(на русском / под английским текстом) I hear your criticisms but try to think as if you were as an artist for one second. You are famous, you are known for having let's say amazing belt notes. The problem with this is your public will want to hear your famous belt notes over and over again. What will happen ? You know there are people who are famous for one single song, and they sing it in any possible shows possible. Don't you think, as an artist, you will be bored to death if you had to do the same thing over and over again, and for years ? Not only you won't last long and people will forget you because you are repeating yourself and as an artist, you are killing your creativity. Now, let's think in a context of a concert. Dimash is not only a great singer but a great entertainer with his body language (the way he moves, his expressions). That's one of the reason why people love watching him singing live, and not only on the radio (if his voice was the only thing that matters, people wouldn't even mind seeing him). In a concert, I think it makes sense to have different kind of songs: big songs, fun songs, and even resting songs for your voice (because you can't continuously sing exhausting/energy-sucking songs in the long run, it will just kill your vocal cords, and if you have bad technics you even go through surgery). As an artist Dimash wants to try many things, so he is not bounded by one genre, or musical style. You know, the Opera in Kazakhstan wanted him, he refused because he did not want to stick to the Opera genre. He wanted to find his unique way but his unique way is more than just big songs. Don't forget he is young and let him experiment. If you like his big songs, there are plenty of them. These "ordinary"/mainstream/"weird songs" are still a minority of his songs. But be sure, he put as much energy into directing every single detail of his songs even if they are mainstreamed. Also, as you noticed Michael Jackson is one of his big influence, but not everybody can top Michael Jackson as you know. Let Dimash does what he enjoys to do, an artist does things for his public (and it is a lot of pressure) but also for himself, it is often a trade off between these too. I think Dimash has an extreme care and put tons of pressure on himself to never disappoint his fans, it's a lot of pressure to always sing a new song that top your old songs, exceptionally if they were already exceptional. So far in my opinion, Dimash does a great job. Finally, I would say musical tastes are subjective since we are all different, so these more mainstream songs may be more affordable for those who are not used to Dimash's big songs. If your worries would be him to stay in this style of music, just to be popular, then listen to his interviews you will notice his way of thinking is very wise, and he is not dreaming about being famous at all cost, and he said he hoped to never become arrogant just because of his fame today *Русский* (for Russian speaking people) Я слышу вашу критику, но попробуйте на секунду задуматься, как если бы вы были артистом.

Dimash is insanely multifaceted. Thinking he belongs in an opera box is you missing the plot completely. There's hardly any song you hear him sing where he doesn't combine many different styles of music.. That alone is genius. The sky is huge Harris. Let the boy fly as far as he wants.

One of the reasons I am a fan and continue to be a fan of Dimash is that he is never boring. I have no idea what his next song will be like and that is awsome. He is so diverse and eclectic that I need only his music. I hope he continue to ignore expectations and refuse to be labeled and restricted to whatever boxes people want to put him in and just does what he likes.

One point to remember though, is that Dimash doesn't want every single number to be a jaw dropping extravaganza... he also wants some tunes to just be fun. Plus, rather than trying to expand out of his usual repertoire into a purely commercial genre; he still wants to reach those that might primarily listen to the R&B/Funk/Pop genres to also check out his variety of genres and styles [i.e. introduce them to music they might otherwise not have even given a second glance towards]... But most importantly, this also happens to be a genre that he grew up with and loved, and is one of the styles that got him even more interested in music -- plus it's also his way to pay homage to those whose music he loved listening to while growing up. One of the unique aspects of Dimash is that he's not just a One-Trick-Pony artist. He brings Popera to those who thought they hated everything Opera... He brings ballads, rock, and soul to those that previously may have been classically attuned. Most of all, he doesn't want everything to be absolutely serious [he has a great sense of humor], and sometimes just wants to do a piece which he and the audience can have fun with. It's also why he has audience members of fan ranging from toddler to senior citizen, Classical to Metal to Easy Listening to Pop, and all regardless of what language he sings in. He's not abandoning one specific genre or music style (he's not intending on strictly doing commercial projects) -- rather, he has an endless hallway of new musical doors to open and explore. As he has inferred in many interviews, he's not satisfied just sitting back or feeling that his reached his peak. Instead, he wants to continue, learning, experimenting [this was also his chance to practice some acting chops to portray a different anti-hero character], and always finding new doors to open. In fact, he had originally planned on studying Jazz through a U.S. Music Institution [he had already been accepted] while still touring, but COVID hit so that's on hold for now. While most artists are kind of meandering during the Global isolation, Dimash and his teams are still putting out multiple virtual concerts, recording new material, practicing, rehearsing, exploring new material, and even learning production and directing skills. ALWAYS REMEMBER: You Can Never Be Certain What You'll Hear From Dimash With Each New Performance 😃

