This has become Dimash's signature song. I have enjoyed your analyses of Dimash thus far, particularly since I'm a clinical psychologist. However, have now known Dimash for over six years and I must disagree with you - in that I have come to see Dimash as a very old soul, who arrived on this earth with a great sense of innate knowing. As such, Dimash can connect to the essence of each song and become that song, not to simply act it. If you observe Dimash before many songs, he puts himself in a trance like and becomes that song and gives it just what it requires, no more and no less. Dimash knows exactly what he's doing. Therefore, while many great vocalists have the ability to reach our hearts, Dimash has the full capacity to reach our SOULS!!! I believe, therein, lies Dimash's true genius!!! No, he didn't write this song- it's a french rock opera from long before he was even born. He seems to embody the lyrics of what he sings. His mother, who is an opera star herself, says that Dimash is sweet and goofy and when he's on stage he becomes a different person. I also thougth the wings related to an angel but it turns out it's the golden eagle of Kazakstan. I personally think Dimash is 'downloading' Love itself and gifting it to any and all. If you want to get a very personal message from Dimash, I'd direct you to his personal project of 3 years, 'The Story of One Sky'. He composed the music himself although he didn't write the lyrics they are very much what he wanted to say to the world. It's a mini-movie with a potent message. It’s a cover of a song written for a 1976 French/Canadian rock opera called Starmania, (Michel Berger and Luc Plamondon) which basically deals with unrequited love and depression. At the end, the woman commits suicide, hence ‘do do l’enfant do’. Dimash is a very spiritual person. He chose this ‘calling card’ song for a reason. Dimash bares his beautiful soul through his voice, and I think it’s an old soul. Thank you for bringing another perspective to Dimash reactions. I recommend Daididau from the Bastau 2017 concert, where he displays the depth of his Kazakh culture that nurtures his artistic expression.

I love that you see him! Not the voice or the crazy range but you see what the Dears see. The Story of One Sky which Dimash wrote both the music and the screenplay for and acts the main role took 3 years of his life to make and he said after the making of the video that it was difficult emotionally to make it. I'd also recommend El Amor En Ti where he shows the complexity of the human soul right in the middle of an epic concert and especially his newer song Omir meaning Life for which he wrote both the music and the lyrics.

Besides being originally written for and performed in a 1970's French-Canadian rock opera, Dimash has said he discovered the song as a boy when it was being performed by Gregory Lemarchal on a French talent show called "Star Academy." The song was particularly close to Gregory's heart as he was fighting cystic fibrosis and had to sing, dance and act with 25 percent of his lung capacity in order to win that season of the show, which he did. Ultimately, Gregory died at the age of 23 while awaiting a lung transplant in the hospital. Everyone in France knows his story, and it apparently touched people elsewhere in Europe and Central Asia as well. Later Dimash's best friend, champion Kazakh figure skater, Denis Ten, was murdered at the age of 25 attempting to keep hoodlums from stealing items off his car. Dimash has sung the song in Denis' honor as well. As if that were not enough, Dimash's closest vocal mentor died of Covid a few years ago, and the grandfather who largely raised him has died recently. All so much for Dimash to endure personally at such a young age and is why, I believe, he always sings "SOS" with such passion.

Dimash indeed asks all these questions. In fact, this was his narrative at the beginning of his Almaty's Stranger tour: "I was blessed with happiness of seeing this world. But what does it mean to be born into this world? Does it mean to illuminate everything around with your beaming light? Or, is it just an interesting event? Does it mean to strive for perfection avoiding the defilement of the soul? Or, to live a quiet life with no fuss? Maybe it means to turn a lifeless desert into a paradise? He speaks his view in speeches as well as sings it in his music, which reflect the conflict between dark and light, and shares the legends of his beloved Kazakh instruments of Dombra and Kobyz. Many dears have over the past 7 years have told how they were in distress in their lives and they found DIMASH and his music has somehow either healed them or made a vast difference in their everyday lives, and they have better life experiences when they listen to his voice and music daily. The Golden Eagle is the national bird of Kazakhstan, & golden wings show up in many of his videos containing birds. He also likes swans. He was so sad here, as he'd sung this song for an Olympic ice skater friend's performance, & that friend had been later senselessly murdered.

