Thank you for watching what is likely the last video I'll ever make on Dimash! I actually think he's a fantastic vocalist, as is entirely evident in how I talk about him in this video. Do I think he lipsynced in this performance? Yes. Does that matter at all or impact how I feel about him as a singer? Not at all. Does me saying my educated opinion about this bring out extremely toxic and shallow fans? Absolutely. To those telling me that he's a better vocalist than I am: you're right. I never said he wasn't. It also doesn't matter at all. I'm a singing teacher. I sing myself, but I pride myself on helping my students become better singers. I am very successful at that. Singing and teaching are entirely separate skills. That said I do think I'm a quite competent singer, and you could judge for yourself by watching the videos of me singing on this very channel. Stan culture is completely broken.

dude, im so sorry that you're getting shit for this. there are a lot of dimash fans that get very defensive really quickly- there are fans like that in all fandoms but ive seen people get a lot of hate for saying anything perceived as a negative or a criticism of dimash and it sucks. saying he lipsynced isnt even really a negative thing, we already know he can sing his ass off, also some shows just dont let artists sing live for whatever reason. i really would love to see you make more videos on dimash but i understand if you dont. thanks for always keeping it real with us, and im sorry you had to see the immature, toxic side of the fandom.

I'm one of those who think Dimash sung this live, but I also believe I could be wrong. You're the expert. I think it's sad that many of us can't just converse and then at the end agree to disagree, but still bond over our mutual love and appreciation for a great talent. Thank you for what you do, Sam. I appreciate it. 👍🏾 I hope you eventually change your mind and do more Dimash videos.

Artists often lip sync or have their televised performances dubbed over, (especially in other countries for some reason). Yes, even people who are amazing singers and perform live all the time. It's not that big of a deal and it doesn't imply anything negative to acknowledge it. Whoever your favorite artist is - they have lip synced at some point. There's this negative connotation with lip synicing, people think it implies only people who are bad at signing use it to prop themselves up. But that's really not true, especially not with modern performances. But a lot of fans take anything that's not 100% adoration and gushing over their fave as criticism or negativity - that's just stan culture. I guess we all went through those phases but some fan bases are WAY more intense than others so I don't blame you. It's unfortunate because I got introduced to his music through your videos but I respect your decision.

i work as a sound engineer and stated this already in other videos. 1. The fact that he is wearing an in ear monitor is OFTEN a good indicator of a live singing . 2. many tv shows do post edit work and filter sound or even dub a prerecorded track entirely over the performance. So it might be that the audience in this show hear something different than we do or the same. 3. the artist itself has no right to decide what will be done to it, since he is neither owing the song or the tv show. 4. using pre recorded vocals of rehearsals or a "mix back"(partially lip sync) is done very often, and its done with every artist i know like (michael jackson, beyonce, and on and on...) In the end it doesnt make a difference to me. The song was performed by dimash at some point anyway. either way, dimash is a monster and one of the best vocalists out there.

Dimash has stated that in Russia some programs and tv stations won’t allow artists to perform live. This may be one of those times, the only people who know are the artists and production crews. As you reiterated so many times. We all know he is incredible, pre recorded or not, this is his voice.... so anyone taking um bridge at your comments should really have a serious chat to themselves. 😊

This was not the case. At some TV programs a singer simply cannot sing life, that's true. This is because not all programs (premises) have the right music technology. However, this time, Dimash performed at a concert hall. There was a big concert for the audience. And that was not an official (state, gov-t) event.

It doesn't bother me that you asked about lip syncing because you acknowledge that he is capable of singing those notes and because you are still teaching from his technique that you are seeing and hearing. I still learned something from you and felt like you were respectful to him as an artist. You're not crazy that it sounds a little extra polished. Like others have said, it's highly possible that the Russian show overlayed the studio version in post-production to give the aired version a more polished feel. So he was singing it live at the show, it's just that they altered it in post-production.

I'm a huge fan of Dimash, but when I think it's in Lip sync I have no problem saying it. I have listened to many lives and I know what he is capable of, I know he can sing it even better than the studio versions. I marvel at those who are avid fans and don't realize the difference, looking at Dimash's mouth, jaw and head movements, when he sings live.

During the video, he constantly repeats that he is lipsyncing, saying that he doesn't care what they say in the comments. But then he gets offended by people's criticism. If he has doubts he should investigate and then comment before uploading the video. Because as a professional he is being just as "toxic" as the people he criticizes. Considering that many people have accused Dimash of lip syncing, and this has evidently affected him to the point that in many of his performances he shakes the microphone to show that he is singing. This is another performance but it is clear that he is live and sings it the same: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mbeUhqWQt924eX0.html Sorry for my English.

