For Dimash, this is the most difficult song to sing, due to the story behind it. Samaltau means Mount Samal. The lyrics are sad because they refer to when in 1916 the Russians recruited young Kazakhs and forced them to fight in the First World War. According to the lyrics, a young man who marches towards the battle zone thinks about what awaits him and suffers for what will happen to his parents, who are old and left alone, and who may not return alive. On the way he also thinks that it will be the last time he will see his house and his beautiful mountains. For Dimash, family union and love for her is one of the greatest things, hence the difficulty in interpreting it. The Russian tsar and recruiters treated us like cattle (they didn't feed us, they kept us in unsanitary conditions). That is why, out of 400,000 (Kazakh) soldiers recruited in the first months, 150,000 died of disease and starvation. They did not give us weapons, they fought with shovels against cannons and rifles. Of the 400,000 Kazakh soldiers, 300,000 conscripted Kazakhs did not return home (the fate of the author of this song is unknown; perhaps he died in that war)- KOBYZ Kobyz is an ancient instrument, it was used by the wise and referents to drive away evil spirits, formerly its two strings were made with horsetail Greetings from Panama.

The Kazakh people has a very painful history. Under Joseph Stalins tyrranie aswell. They didn't fully become independent until 1991. And millions has sufferd and died under these years under Russia. Dimash is a patriot. He loves his nation, his people and their traditions and is so proud to be Kazakh! 😍😍😍

In "Samaltau " puoi sentire i lupi ululare, abbaiare,correre....

Hello! I will quote Dimash's words: “Whichever Kazakh song I choose, its message will always be deep and philosophical (I'm also a bit of a philosopher - DI words). Therefore, you can take any Kazakh folk song and just listen to it. There are moments when my Kazakh side penetrates into my singing - I am Kazach. I also like to introduce elements of symphonic music and sounds of traditional Kazakh instruments and then merge them into one whole " ... Dimash loves his country and people very much, he is a huge patriot of his Motherland. After Dimash appeared, other nations began to say that the Kazakhs are the most singing people in the world. Then a lot of Kazakh talent came out and was heard, but this is Dimash's greatest contribution, he broke the silence, he burst in like a spoiler, like a bulldozer that opens the sewers. And it happened! He has opened the way for Kazakh Culture and presents it to the world. Dimash brought Kazakhstan back, restored the traditional art of singing - this is his first merit. introduces the whole world into this art - this is his second great merit. Dimash is a flagship, it was born exactly when people needed it. It was born from the epoch, time, hopes and aspirations of people, their thoughts and desires. That is why Dimash is a phenomenon. It can be said with certainty that Dimash restored to the Kazakh people the spirit of freedom that had disappeared within them. Best regards and love from Poland.

This bowl-neck lute played with a bow is is an old Turkic stringed instrument and called Kobys or Kylkobyz in Kazakhstan. The Kyrgyz variant, for example, is called the kyl-kyyak. The Kobys is the oldest string instrument in the world and, according to a German scientist, it spread beyond the borders of the nomadic area of Central Asia and became the mother (means: prototype) of all European string instruments. (Turkic means: The Turkic peoples are a collection of ethnic groups from Central, East, North and West Asia as well as parts of Europe and North Africa who speak Turkic languages.) A legend about Kobyz says that this instrument was created by the great steppe narrator Korkyt-Ata, who lived in the 10th century and that the tool is charged with magical and even mystical properties and sounds like animal voices. In addition, the Kazakh people believed that the spirits of their ancestors spoke to them through this music. The old outlook and piety towards their instruments and music was constantly preserved in traditional Kazakh society and ensured the highest spiritual level of musical art and a special respectful attitude towards musical instruments. Simple people, for example, did not dare to touch the shaman's Kobyz. It is said: The balance between the courses of life and death on earth can be maintained by playing the Kobyz.

This is one of my favorite songs, Dimash voice and instrumentation are amazing. The best version is the one for the Tokyo Jazz Festival. ❤️🎤🔝🌹🌹 Kobyz is an ancient tool of the peoples who lived in the East, including nomads. It was used in ancient times by steppe shamans-healers for various rites. Kobyzy is made from a single piece of wood. This is one of the oldest ways of making musical instruments in the history of mankind. It is not due to technical backwardness or the lack of metal devices. According to the ancient beliefs of many people, only in a single piece will the living singing soul of the tree remain, which will sound in the instrument. The open body and strings of the kobyz from a bunch of 30-60 untwisted horse hair give a very thick, overtone-rich. The gentleman playing the Kobyz is master Olzhas Qurmanbeck, the best player in Kazakhstan 🎻🔝