Dimash just turned 27, he's young yet. When asked who his favorite 'singers' are, he answers, Michael Jackson, Celine Dion, Eminem, and Pavarotti, but also listens to Baroque. Now think about this, he has trained for over 20 years REALLY hard to produce whatever notes in whatever style he wants to sing. Who can do that? He can. He's having fun. He's been rapping for years and you can find videos of him doing that in at least part of a song. It doesn't mean he's going to be a rapper. He's far too elegant for that, musically, and has much to fall back on. Don't worry, he loves working with Igor Krutoy and Igor won't be composing any rap tunes soon. Dimash once said he wants to compose and sing beautiful music. I have no doubt he will continue to do that. Give him some room, the man LOVES to sing! Everything!! And I'm so grateful he does! I just watched an interview with his father about Be With Me. As it turns out it's as much about acting as it is singing. Along with his dreams of being a famous vocalist he also dreamed of being an actor. So he's dabbling in that through this video and also showing a different side of himself, his "inner world". See video @ 14 min. mark. Love your reactions and need to see more of them!!! We miss you! Sending all good wishes from Michigan. :-) Interview with Dimash's father about Be With Me: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mKygo5V3lsCUnXU.html

Я смотрел это официальное видео «Be With Me» с волнением.

Okay, Mr Harris...let's take a different perspective. When I first saw this video, I thought, "Wow, that's a helluva project for his doctoral program and portfolio!" I mean, who else could do something like this as part of his studies? Not sure it is part of his studies, but still... Someone wrote some observations...he wanted to do something out of the box in which he usually operates. Michael Jackson is one of his strongest influences, so there is more than a hint of MJ, here. Jackie Chan is an idol of his, too, so he added some martial arts. Each little "snippet" was a bit of a tongue-in-cheek response to some things that have been said about him. For instance, we saw him pick up the cocktail, and put it down again, without seeing him drinking it; he has said that alcohol is not part of his life. He did, however, take a big drink of water in the kitchen. When he removed his jacket in the kitchen (and threw it on a food prep station) it reminded me of a comment his mother made that he can be careless with dropping his clothes anywhere when he comes home. So, to me, the whole thing was a bit of fun, and perhaps it is a precursor to a bit of movie engagement. So, a lot of his fans flipped out over this flippant MV. Many of us simply saw it as Dimash stretching his wings and taking on a persona that challenges those who want to keep him so very "innocent". He is also recording some lovely music from his own country...Amanat is one recent one; such a beautiful and simply sung song...ok, deep breaths, everyone. Good to see you again, Mr Harris!

Anyone with a sense of how exhausting is to perform for three hours such demanding songs (like most of his songs are ) perfectly understands the reason of these kind of songs, he dosen't need ( and doesn't have to) prove anything else to anyone. He needs to "take a break" while performing with such catchy and less challenging songs.