Dimash is an extremely intelligent young man who is indeed a deep thinker. Soon to finish his PhD he is an avid reader and likes poetry. His mission is to promote peace, love and respect and he has an incredible project called The Story of One Sky. One thing I can tell you about Dimash is that he have the answer to your questions and so do I, in his music video “ The story of one sky” he begins with an illustration of an NDE and his smile after coming back clearly shows his experience on the other side and he understood exactly why he was here on earth and his path to follow. You are right, Dimash tends to choose songs with poetic lyrics. Another good example of this is Sinful Passion about unrequited love. The line "Bewitched by you, I drink the potion dry" gets me every time.

I don't know a lot of Dimash yet, but I cannot imagine that there's anything that could possibly enrapture me more than this one. It was the first song I ever heard him do (the Slavic Bazaar performance) and it just... idk, it lit up bits of my brain that I didn't know even existed. I could listen to him sing the chorus over and over and over and over and over and over and over again without ever tiring of it.

Dimash continues to be a student of every dimension of music and appeals to all ages groups as well as in about 13 languages in just about all genres. He is a great Actor. You are right; he is interested in the human heart and soul. He can reach them from his own heart and soul. He will immediately get your attention and somehow impel you to keep listening to his message. he didn't compose either of the songs you have heard but he HAS composed music, quite a lot in fact. Dimash doesn’t sing the song, Dimash becomes the song itself! When I first discovered him, I was about to go under depression. I asked God for help and his videos started to pop up on my home page. I wanted to give him a chance and after the first click, he has become my antidepressant! He literally healed my soul, gave my joy of life and hope back! Since then, I haven’t spent a single day without listening to a Dimash song. Going to his concert was in my bucket list and I’m I managed to watch him live last May in Antalya. It was like a dream. If you want to hear a Dimash original that truly expresses his feelings about life, you should watch Requim: The Story of One Sky. It is an extremely powerful and moving message to the world. I suggest the video, rather than the live performance, as it mates the lyrics and visuals perfectly. While there are places where it feels like something may be lost in the translation, you'll walk away with a greater level of respect (and awe) for Dimash once you've seen it. It's long, like a mini movie, but by the time it ends, you'll wish it had kept going and going. It's a masterpiece work of art.

I personally think you need to hear something less tortured next though, but still with wonderful lyrics. I would not recommend The Story of One Sky just yet, no. Dimash puts all of himself into the songs, he lives them, to convey emotions to his audience. It's his way of making music. And this makes him special, different from most artists. I met Dimash with this song. Listening to him I realized that his voice broke down walls inside me. Walls that I had built over years. I wasn't sure I wanted to continue to listen to him, because it wasn't easy to deal with certain things. It was painful. But I felt it was good for me.I continued and I started to find myself. Dimash helped me and is continuing to help me.However, as they have already suggested to you, if you want to get to know Dimash as a human being, understand what worries him most of all, and you want to do it through HIS music, through HIS work, then the more suitable video is THE STORY OF ONE SKY. Dimash is an author, singer, actor in this video systematically. Impossible to remain indifferent. Having been lived with mental disorder and having as a peer been put suicide watch for someone years ago before professionals knew what they were doing… this is someone considering suicide. I don’t understand how he can sing with such passion and emotion without breaking. Dimash doesn’t sing breakup songs.

This song was written in the 1978 for a French rock musical called Starmania. It was composed by Michel Berger with lyrics by Luc Plamedon. It was written for Daniel Belavoine who at the time was known for his 3-octave range. It was resurrected by the young French singer Gregory Lemarchal, who tragically died in 2012, from cystic fibrosis at the age of 22. Dimash was just 13 when he first sang this song in his native Khazakstan. In 2017, performed it in the opening round of a huge singing competition in China, whereby professional singers and bands compete. Dimash was the invited wild card and youngest competitor.
