It's not "The Voice," but "The Singer," a much more professional show with only professional singers competing. They're invited to come. There are no awful performances, no embarrassing critiques, and Dimash (22 then) was the youngest ever to appear on their show and the only foreigner. That's why he did NOT actually win, but came in second. They didn't want to give the prize money to a foreigner. They did, however, make Dimash an overnight success, kept inviting him back for featured performances, so in a nutshell, they love him there. He gives lots of concerts in China. Oh, S.O.S., was the first song he sang on "The Singer." Even though you've heard him perform it, it's exciting to see the faces of the audience being mind blown.

It was called the I Am Singer Competition for advanced and popular Chinese artists, and Dimash was invited as a wildcard performer to fill the last vacant spot. He was not known there, and was not expected to get past the first night, but he brought the house down as the first singer on the first night for 2017, and broke Chinese internet with 12 million views overnight, waking up to having guards outside of his bedroom. They accompanied him everywhere for the 3 month comp. He got immediate international fame from singing SOS on that first night. He could not win as the prize required fluent Mandarin, so they made him Runnerup.

The band named A'Studio that accompanies Dimash, is the same one that composed the song minus the lead singer named Batyrkhan Shukenov, who died of a heart attack in 2015. The song was originally performed in 1998 and the lyrics are by the poet Ilia Reznik together with Baigaly Serkebayev, (the keyboardist with long hair, which we see in the video accompanying Dimash.) The tones in the middle are oriental Arab technique (or traditional Qazaq singing, called Joqtaw. It is a lament to the deceased singer). The last run is 24 seconds on 1 breath. The man in the white shirt giving a standing ovation at the end is Igor Krutoy. This is the first time he heard Dimash. He came out of retirement after seeing this competition to begin his collaboration with Dimash.

He was in The Singer which was a competition for professional singers in China.🌹❤️‍🔥🌹 This song in my opinion is Dimash as his most sexy. His manipulation of his voice and how he uses the lyrics are almost a caress to a Vocal G-Spot which is why it was no surprise that the women were dashing up, at full run, to give him their flowers😉🤣🥹😂🤣 That final impressive series of riffs was 23 seconds in one breath. The man in the white shirt who stops to applaud Dimash is Igor Krutoy, a Russian/Ukrainian musician, pianist and composer who had retired and when he heard Dimash he decided to return to composition to compose music for him. In a statement I read that Dimash was the vocalist he had been waiting for all his life.

Great reaction there, anything you watch of Dimash will surprise you. Calm down and watch something like "Love is Like a Dream", "Love of Tired Swans" , (three versions of this one) If you get blown away by watching videos imagine seeing Dimash live, as I did in Malaysia in June. Seems you have been Dimashified already! Keep going, your journey has only just left the station!

Apparently Dimash's vocal cords are a bit longer than most. He has also studied music since he was 5. I guess when you start learning to sing correctly at that very young age it probably helps a lot. He has also said that he practices 3 hours a day. Even when he was 22 he had had 17 years of training and practice! 🇨🇦

Out of this coupling came some if Dimash's, most loved works, some of which were older songs of Igor's that he covered and some written specifically fo Dimash. They were a phenomenal team and are still great friends today. Look for The Love of Tired Swans (cover), Olimpico (original) and the ethereal Ave Maria (original) and we cant forget the amazing Stranger also written for Dimash by Igor.
