Hello instrument is name Kobyz (Kazakh: қобыз, Qobyz) or kyl-kobyz is an ancient Kazakh string instrument. It has two strings made of horsehair. The resonating cavity is usually covered with goat leather. According to legends, the kobyz and its music could banish evil spirits, sicknesses and death and imitate animal voices and bells of cattle herds of Kazakhstan steppe. Here sounds realy like a wolf :) THANK YOU so much for the reaction. I love this song, and Dimash is absolutely amazing!! This song about Kazahstan , " Samaltau" means montain of wind....and a song is about a walks death moan soldier during de 1ª mundial war that miss his home land ( Samal Moutains)and his parents...

This is one of the most impressive songs I've ever heard... Storytelling art at its best! If #dimashkudaibergen is singing in his mother tongue it's more of all. More meaning, more expressions, more spark, more head cinema... Samaltau is pure tragedy, a history lesson about the Kazakh people nearly being wiped out at the beginning of the 20th century... Thank you for your reaction, really appreciated ❤️❤️

Samaltau - relevant at all times when a person leaves his homeland, relatives and goes into the unknown. When he defends his land, he understands what he is fighting for and scary when he does not understand why and why? It was in the past, ongoing now. There are wars, and now they are taking into the unknown! Therefore, this song is understandable to everyone and touches the souls! Take care of human life, you didn’t give it this life! That's what Dimash sings about!

Samal Tau is an old historical folk Kazakh song and tells the story from First World War. The name of the author is not known. Kazakhstan was at that time part of Russian empire. The Russian Tsar issues a decree the draft of Kazakhs aged 19-39 years for the army. Samal Tau is the song of these recruits. The place where they came from was called "Samal Tau" in the North Kazakhstan region. The song contains the words: “We wander tired, very tired for 15 days, almost reached Omsk. Samal Tau, where I was born and raised, was left behind. Elderly parents stayed at home. How are they supposed to live without me? ". The song also has information about the age of the author. He is a little over two mushels old. He was born in the year of the cow, which means in 1888, so he is 28 years old. The instrument's name is Kobyz (Kazakh: қобыз, Qobyz) or kyl-kobyz and is an ancient Kazakh string instrument. It has two strings made of horsehair. The resonating cavity is usually covered with goat leather. According to legends, the kobyz and its music could banish evil spirits, sicknesses and death and imitate animal voices and bells of cattle herds of Kazakhstan steppe. In this song it really sounds like a wolf.

@user-nu7rg9os1r
@user-nu7rg9os1r 4 жыл бұрын

I like your reactions to Dimash, they are so good. You are not only trying to react to his vocal techniques during the song, but also try to comprehend the song fully with its story and emotions. I have never been a fan before, have never thought that I could be so much involved in someone's music, but he captured me totally, now I can't imagine my one day without his music. I am Kazakh, so of course I am proud that he is making so many people learn our history and culture. When he sings in Kazakh, it's definite that he is more confident, his tone changes, his voice seems more powerful, you know. I liked you cover of S.O.S, I think, Screaming would be awesome as well. Aren't we all? Men and women alike---some men who never fell for a man before, and are totally straight, and it stuns them to find themselves following his every motion "just the way the ladies do." Well, he's impossible NOT to love. I always assure those fellows that it's not strange, and they also reassure each other. I don't know if it passes, with time. For me it's been 6 months since I did anything but watch his videos. My children (all grown) are happy to see something take my interest so powerfully.

@@wintersweeter Kudos to the USA Fan Club. Now, I add English subtitles to my collection of Dimash videos. Not saying my translations are perfect, but I'm meticulous about details. What I love about Di is how he delivers the lyrics. So if he's pouring his heart out, the subs should reflect that. In his Kazakh song "Makhabbat ber maghan" titled "Give me love", part of the chorus says "Mahabbat ber maghan, taghdyr". The last world means fate or destiny. "O destiny, give me (or grant me) love" sounds and looks good. But that sentence should end with "destiny" to reflect Di's pleading. So you restructure that to "Give me love, O destiny". Kind of poetic but easily understandable.

Caleb, I saw another video where the translation is more like the lyrics, this one is not close..you were very observant. I love these East-like melismas, as you said, in Sinful Passion Dimash wears and looks beautiful. Just like Daididau, this Salmatau folk song is beautiful too: May Dimash always give us these jewels. It also enchanted me in Dimash's voice. Caleb, I think Salmatau would look great in your voice, because of the notes you released at the end ... think about it ... Great reaction to this song and wonderful vocals from the great DIMASH. HUGS BRAZIL

Marileia, I'm so pleased to see that someone besides myself uses the word "melismas." Sometimes I've felt people looking at me very oddly, and trying to correct me, when I use that word. I think it suits the sound very well.