The best proof that it's lipsync is that he's not wearing his ear monitor. Just like SOS Slavic Bazaar and Love is like a dream. I watched a video of Dimash singing in China a long time ago, and honestly it didn't sound as smooth. And in the place where he usually goes way up, he stayed lower (still quite high) but instead did some beautiful runs. I wondered why until he started speaking answering some questions. He sounded totally congested. He must have been sick and yet he sang live and just changed the song so he could still sing it! I mean so far he has proved it's important for him not to lip sync and I'm sure he did sing live. The one you should attack is the Russian TV, which does post-production tricks simply because it's more convenient for them (stone-age technologies) not thinking about the reputation of the singer.

Some people make no sense. It's been over a year since Sam did his last reaction to Dimash. If he never does another one, how will that affect your life? By continuing to comment on this video, the only thing you accomplish is to increase the views and increase the comments, both of which make the video rise in youtube's algorithms and make it show up higher in youtube's recommended videos. If Sam believes a particular performance is LS, or if he doesn't believe that, so? You're not going to change anyone's opinion by anything you say. If you don't like Sam's analysis or his opinion, pass it by and watch something else you do like. Life is short. Everyone stay well and stay safe.

I have seen him perform live and Dimash has a killer voice! You can always tell when he is singing live and when he's singing with a track behind him. But that doesn't bother me because he's actually singing the song with the track and he's always on pitch he has to do that a lot of times for certain performances because they won't allow you to sing live and I get that but if you skim around and look at all of his videos live he sings live a lot and he always sounds the same live singing to a backtrack lip-syncing it's, all the same, his voice is that solid.

Hi Sam, sorry you got treated rudely. Maybe if you get an answer, you will come back to Dimash. I thought at first it was a bit too perfect and wondered if it was lip synced until I saw the fancams post their videos (plus Krutoy is pounding an 80K piano awfully hard if it were a fake performance). Hopefully you will look at the fancams (the one in front row proves it's live to a 99% certainty once you put on headphones). Other vocal coaches wondered if this was lip synced but there is a ton of evidence to the contrary. Several watching him sing live (and remember he has two famous opera singers reviewing his work) wonder how when he is in a live concert he is so clear, almost never missing a note, and can shape notes in a more relaxed manner than even some of the best singers when he is in a live setting. He also has extra long vocal cords per his own words. If you knew which few performances Dimash was forced to lip sync due to TV requirements, and he has made it clear he hates lip syncing, you would understand better why so many were shocked that you did not, after the performance, check for fan cams or other versions of the performance (often when a video is posted, someone else posts the song on their channel, thus their video player can distort it easily up to a tenth of a second or even more). The fan cam taken from front row, you can clearly hear him breathing and the video is timed perfectly. Someone who was at the live concert days before this performance noted Dimash sang 2 and half hours live, then the next day, is filmed practicing intently at Igor Krutoy's home for this performance, which would not make sense if he was going to lip sync. Krutoy composed music several months earlier, Fabian wrote lyrics in a matter of days, and then it went into production for orchestration recording (I even wondered if Krutoy was playing live knowing everything else was prerecorded) very early as everyone knew the song was scheduled to be previewed on March 9th. I suspect this one turned out so good live they didn't have to do anything much if anything to the live video and just posted it a day early.

No one is contesting that Dimash can sing, it's just clear that he's LSing here. It also doesn't matter, I think it's just frustrating when people can't accept it. Nobody is perfect every day, everyone gets sick, everyone needs a little post-production help now and then. Also, not a note that is being played on that piano (no matter how wonderful the pianist) is audible; I doubt it's even mic'd. Any piano we hear is in the master that is being played through speakers. Look at 4:30 / 5:42 / 6:02 (his hands are even in the wrong octave on the piano for what we can hear). It doesn't/shouldn't matter though. It's worth just acepting that people don't perform live ALL the time.

