Я слушал более 30 раз эту композицию и до сих пор если сосредоточусь только на звуке - слёзы! Это так прекрасно! Одновременно драматично. От этой композиции шквал эмоций: радость, восторг, ступор, драма, любовь, интрига, грусть, счастье и многое другое. Все это захватывает в одной короткой композиции, это гениальное произведение и исполнение. Ничего лучше я не слышал. Всем добра и красоты

I've heard countertenors. If you like music and live to be as old as I am, you'll hear countertenors aplenty. Impressive! Until I heard Dimash. Suddenly, they didn't sound very good. Dimash is the best countertenor the world has ever produced, I think. 'Ave Maria' demonstrates why. His resonance. His pitch and dynamic control. His range. His breath control. Never has there been a countertenor like him.' A couple of years ago, out of curiosity, I went hunting on KZfaq for recordings from castrati countertenors. Castrating prepubescent males so they could retain their boyish voices into adulthood used to be a socially-accepted practice, right into the early 20th Century. I wondered, were those castrati any good? How would the most famous of them fare in comparison to Dimash? You can investigate this subject yourself with the KZfaq search function, if you like, but I will save you the time. Even castrati sound bad compared to Dimash. Most of Dimash's songs are not accessible to sopranos, but 'Ave Maria' is an exception. The entire song is within a good soprano's vocal range. I'm hoping to hear soprano singers give it a try. :-)

I also listened to counter-tenors and made this conclusion: Dimash is not a counter-tenor. He manages to reconfigure his voice apparatus in such a way that it produces a legit soprano sound, except for the lower soprano range where his formants are closer to male tenor. Most voice coaches who refuse to accept this simply repeat what they were taught by instructors. One thing that confuses them is the gender bias, but few realise that Dimash shows the power of androgynous voice qualities. They are looking for a boundary which he crosses, but there is no boundary. It's all him from the baritone to the highest pitches. What is important is the ability to express oneself in a particular range and color of the voice, even if it's achieved technically. Dimash knows how to sing with feminine colors and pitches properly, he does not fake them.

@@x-orbiter2061 Classifying Dimash as a soprano misses the mark as widely as classifying him as a countertenor. He can sound any way he *wants* to sound. I've heard him produce sound that I couldn't have distinguished from a preadolescent boy's. I've heard him produce convincing soprano sound. I've heard him belt mixed voice in the 5th octave, which is where most countertenors live purely on falsetto. I've heard him do things I've never heard *either* sopranos or countertenors do - such as his whistle voice crescendo-decrescendo. Who *does* that? I won't even get into his throat-whistle, ranging all the way up to D8. Let's just call him unique in the history of music. Traditional classifications just don't work with Dimash. I bet we can agree on that.

@@Urgelt I can't argue with that. Dimash invests a lot of effort in developing different sounding voices based on his extraordinary natural abilities. The point I was trying to make is that vocalist professionals are bound by the traditions of their trade and fail to admit that Dimash can actually perform as soprano in terms of color and emotion (whenever he pleases), and not only in terms of range. They insistently use the term 'falsetto' with derogatory overtones, because otherwise their beliefs (and sometimes self-esteem too) fall apart.

@@x-orbiter2061 The proof is in the hearing. I have heard Dimash sing soprano so perfectly that if I didn't know it was a guy, I'd have been sure it *was* a soprano singing. 'Falsetto' isn't a good term to apply to Dimash. A better term is 'head voice.' What's interesting to me is the flexibility which Dimash has in mixing head and chest voice - he seems able to grant weight to each as he pleases, producing different sound qualities across a wider spectrum of possibilities than I can recall hearing from any other vocal artist. And he can shift modes on the fly - a phrase with one weighting, next phrase with a different weighting. It might be fun to jump into Igor Krutoy's head for ten minutes, long enough to find out what he thinks about Dimash's vocal abilities.

Hi Vera, danke für die schöne Reaktion! Das mit dem Engel trifft es, ich mag diesen Vergleich normalerweise auch nicht - wer weiß schon, wie Engel singen;-) Aber in diesem Stück... Ich habe eine Interpretation gehört, dass er die Verkündigung Mariä singt, also das "Gegrüßest seist du, Maria" von Erzengel Gabriel, der Maria verkündet, dass sie den Sohn Gottes gebären wird. Und der mitfühlende Engel verkündet die frohe Botschaft voller Traurigkeit, weil er weiß, dass sie auch den Tod ihres Kindes wird erleiden müssen... 😢 Ich finde das eine sehr schöne Interpretation, die auch das ganze Bühnenbild und das Kostüm und eben den traurigen Unterton erklärt. Und daher ist es in diesem Fall für mich auch tatsächlich die Stimme eines Engels, die ich höre... 😇🤗