I partially agree with you ... "It's a Justin Timberlake-style song ..." That would have been a compliment to anyone else. But not for Dimash. We got used to saying "I've never heard of such a thing" when we listened to Dimash. Yes, this song does not show his uniqueness, but it's not a simple song ... And I don't think many pop stars could sing it! ( it's a good song, much better than many others that are now heard everywere). But: 1. this song is not a direction in which Dimash is heading. In his concerts he always had "ordinary" songs. Not everything he sings in over 2 hours is out of this world. This song fits very well in his concerts. I don't know if you've seen an entire concert ... He sings opera, folk, pop, rock in 6 languages, sometimes plays piano, dombra, drums ... A concert is a dizzying mix of musical genres and cultures of the world .. Maybe not all songs are something unheard of, but to sing Olimpico - opera in Italian, then Be With Me - pop and rap in English and Kazakh, then SOS - in French, then Durdaraz - folk-rock in Kazakh, then Autumn Strong in Chinese .... this is unique! He has a song composed by him, a tribute to MJ, wich has nothing special, vocally speaking, but with which he made everyone stand up! Because during this song he danced ... and no one expects him to do that! A Dimash concert is not just about the voice! He would get bored! 2. We should not be afraid that he will choose the "mainstream path”. During this time he is working on many other songs, including a classical... thing (we don't know exactly what ... it's something complex, he didn't tell us much), he is working on an album in Kazakh, he recorded the orchestral part of a gorgeous song with the Paris Orchestra.... probably working with Krutoy on a new song for the New Wave 2021 .... and who knows what else! 3. This song was primarily a surprise for Dears. There are many things that only we know and that are present in this MV. Things that were discussed and jokes that were made in the fan groups and that he knows, of course! If this song attracts new fans ... so much the better, but I don't think that was the main goal. He did it to please some of us who wanted to see a cool Dimash! As he said in his message for us: he is different, just like his music and just like us. Every artist has a certain type of fans ... You can't say that BTS fans are also Andrea Bocelli fans ... But in Dimash's case the diversity of Dears is enormous! At a concert you will see teenagers from China, next to grannies from Russia, next to opera lovers from Italy or metalheads from USA! And he has something for everyone! And last but not least ... he enjoyed doing something he liked! As he said in an interview: “I can rap in my concerts, if I want! Who's going to stop me? It's my concert! ” This is Arnau Kinetic Voice, his biggest concert. Try it! kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nrGbZrSB3eC1c3k.html

Great critique, valid in many ways and delivered with heartfelt intentions. I don’t think Dimash would ever “leave the other stuff” he has too much grounding in the classics and respect for the teachers and education he’s received, not to mention his family. I love the old Dimash but he is young and still discovering himself and Dimash’s long held dream is to conquer America and to win a Grammy. He’ll be moving to America soon to live and work. Will be interesting. Thanks for another intelligent, respectful and thoughtful reaction. An Australian Dear🇦🇺

Dimash is very versatile and does all genres. He likes all kinds of music, including pop. Dimash can do it all and he doesn’t have to pick just one. If you listened to more of his repertoire, you’d know that he can, and has, gone back and forth between opera, folk, pop, neoclassical, rap, rock, etc. He’s not going to stop singing his “other stuff.” He’s working on a Kazakh album, he’s in the process of composing a classical piece, all while he’s going for his Ph.D. in musicology. His fans come in all ages, and from many different countries and cultures. He has something for all of them. Watch one of his concerts (which all sell out BTW). Several are on KZfaq. He doesn’t stick to any one genre and those who have gone to his concerts will tell you it’s a magical experience from beginning to end.

The problem is his ambition to be World popular. So far he doesn't have for this even one hit-song. What I see he still hasn't found this song, and I don't think that those song writers (including himself) that around him would be able to make for him that song. Yes, he can go the way that was mentioned in this video and sing some songs that will be liked by a few millions people, but I don't think that is what he wants.