@@uknowwho889 I understand your frustration, but don't try to judge what you don't understand, it's out of your reach. Dimash's talent and vocal skills are incomprehensible to septic people. There are those who accept his gift and his talent without judging and others who are skeptical and who live in doubt. Many people dont trust their own capacity and they will doubt their own life (social phenomenon). No one is contesting that anybody can sing, But Dimash has achieved the impossible. some people just can't accept what they saw and heard (THE VOICE). Dimash is great as a singer but he lacks as an artist, his songs don't convey deep meanings that's 1, 2nd of all his performances are not that touching, he is great he can make you go Wow but not "holy fuck I felt that there's a fucking lump in my throat". Stop fucking overhyping him, yes he's fucking great, is he the greatest? Not by a fucking long shot: Chris Cornell, Layne Staley, Freddie Mercury, Chester Bennington, Brent Smith in his early days, etc... Are all more successful artists and way better songwriters.

Both you and fans are not wrong. You watch the voiced over official video released online and many fans watch the live singing and record it. Many of his videos are like that especially the ones in Russia. That doesn't mean it's lip syncing because he did sing live there on the stage just that you don't get to hear that version. You have to be present to hear that. Why get upset??? You introduced your friend Dr Marc Reynold to Dimash and he has since reacted to most of his performances. You see the guy on the piano? That's Igor krutoy. You'd say so? Well the thing is this guy is so rich he can buy an island in Greece as big as Manhattan so he can live on it alone. The point is, he doesn't need money. As the matter of fact he was retired when he discovered dimah, ironically in another performance where he was accused of lipsynching. Yet Igor witnessed that performance, sinful passion, and gave it a standing ovation. Because he knew it was live, since he was in the front line, listening in amazement. Ok, you'd say, what's your point? Well my point is this, Igor doesn't travel to play piano behind a lipsynching performance. It's because he doesn't need money anymore, and he is more famous than poutine himself. He is travelling and showing right now only for the pleasure of the music after associating his career with Dimash. He is doing it for fun, and want it all real. GloriaW, where are you?

Tried hard watching the fancams around...scrutinizing his mouth to spot any signs of his lip syncing slip up, but can't seems to find any....can somebody enlighten us in which frame did he appear to lipsync? As with any rational listeners, I am open to the possibility that Dimash lip-sync. He may have. But isn't it weird that till now, with all the fancams at almost all his shows, concerts....productions, etc....there's still no conclusive evidence that he is out of sync with the sound as far as realtime performance is concerned. Isn't he supposed to be exposed by those sound engineers, instrumentalists, production crews....or even those front-row audience sitting just feet away from him by now, if he were to be lip syncing away in so many so called "seemingly perfect" performance. The idea that he could be lip syncing so perfectly in each of these perfect performance is so mind boggling that it defies logic. Dimash is a dramatist. With big movements (to say the least...and sometimes exaggerated, i'd say) and often nonchalant swaying of the mic away from his mouth, to the long pauses of his songs (those melodramatic ones esp), wouldn't it be risky to lip sync as Dimash did (purportedly) ? He must be one hell of a brave singer to do that with such dramatic movements and risk slipping up at some point, no? He must have balls of steel to have fancams, TV cameras all pointing at him, all waiting to catch "that slip up" moment....seriously... If indeed he is lip syncing, I would consider him a freak for his absolutely insane ability to sync perfectly with the audio in every performance. I don't count those TV-produced videos... where lag and synchronizing issue is always present, thus rendering the videos moot in trying to look for clues of LS....some of them are so badly synchronized that it is really shocking that it is being published at all...to be honest. And to those who think that post-production makes Dimash's performance "perfect", I really can't disagree more. Post-produced (with all the mixing, mastering, removing background/audience noise) actually "flattened" his voice immensely and even makes his higher-pitches sound.....erm.....screechy...or shrill.....Those who've watched the fancams will notice that in reality, they are not shrill at all. The resonance & echo through the speakers, the reverberation throughout the room/venue are all lost in those post-production works. It is night and day, hearing the TV/touched up videos as compared to the fancams.... Try "my heart will go on" rehearsal in Bilibili and you will know.....It is almost like 2 different performance. The official one is so "flat", esp towards the end that it is almost unbearable to hear....in fact most of his more "pop" songs are just average songs...in my humble opinion.... And before you say that i am a diehard Dimash fan who go all out to defend him, I will say that not all of his experiments (i think he's still experimenting with his voice....or delivering techniques) with the more "pop-oriented" songs are to my taste, e.g the crazy runs and belting towards the end of ABM, Adagio and Memory - Cats are some of the not-so-tastefully-done specimens..... but that is just a personal taste. And taste is subjective. Have not been to his concerts, but those fancams showing his crystal clear, powerful, and resonant voice convinced me that it must have been a spine-tingling experience... hearing his voice penetrating your body (and soul)... Even with the fancams (mostly with mobile devices, not pro recording equipment mind you), you couldn't help but feel the reverberation of his powerful, yet subtle, crystal clear when it is needed, voice thoughout your whole body ... Why the need to lip sync unless being forced to? And if he's being forced to, it has nothing to do with the singer. Post-production videos of Dimash's performance with bad synchronization issues... these should not be used to analyse whether he's singing live. Ask those sound/production crew....or those audience who can hear his voice "leaking" through the mic while he's singing.....those "leakages" or sound that you hear which didn't pass thru the loudspeakers......those are not captured by the final "touched-up/post-produced" videos..... And singing consistently is not a solid evidence either.....there are still nuances (in language, pauses, delays, accents..etc.) which will be picked up upon closer scrutiny....so why would he risk all that to be caught later? So, whether he lip sync or not, does it matter? YES, of course. Cos if he indeed lip sync... then it only goes to prove that he is not only daring in his departure of the music norm...etc. ..in his mixing of wildly different styles in one song (or not happy being restricted to one genre), his experiments with his mixed voice limits (how precise he wants his mix of air or chest ratio in each of his mixed belt), his timbre and colours he choses to use as his voice scale/pitch ascend....... On TOP of all that, he chooses to lip sync while doing all of the acrobatics....while making dramatic (read...ridiculously large) movements (physically and also the mic included).... What an amazing feat indeed.... If that is true....then He is perhaps the most cutting edge/experimental of singers/artists of all time...He's not merely revolutionizing music, he is revolutionizing how lip syncing is supposed to be done....and elevating the art of lip syncing to seemingly inhuman level of precision.....It's like he's saying .....don't just analyse those videos or waste your time doing those frequency matching tests.... come catch me doing lip syncing LIVE if you can..... ;)

