Diluting liquid soap paste - mixing 100% coconut oil soap paste with 100% olive oil soap paste. Hope you enjoy this video!
Please always follow safety requirements while making soap! Sodium/Potassium hydroxide is caustic and can cause burns on skin or on mucous membranes!
A Few videos back, I have made a 100% coconut oil liquid soap using the cold process method. Here is the link to the video if you would like to revisit: • Cold Process Liquid So...
I actually made a 100% olive oil liquid soap using the cold process method too. The reason why I have made two 100% oil liquid soap is I wanted to play with the soap formula after the soap paste is made, adjusting the amount I use depending on what I want the soap to be used for. This is one thing I like about making liquid soap - there is still this kind of flexibility after the soap is made, which is not the case with bar soaps.
To dilute liquid soaps you need to decide on two things:
- The weight your container can hold
- soap to water ratio
The weight of the container is what you have on hand. Soap to water ratio depends on how concentrate you want your soap to be. Some ratios I use for your reference:
- 1:1 cleaning purposes
- 1:3 hand or body washes with a squirting pump
-1:5 hand or body wash with a foaming pump
You can always adjust your soap paste formula after the soap has been made like what I have done in this video. It's just like back to step one with putting the numbers into the lye calculator.
Dilution example in the video:
500g container with a 1:3 soap to water ratio
500/4= 125g
125g of soap paste to 375g of water
I want to make a soap formula of:
70% olive oil
30% coconut oil
125g x 0.7= 87.5g
125g x 0.3= 37.5 g