@@hollyhelmstetter5156 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hbWhgrCVmdnSZnk.html - Holly, I honestly don't know if it's right either, but if I'm wrong and someone who understands music, explain, I'm happy to learn. I read on youtube that black Americans are great at melismas, because they learned from Arabes, the Arab scales, when black arrived in America. I found it interesting ... I've seen in the comments say vocalizes, solfegos ... but thanks for feeling my partner, let's learn on behalf of the music of Dimash .. but I find beautiful when Dimash does the Arabe style. I sent a link to you from Dimash singing Late Autumn in China at a concert and he does this technique before he started singing, it was beautiful ... watch..Hugs BRAZIL

I have always admired artists that are true storytellers... like Jim Croce, Red Sovine or even Ray Stevens 😂 but Dimash is the ultimate storyteller. He makes me feel the ancestry of his nation without understanding a word. Learning the story behind it only deepened that feeling. He truly is the BEST. I love the way that Dimash has inspired you, whether whole songs or just small riffs or phrases. In what ways do you feel that Dimash has influenced you and challenged you as an artist? I'd love to know. Always a pleasure, Caleb. Look forward to your Screaming cover. Hope we get a good look at the making of as well.

It's a song sang and written by a Kazakh soldier forced to be drafted to the Russian Army in 1916 under Tsar Nicholas II during WW1. It's a song longing for freedom and and lamenting leaving his homeland and elderly parents for a war they didn't start. It's such a sad detail emphasizing being not in Horseback as they were raised traditionally and were on a journey on foot walking for days. It's such a memorable folk song. Someone uploaded the translation and backstory in KZfaq. I hope you will watch that as well. 🙂

A quote from another commenter: Samal Tau' means windy mountains it's a place in Kazakhstan. Samal Tau, my native land, the vast sea Which days are expecting me being soldier You come back again and again in my memories Native land, where I was born and grew up I'm not riding, I'm walking Even slower than walking For fifteen days a hike I am approaching towards Omsk I am aged two cycles, year of the cow (28 y.o) Because of fate I need to go far Samal Tau, native land remained behind We are like horses, torn away from their native lands My mother and father, They are old men of advanced years... This song was composed by Misfortunes of the 16th year Samal Tau, my native land, the vast sea Which days are expecting me being soldier History of this song: 1916... Was the 1st world war. Russian emperor issues a decree on conscription of Kazakhs aged 19-39 years. "Samal Tau" is the song of those conscripts. The area where the recruits came from was called "Samal Tau". It is in the North Kazakhstan region. The name of the author is not preserved in the memory of the people. In the song there are such words: "we moving tired, very tired 15 days, almost reached Omsk. Left behind "Tau Samal", where he was born and I grew up. Ahead of unknown soldier's life. Homes remained elderly parents. How will they live without me?" In the song there is also information about the age of the author. He is little more than two mushel. He was born in the year of the cow. That means he was born in 1888 and is 28 years old.

I absolutely am impressed with your take on this one, Caleb. Yes, to be transported in a song no matter the language is so fulfilling. I mentioned in another response that my son's band travels all over America and will be leaving for Ireland in about a week. They were on a television show where they performed and were judged, etc. So as I digress further, they were questioned about musical influences. This was a country music based show, but their responses included everything you can imagine; from ABBA to Wolfmother, Led Zeppelin, Michael Jackson, Garth Brooks and many Christian artists. I realize they aren't quite as exotic as our wonderful Kazakh friend, but they are successful because they don't discount music from anywhere or in any form. Your statement about allowing music from all influences to teach you was spot on! I understand that Dimash is an ambassador for Kazakhstan and no wonder! That young man loves his country and appreciates everything about his culture. He said during an interview once that his fame is so small, but it reflects how brightly his former teachers shine. The goal there is never to be considered "better" than your teachers or influences, but to make them shine brighter through his success. I think that's beautiful and so very respectful. Have a wonderful day!!

Yesss !!! I found it, I knew that someone out there had translated it well ... I left it to you and thanks to the Dear , who did it...Ok, I fixed some things because it was not complete and there is old vocabulary used...I hope, in a better sense to the song that goes back to the First World War ...When the Russian Tsar in 1916 issued a decree that required 400,000 men between 19 and 43 years old from the indigenous peoples of Kazakhstan , Central Asia and Siberia, 240,000 were from Kazakhstan ... (sorry for my english, I already said I am Latin, but I understand a lot of english when I listen to it, I don't write so well, but Kazakh language , I still can't learn anything well ...and sorry if there are mistakes) SONG: Mount Samal, my native land, the vast sea. ¿What days await me being a soldier? I remember again and again My native land, where I was born and raised. I don't ride, I walk Even slower than walking. For fifteen days a hike Approaching the city of Omsk.(Omsk Russian city) I'm 24 years old. (Actually says this: "I was born in the year of the ox or cow, I have the age of 2 cycles", note: In the Chinese horoscope, the ox ( cow) cycle is repeated every 12 years, that is 24 years) On will fate is gone in the far the brink. Mount samal , native land remained behind. We are like a school of horses, torn from their native lands. My mother and father are old, old, have been left alone at home, This song is about the misfortune of 1916. Mount Samal , my native land, the vast sea ¿What days await me being a soldier?