A very rational perspective and one I share and I suspect many others do. He may very well be lip syncing some performances, though we know in some live performances he's so good and he seems to be so good at lip syncing (assuming he does, which I'm open to) that it's so hard to tell. Yet despite so many people being so confident any consistent performance is lip sync'd I don't see any real in-depth videos or articles from any real experts (or even attempts by amateurs) grinding out the evidence why they think it's lip syncd. Part of the problem is live vocal mixing and processing is so good that it's sometimes hard to tell just a heavily processed vocal drenched in reverb (which is often the case for these premiers by Dimash and anyone in the industry) so I think sometimes people underestimate that side of it. Which minus actual autotune I'm fine with, heavy reverb is often just trying to replicate an acoustically designed opera hall in venues that can't offer the same thing. I mean with so much reverb and sound mixing it's interesting how people think you can't end up with very similar performances. I mean many operas in great acoustic halls that are done multiple times can have significant parts that sound pretty much identical, especialy when someone trains to perform that over and over... and something like this would theoretically be even easier to perform a shorter piece live and consistent, especially with electronic reverb and mixing added. Now something like a full on 2-3 hour concert, especially with subpar audio (which happens for any performer) that will be significantly harder to reproduce so you see a lot of variation. Does this mean he has to be lip syncing just because he can reproduce a reverb drenched relatively short performance? Certainly it's not an absolute. Humans can often reproduce consistent physical results often in surprising ways that simply shock people. Just look at gymnasts or choreographed dancers. At the highest levels in a controlled environment it's simply stunning how well things can be reproduced. Honestly the it's too consistent to be real reminds me of countless claims over 20+ years of playing PC shooters that I'm aimbotting. Just because I get a consistent streak of really good nearly pixel perfect headshots. I'm not even a pro who can do it even more consistently. I've never once used an aim bot so I take it as a compliment and usually a reflection of the ignorance of the other person on how if you do the same thing over and over you can often perform highly consistently, especially in streaks. Does this mean he's not lip syncing, no. In fact I personally suspect certain performances are. Sinful Passion is really hard to not consider highest on the list with the rehearsal being so close (though even then there's subtle differences that are probably just the audio recording both but really really hard to be 100%). Though I think there's a burden of proof if someone says they are absolutely sure he is lip syncing. Sam here is a pro and qualifies it fully. That he thinks it but he's not sure and that's fair enough. I still have yet to see a single in-depth explanation backing things up that he's lip sync'ed a single performance. So it's easy for people to say "obviously" without proving anything. Likewise people need to not be offended just because people "think" he's lip syncing. It's kind of like ghosts or bigfoot. In this age where everyone has a video camera in their pocket I expected consistent provable videos out there that are clearly not faked. Likewise I would think there would be a great break down of why a specific performance is lip sync'd by either a professional or skilled amateur using multiple fan cams etc. Until then I'm skeptical about any confidence in lip syncing. Otherwise people can't be 100% sure he's lip syncing just like people should be careful to be 100% sure he isn't if he's not waving the mic or something like that to show it.