I love the honesty of your reaction, but I disagree. He is a multifaceted artist and I love all of his facettes. He has always been ALL : car and truck , and a plane and and and. If you check more of his work, you will see that he has always done many genres. Because he is Dimash: he CAN. That is a big part of his uniqueness. And he will ot go pop only: he has consistently been saying that he does not want to limit himself to any single genre. He gave us completely different songs around the same time: check Amanat, or Across Endless Dimensions, or Kieli Meken. He was aware of the criticism you expressed, and gave it a lot of thought. Just as he is aware of other criticism: that he should not show his vocal acrobatics in every song. He can not please everyone and he knows it, so he chooses to do what he feels like - and THAT is a sign of a real artist. I personally love his grand pieces that make me feel awe and amazement, but I TOTALLY enjoyed this one. Just for the hook and fun - for a change😀Greetings from Austria😘

Well this just shows this reactor has no understanding of this incredibly versatile and exciting artist. He is everything musically, he is gifted, super talented, highly musical,y educated to PhD level and unbelievably creative. He can and does sing whatever comes into his mind this is what he likes to write, 1980s Steve Wonder, MJ, Quincy Jones inspired R&B, Pop, Rap and not simple. In fact this song is very complex and not easy to sing he just makes it all look effortless. He loved filming this character as its so opposite to how Dimash behaves, so he had a lot of fun. His years of Taekwando training came in very handy too. Its easy to criticise just because you don't like his choice but if you took the time to understand Dimash you would not be so negative.

I agree, when it comes to vocals it's not the goosebumps we're used to, although the bridge "I'm falling in love with your smile..." does give me something like goosebumps, even though it's nothing for Dimash to sing. But you also have to think of many of us guys and some girls - maybe we do get goosebumps...from the fight scene! Or maybe I as a musician get goosebumps from the brass arrangements of genius Erlan Bekchurin, similar to MJ, Quincy Jones & Stevie Wonder classics!! As you said, musically many levels. If you watch the behind the scenes clips available you will see that he was paying homage to two of his idols - Michael Jackson and Jackie Chan - and having a lot of fun doing it. It was an opportunity to see the more 'fun' side to Dimash that, as a young man, is good to see. He has shown his love and dedication for his 'usual' style of music as well as his 'traditional' Kazakh music, and is continuing to do so, but I still enjoy his talents demonstrated here and love the tongue in cheek humour of the video.

Watching through several interviews with him the past few years, I learned that he likes to bring Opera, folk and modern music elements into his creative work. Together with the well known Russian composer/musician, Igor Krutoy, they've formed an amazing creative duo and wrote songs like Olimpico, Know, Love of tired swans, Passione...the list goes on. These songs are specifically arranged for Dimash vocal abilities. They take you to a different dimension by listening to them. Greetings from Australia.

Dimash does not like labels, or to be all the time the same. This is different and we, as listeners have to respect his search, his innovations in the new genre. Because he has no limits in what he can do, it is his choice what's next for him and you can not say, that does not do this or that. He is free in his choice and going to be free for the rest of his life. As a listener, you may like or dislike his performance. He is 27, when else he can experiments. It's a reaction video and we can't expect everyone to react the way we want. I didn't see him insult Dimash in any way. He, like me, love the singer who is Dimash and that is why I understand him. I saw the video, I do not deny that I enjoyed it, it is very good but deep inside I felt an inexplicable fear and I told my husband about it when I got home. I am afraid that Dimash his advisers will take him in a very different direction from the one we know. I love Dimash for all that he makes me feel when he sings, it is neither high nor low notes from him; are a lot of things. His songs have very deep, healthy lyrics, inspiring lyrics; All that makes me like it. But there are many artists who have been taken by other paths just to gain more profit (It has happened many times), we do not think that things are like that, but it scares us that it could happen to them. For me it is perfect that he sings music for young boys with other tastes and pleases younger audiences and has fun doing it. But I don't want him to stop singing the music with which I met him. Let him sing a little of everything if he likes it. I also think as Mr. Harris says that people love him and listen to even lyrical music, because they like how he sings them. I only hear that kind of music from him, from anyone else. It is the reason why I am on social networks. There is not a day that I do not listen to you. I only hope that God gives him health and happiness. Greetings from Panama 🇵🇦, you are loved😘.

