Hello. Dimash IS an opera singer. He was invited to join the Astana Opera, wich he refused because in opera you can't add other notes than what is supposed to be. He is clasical trainned and can sing as a baritone, tenor, soprano... but he also sings other genres of music like pop, jazz, rap! His highest note is a D8, wich is outside the piano, and you can listen in the Gakku concert with the song "Unforgetable Day" that he wrote. Ave Maria means "All Hail Mary" and it is a prayer to Maria the mother of Jesus for the Catholic Church. It is not ONE song: many composers used that prayer as lyrics for their compositions Most people thought this would be the traditional prayer but this is not the Franz Schubert´s Ave Maria, on Bach/Gounod´s, or Michael Lorenc´s or Ave Maria di Caccini. I know them well because I used to play them when I studied to play the piano. His singing this being a muslim in a country where there are almost no Christians would be completely misunderstood. Dimash did a new one composed by Igor Krutoy and I guess that it started to take form from that featuring in "Love is like a dream. It has not lyrics, it is magic using only one vowel and impressing on it the feeling of that prayer.

Dimash has performances in many genres, it looks like the last one you reacted to was “Together” which is a pop song written by his 16 year old brother. Maybe you aren’t a fan of his work that doesn’t involve crazy vocal acrobatics? If that’s all you are after, then stick to his neoclassical performances, because the pop and folk performances don’t usually showcase that. If you haven’t watched “Ikanaide” yet, I highly recommend it.

If I'm not mistaken, this “Ave Maria” by composer and conductor Igor Krutoy is a work in vocalize format, completely unpublished, although it seems to be a variation of the initial theme (not the introduction but the singing part) of the melody by Schubert adapted to Dimash's voice in order to explore just as three initial notes and changing the fourth note to a higher note (From B4, A4 D#4 C#4 and B4 to G#4, G4, G4, D#5): Like a leap from "dark to light" which is the same contrast as Dimash's outfit (from dark to light)! It also seems to refer to the Russian V. Vavilov's version of "Ave Maria" (wrongly credited to Caccine) and work by JS Bach - Prelude No. 1 in C major, BWV 846, with arrangements by Gounod, which Maetro Igor Krutoy has a predilection for!

Audio sounds good, mics sound good, and the video is playing at normal speed. I think we have a winner here. 😉

Dimash doesn't stick to a genre, so I'm sure there are some people who don't like him in certain ones. (Some people are not that happy with his pop side.) He just announced a new song and video...and it looks like he might be a vampire. 😄 We are completely in the dark on this one.