Dimash is the best singer in the WORLD and there are no doubts about that, his voice is a prodigy of nature and a genetic marvel since his parents are two glories of singing from Kazakhstan since he was 5 years old, he sings publicly and has more than twenty years of lyrical training and graduated from the university of music, he is a singer, composer, arranger and multi instrumentalist, he plays more than seven musical instruments and sings in more than Ten(10) languages, he is also a great performer and a great artist who lives and feels music He is not an imitator of voices , Dimash has his own style and is one of the forerunners of the "POPera" he also has a very pleasant, HUMBLE and simple personality, easy access, which makes it very easy to follow, he always travels with His family and friends is a very educated person and an example to follow, he has become known for his musical talent not for getting into trouble or scandals, It has a very wide vocal range of approximately 7 octaves ,he is a singer with a wide vocal range very versatile is Baritone, TENOR , Soprano, counter TENOR, mezasoprano, everything at the same time is how to have 5 singers in one, it has a male and female voice, also many resources such as vibrato, "melismas", falsetto, Staccato, whistle tone, reaching a( D8 )live "Outside of Piano"at the concert of Gakku in an unforgettable day, at his young age he continues to improve and grow musically to perfection, he has a good physical presence he measures 191 cm or 6 "3", he is very famous and recognized in Asia and now he is becoming known In Europe and America, ALL their songs are spectacular, it always goes from low to high, soft to spectacular at the end, in my almost half a century of life I never heard so much quality and it is the hope of continuity of the classical genre because all the old tenors have already Almost all of them died and Dimash can sing like them but none of them can sing like Dimash, being a Man he sings better than any Tenor and his female voice is superior to that of any average Soprano, greetings and a hug from USA 🇺🇸 "Dears" Forever ❤️👍🏻 Sorry for copying and pasting my informative comment in ALL the Video reactions to Dimash what I see but I do it with the intention of sharing information about him and what I think that in the music industry there are many artists who have been successful and have no talent and are bad people and they do not set a good example for the youth, Dimash and his music deserve to triumph in America, Europe and the whole WORLD, do you want to have already read my comment please come by without problem there is always someone who for the first time knows this information and I won't get tired of sharing it with all my friends"Dear" around the world, thanks for reading and for supporting Dimash 🙏🏻S.O.S. The beauty of the qobyz and Dimash singing in his native tongue is hypnotic. I don’t want to get into the politics behind the song because I don’t believe it is Dimash’s intent to cause dissent among his dears. War is horrible and it often causes humanity to be forgotten. Dimash’s mission (in my heart) seems to be to bring the humanity back. Every song demonstrates Dimash’s connection to humanity above all else. Yes, he has a strong sense of loyalty to his people and his homeland, but I don’t believe he intends to divide people but to reconnect them through music. We all hold onto personal beliefs and biases, but we are all human and need to gain the ability to see things from each others’ points of view. I am tearful - not only from the history behind the song, but because there is such a disconnect between the words that people hear when they choose not to listen. I love the beauty of words, but with Dimash, we should just let our hearts listen. Maybe Vocalise would be a good option as a next song?

But the emotions he makes us feel when we listen to him sing are above and beyond any other singer I’ve heard in my 76 years. Your right about his hands. I love your reaction on this, Aylin. You totally got it and that`s not often seen on youtube. Samaltau was my favourite song for a long time and still is one of my favourite songs. The lyrics are from a letter of an unknown soldier, but it`s historical. For me it was the first time ever to hear the sound of the Khobyz and it got me instantly. The pain and desperation Dimash conveys in that song make this song a song for peace. There are different versions of this song. I like the more simple version most from his home-studio for the Tokio Jazz festival.

I'm beginning to love your reactions above any others as you really understand what he's about. I've heard many reactors laugh about the "theatrics" and the"drama". They just don't get that he absolutely absorbs the music and the story and breathes it back out in notes that grip the listeners heart and soul. The Dears have been asking him for a Kazakh album for years but I don't think he realises just how much the Kazakh music speaks to all of us across the borders. Qairan Elim, Elim Menin, Kieli Meken, Daididau, Durduraz and Qaragym Ai are more Kazakh songs that are amazing. Personally I prefer the earlier version of Qaragym Ai as he was singing it as a tribute to the composer who was also his teacher and mentor who died from Covid during the pandemic.

Hey Debbie! I get that Dimash is not for everyone, but knowing in advance that he’s about to sing about a country’s war history and then laugh just breaks my heart. Another commenter just described how all of us in fact just live so comfortable today is because our ancestors suffered horribly, and even though Dimash did not have to experience this himself, I absolutely believe that he does feel it. I will react to more of his Kazakh music soon 🙌🏼♥️

@@aymoonchild7573 oh he feels it, he loves his country and his whole push into the international music scene has not only been about him becoming famous but about introducing his country's culture and music to a world that had barely heard of Kazakhstan before he erupted as a global superstar. Daididau is a beautiful folk song written by a poet imprisoned in the early part of the 20th century for being a dissident. This was arranged by Dimash himself and a friend of his father when Dimash was just 15 years old. He does two very emotional performances of this. One in the Bastau concert and the other in the New York concert where he explains in English what the song means to him and he ends up sat on the stage shaking his head in disbelief when 30,000 people from 60 countries around the world sing the song with him.

Re: hand movements:- his hands, fingers help him to locate the notes in his mind (Vocal imagery). Dimash moves so much in his range and changes techniques, he can't really know if he's sounding like he wants to, so he has to sing using his memory. I don't think it's a coincidence that he can learn different languages, his style is cerebral, requires intelligence.

Russia did not grant Kazakhstan the right to be a republic until 1991. Dimash was born in 1994, He is a fierce patriot to his land and i admire him for that. Recently, when he was in China, unrest began in Kazakhstan and Russia was involved. Some of this was going on in his home town. Dimash had his family send him a Kazak flag and he wrapped it around himself in singing events while he was in China. He was openly disturbed and though his family does not believe in saying gad things about others, his mother (Sveta) did call the disturbers a name or two.

This song always makes me emotional because I know how painful it is for him to sing...plus, he portrays that so efficiently while singing it. Such a sad but beautiful representation of that era, especially now that his country is suffering. Another oh-so-very-beautiful Khazak video that he has is when it starts with a lineup of talented Dombra players, and then he appears also playing the dombra and sings this very emotional song of a man that was unjustly arrested and while he was in jail, he thought his wife left him...it's soo emotional. Here is the link.kzfaq.info/get/bejne/iMdkqZRqt9aak4U.html.Thanks for your reaction.
