Le Mans blue . But I do not want to decrease the value. What do you think?
@digitalpizza1
@digitalpizza1 Жыл бұрын
If the color is the only thing you change, it would have the least affect unless it’s original paint. I would not change it if it’s original paint. Figure it might have a deduction of what ever it would cost to put it back to gold. But that’s not much compared to what these cars are worth. If it’s not a number matching car, the it wouldn’t matter as much
@digitalpizza1
@digitalpizza1 Жыл бұрын
Another idea is, you could also put something out there to see if anyone is interested in trading. There are guys who are really into the Olympic gold.
@maxpurdy5319
@maxpurdy5319 Жыл бұрын
It is a numbers matching car we’ve owned the car since the 70s it’s a 396 325 hp. I think your right Olympic gold probably the best way to go with it.

I noticed someone picked up his hose. As a painter I personal really really do not like when someone does this. Cheers
@digitalpizza1

That was me who picked up the hose, I agree with you, but he actually called me over to hold the hose because he didn't want to step on it or trip over it due to the tight area around the car at that point.
