Kazakhstan was part of the USSR and became their own republic in 1991. Dimash was born in 1994. He speaks Russian as well as Kazakh fluently. The instrument was a dombra. 2017 was the first time Dimash ever performed on what he calls “the adult stage”. He was only 22 and spoke very little English. He has improved 90% and speaks English better than a whole bunch of Americans. I often wonder even what schools some of my sisters attended because they only speak English and sometimes do a very poor job. I love Dimash, he’s humble, respectful, talented, and has trained hard since he was just 5 years old. He has the utmost respect for his family and surrounds himself with people he knows and trusts. He’s got a silly side to him too like all of us. Great reaction.

I love the way he took this traditional folk song, started out traditionally, and the modernized it with a funky jazz rendition. Love me some Dimash!

I'm really enjoying you showing Philip Dimash. He became a dear overnight just like I did. I'm looking forward to Ikanaide one of my favourites. Thanks Paul great to have you back doing Dimash.

Dimash has a Bachelors degree in Modern Music, Broadway, Pop and Jazz. His Master's is in Composition and he is currently studying for his Doctorate in Musicology. He has said he has a responsibility to continue to learn and grow as a way to thank his family for all the gifts he has been given.

That's a 2 stringed Dombra. The Kobyz is the 2 stringed instrument played with a bow. Dimash plays 7-8 instruments, writes, composes, acts, models, & dances too.

The instrument is a Dumbra. Dimash says children in Kazakhstan are taught from toddlers how to play it.

на KZfaq каналe Dimash Kazakh Golden Eagle, есть MV (фанкам) - Dimash imitates kobyz with his voice. 23 декабря был концерт Димаша в Гонконге🥰, были исполнены авторские новые песни💥💥💥, есть фанкамы с плохим звуком, официальных версий пока нет😒. Спасибо, до новых встреч🤗7

At the beginning of the song Dimash plays the dombra (not kobyz). The kobyz can be seen during the performance of the song 'Qairan Elim' - Olzhas plays it.

Kazakh, like Kyrgyz, Azerbaijani, Uzbek, Tatar, is spoken in Turkish. as a legacy of the Ottoman Empire, they all also speak Russian, as a legacy of the USSR. This has nothing to do with China and the Chinese language. Thank you for your reaction to Dimash.

Hello, Teacher Paul. I would just like to let you know that CCTV China is terribly strict about copyright issues striking down reaction videos, so please try to avoid using any of their videos. Have a great day!

I just discovered your channel recently and have been enjoying when you share Dimash with Phillip. I recently discovered your “Discovering Dimash” playlist and have been following in sequence your adventure into Dimash Land. One video I haven’t seen-probably just missed it- is El Amor En Ti from the Almaty Concert. It’s one of my favorites, and I would very much appreciate it if you would share it with Phillip soon. It is certainly epic, and I do believe that it was composed by Dimash. 💕🥰 So enjoying your channel. Thank you!

The way you informed Phillip about the differences between Kazakh and Russian (+Chinese) is quite respectable. Indeed, the same letters (Cyrillic) are used for writing as in the Russian language, but the language itself is inherently different. (Slavic vs Turkic, as you said) However, even less people know that there is a nation in Central Europe whose language is completely different from the languages of all European nations, but is somewhat related and even sounds simillar to the Kazakh language. This is the Hungarian people and their language. Although the Hungarian language does not basically originate from the Turkic languages, before the migration and conquest of the country more than 1,100 years ago, the ancestors of today's Hungarians had many adventures in the region where today's Kazakhstan is located. For this reason, even up to these days there are quite a few words in the Hungarian and Kazakh languages that are completely the same in phonetics and meaning as well. For example: apple 🍎 ALMA, axe🪓 BALTA, brave - BÁTOR. Just as a point of interest. 😊 Blessings from Hungary 🇭🇺😍