Please keep reacting to artists like Dimash. Don't let disrespectful and closed minded people dictate your choices. If they can't comprehend you explaining yourself that's their problem. We appreciate your opinion whether it's about artists we enjoy or not. Everybody can get defensive but your analysis won't break true fans. True fans can listen to you and still adore the artist they admire while entertaining and taking into consideration both sides.

Your comment is an example of how "foolish" this whole debate has become. You "truly" believe that he CAN sing it himself? Even if he was using "playback". It was "playback" of HIS singing. Unless you are starting another "theory" that Dimash does not really sing at all. But is just using an other persons playback. What a waste of time. Dimash is one of the best singers the World has ever produced and we are talking about all this nonsense. What a shame. (By the way, I do blame Sam for most of this. He could have made his thoughts about this subject a sideshow, Instead of the main event.)

My impression is that you meant......"I truly believe he can sing it LIVE". But revisiting this issue still gives me the impression that a lot of "words" and a lot of "emotions" were wasted. Dimash is a great singer. That fact was lost in the conversations.

Honestly, as someone who has wanted Dimash closely for ages, and had watched tons of live performances and a few lip sync performances, I would say, in my opinion, this is definitely a live performance. You might think that his mouth shape does not correspond with what he is singing, but it’s probably because he is still learning English, and his pronoun citation and mouth shape might not be the same as we do just yet. Also, the vibe he gives off during the performance is definitely from his live performances, as during his lip sync ones it feels kind of fake, and empty, since he is not a professional as lipsyncing, he is a professional as singing live, so again, in my opinion, I am 100% sure this is live. Tell me what you think, do you agree, or have I missed something?

Euler's Identity I agree. I’m not saying that he never lipsyncs, since some of the shows he has been to requested him to lip sync. But I believe he does not do it unnecessarily. Even when he was sick, he decided not to perform instead of lipsyncing a performance and giving the audience a ‘false’ performance. But in this song, I really think he did not lip sync, you can really feel that he’s into it, and that does not happen when he lip syncs. About sinful passion, maybe he did the exact same actions and vocals because that is how he wants it to be during the actual performance, and....there is a video that shows how he did not lip sync during Sinful Passion, it showed that his larynx was in place during his high notes, which obviously do not happen during lip syncing. I’m not trying to start some huge argument, but if you still think I’m wrong we could have a little debate 🙂
@rouyuyap662

Rosannasfriend Vocal chords have to be taken care of, you are absolutely right. But Dimash has been training for over 20 years, and his vocal chords are very flexible and trained. That might help him do more performances, but obviously maybe not ALL of them. He does take care of his voice very much, and probably because of his range and his training he would find it easier to sing these ‘hard’ songs, that is what I think. But feel free to tell me if I’m wrong 😅

I’m curious to see/ hear exactly what part you’re referring to. The only reason I suspected he was lip syncing was because of his little skip towards the back of the stage. Keeping the breath consistent would be nearly impossible, but then again I’m out of shape and not a perfectionist. It would’ve interesting for more info to corroborate this. But overall, I wrote that off as nearly conjecture since Dimash does have the capability and work ethic to pull this off live.

The song was premiered at the annual showing of the famous Russian haute couture fashion designer Valentin Yudashkin along with other Russian singers (who wore his clothes) on March 8 at the Kremlin Palace. It was not performed in a television show. The Kremlin Palace is also the venue of other Dimash performances in the past and nobody questioned if he sang those songs live or was lipsynch-ing. Igor Krutoy has posted videos of him and Dimash rehearsing the new song at his house the night before the show, because it was going to be the first time they were going to perform the song which was written by Lara Fabian. Russian entertainment reporters have interviews with Dimash and Igor where both were not even too sure of premiering the new song. So the premiere of the new song in the fashion event which also fell on World Women's Day created such a buzz. Dimash also sang "Passione" in the same show with a choir singing in the background. So did he sing it live or lipsynch on this occasion? Russian and Chinese fancams which show Dimash with his wide-open mouth and his tongue, and him breathing heavily after singing, seem to indicate "Your Love" was performed live.
