As I understand things, he is _not_ (yet) a Dr. What I thought was the case follows; if you know otherwise, please let us Dears know the deets! A couple weeks ago a Dear who I took as authoritative explained he had completed his studies but was at some point in the doctorate dissertation and defense process. The Dear didn't divulge what point that he was at. As I understand it that means that he is considered to likely be something of an expert in Musicology, and is considered _ready_ to write a _doctoral dissertation_ when he has time. As such he may not have started or finished it yet, and, even if he has, presumably has _not_ published it yet (or wouldn't we have heard about it?) prior to "defending" it (to demonstrate that he can cogently _teach_ or _progress_ his chosen doctorate field). That all said, perhaps he has somehow contrived to privately complete what I had thought was always a public process, and will be introduced as Dr DQ on his birthday in Istanbul?!?

He learned Qazaq at home as a baby. It was the language spoken in his home. Started learning Russian when he started school. His first piano teacher spoke about it also.