Dimash certainly struck a chord with mainstream listeners, as did his earlier song 'Screaming' ... but I think Dimash is a smart young man who indulges in his fun and shows that he too ' Normal 'can (he is also his own producer)... and he definitely wants to' impress' the U.S. Americans (he like the U.S.A and it works). But Dimash knows for sure that his strengths lie in the beautiful ballads, in which his virtuosity comes into its own and which blow his Dears away.

Dear Mr Harris, I knew you would'nt love this one. Let be honest with you ok? You love Dimash but you don't know him well and your Information sources are not always correctly. You love him because he kann sings like none others but he sings many stoffs. He sings Jazz, folks song, opera, neo classic, Pop, rap, etc and he did it always! so for us as fans who follow him for years it's not unusual hearing Pop songs like this. Actually most of his fans enjoy his music because of this versatility . Dimash kudaibergen has in 2020 and 2021 few new songs published and this one is actually from his digital concert on January 2021. The music video is new but not the song! He dos'nt just sing that in 2021 he has many others new songs as well, which you would like it much more like amanat, I miss you , across endless dimmensions, qairan elim and much more. So please don't think he's going to down his music to get more fans. He is not like this. Enjoy your journey with dimash and Always prepare yourself for surprise because that is Dimash, who we know! and we love him because of he is who he is!❤❤❤

i doubt he will like Amanat. He wasn't that impressed with Samaltau. Not enough range and vocal acrobatics for him. I'm afraid what Mr. Harris really wants has nothing to do with real quality or depth, he just wants to be impressed by wide range and vocal tricks. He has heard so far about 5 songs from Dimash and has no idea who this artist really is and what is really important to him. I am afraid he is on his way to be disappointed when he realizes that most Dimash's songs are not about 6 octaves range and vocal acrobatics.

@@Chabtung yes, you are absolutely right and honestly I think it is also okay somehow. everyone has different tastes. not all songs are equally popular even with fans. that is normal. therefore we have to be careful when we making recommendations. I don't know who recommended this song to him. he obviously knows very little about dimash and is more like someone like you mentioned, loves range and vocal technique, then I wouldn't recommend pop songs for him. People recommend stoffs without paying attention to such things just because they like these songs themselves. Mr. Harris knows only 7 songs based of his reactions videos. There are so many songs like diva dance, daybreak, love is like a dream, pssione, know and much more, that he would proberly like and love. I think Mr. Harris just afraid that Dimash would change his music to become more famouse but he dos'nt need. It's all just becouse he dos'nt know him well and got unfortunately a wrong recommendation.😘

As a very loyal Dimash Dear, I have to agree with you in that this is a watered-down version of his singing prowess. On the other hand, he wrote the music for this, and it is a high-quality pop song and video. I believe he wants to go in this direction to get more recognition in America (because, let's face it, the majority of we Americans have crappy taste in music! 😂), and he eventually qualify for a Grammy. He is young, and I understand how he would want to do more pop-style songs. I, too, hope that he doesn't abandon his operatic roots.

Everything is subjective in this world! Dimash feels music everywhere and in everything! He is so talented in so many ways and so brave to try different genres that he likes either…. He admires MJ and never forget to do something in his name! And he wanted to do some kind of action MV (respect to Jacky Chang)… and he likes to surprise his fans… I like this MV a lot with vibes of comedy and fun for him! Did you ever try his solo concert? He sings “abnormal “ and “normal” vocal songs, alternating them (does he need a little rest during 3 hours solo?) he dances, communicates and jokes with the audience! And he Loves his fans and what he does! He has a freedom to do what he wants, and it is great! There is no way to “buy” him, and it is great either! Love his diversity so much!

If you think about it, Dimash has worked super hard for years, getting his masters degrees and his doctorate, doing all his concerts and charities and flying all over the place, learning multiple languages since the singer competition in 2017, writing and composing music. He probably needs a “break”, these things are easy and fun for him. Maybe he just needs that. He is doing a concert somewhere soon, well, he was until this new COVID outbreak, hope it doesn’t get cancelled. He can do his fun things as long as he doesn’t forget to come back to us, and I am pretty sure he won’t.
