Can't really fault him. Computing was very niche in this movie's time and powerful systems tended to take up multiple rooms (as is shown later). It's only NOW, with computers and internet a way of life, we look back and think "Wow, this film predicted EVERYTHING!"

nope! dillinger didn't program the MCP, he just expanded it. the MCP was first a chess program written by gibbs and some others who worked on it. that's why the MCP said that no user alone have wrote him.

Dillinger wrote the MCP to be ambitious, to become more efficient at infilitrating and obtaining outside corporate info, and probably to learn from its observations and absorptions. Dillinger seems like a kind of guy that might use blackmail, and if so, it's almost natural that the MCP would pick up on it.

Well, David Warner is a bit of a cult actor and he has appeared in countless of franchises and more or less famous movies. Star Trek, Planet of the Apes, The Omen, Terry Gilliam's "Time Bandits", Scream 2, Sam Peckinpah's "Cross of Iron" etc. Not to mention he has appeared in many famous tv series like Twin Peaks, Star Trek TNG, The New Adventures of Superman, Dr Who, Hornblower, Inspector Lewis. He does a lot of voice acting too. He's the voide of Ra's Al Ghul in the animated Batman series for instance and has a voice role in the Fallout games too. A versatile actor who always finds work and who still does live acting on Broadway. He usually plays villains though. Btw, here's some trivia. He actually appeared in *two* Titanic films. In S.O.S. Titanic (1979) he played Lawrence Beesley who actually was a *real* character who survived the sinking of the Titanic. His character in Cameron's Titanic (1997) is completely fictional as are Rose, Cal, Rose's mom, Jack Dawson and everybody he befriends on the ship. The role of Sark/Dillinger was actually offered to the highly respected actor Peter O'Toole (Lawrence of Arabia) but he didn't want to play a villain and insisted on the role of Tron himself - for which he was considered a bit too old at 49. In hindsight it might actually have made the title character a bit more intersting as Bruce Boxleitner pales next to the charming Jeff Bridges - who was "The Dude" even before he became known as it. David Warner is also the voice of the MCP. He's actually talking to himself in this scene. :)
