He can only be seen by his targets, and whispered in their ears to commit suicide. He was blamed for a rash of real suicides and in some communities is treated as a real evil spirit.

Lady D in a way is also a genderbent Dracula. Her three daughters parallel the three vampire women Dracula kept in his castle and the fact that Lady D turns into a dragon, Dracula's namesake, at the end of her encounter really solidifies that connection.

@@fyreborneblu6706 IF given proper direction and not told to just act like himself, Nick Cage can be an amazing actor. Guy has amazing acting chops, but almost every director that hires him hires him for the overacting he does rather than for his full acting range. Honestly, best example I can give for how different he can be when he is given proper direction with his acting is G-Force, he's the VA for the mole in that movie.

I love that each of the lords are based on the 5 big western monsters, Dimitrescu being the Vamoire, Beneviento as the Ghost, Moreau as the Eldritch Horror, and Heisenberg as Frankenstein and his Monster. Such a shame that Uria the leader of the Lycans was given such a small role.

@@shelbyherring92 Because Urias is a pseudo-lord, and Lycans are the fifth of the big five western monsters. Urias is the confirmed leader of the Lycans, but he's not much more then a somewhat stronger base enemy. You can even straight up kill him during the initial Lycan attack. That's why I said it was shame how they handled him. He should of been one of the lords too, he even runs the Lycan village.

Actually it makes sense, Lycans are sadly not as focused as much compared to Vampires, Frankenstein's Monster, Eldritch Horrors and even Zombies. Which sucks since Lycans have existed since as far back as Ancient Greece, and through generations Lycans had different methods of treatment until the Silver Bullet idea came into play.. There was also Wolfsbane or giving them bad sacrificial meat... or straight up "Scold Them Until They Return To Normal".

Oh I would LOVE to hear more about Donna and Morue. To me, Donna’s own home is like Mexico’s Island of the Dolls, including the story of the drowned girl coinciding with the grave of the young Beneviento that you see before entering Donna’s house. And Morue being based off of a kappa is so obvious, but I can also see inspiration from Creature of the Black Lagoon and realife poisonous fishes that can go on land/salamanders. Please do more Gaijin! :D

This was really well done! Also, there is another european inspiration, that I haven't seen many people talk about: our beloved Lady D shares her first name, Alcina, with the italian Fairy Queen, who is described as a beautiful and heartless woman. She is one of the more famous villains in the chilvalry epic "Orlando Furioso" where she seduces the knight Roger and keeps him with her in her court of (all female) faeries.

That's actually kinda nice to see some Youkai inspiration in a game series that was mainly taking inspirations from Greecian and Eurpoean lore. And yes, I'd like to see you cover Mordeau and Angie someday.

I think the most interesting thing about this video is the fact that this yokai was essentially created this recently. A lot of the yokai you talk about have been around for centuries so it's cool on this small insight in Japanese culture

I think the reason for why REV did well in sales was cause you could view lady D in ways that could get you arrested in current year IRL. Mainly cause she's fictional and fictional characters only have artificial feelings.

I would absolutely love another RE:Village yokai video. Seeing all the inspiration origins is so interesting! All your yokai videos are fascinating. Also, Lady D is more 1920's-1930's than Victorian just judging by her clothes. Karolina Żebrowska did a great video breaking it down from a historical fashion perspective.

There’s a lot more varied inspiration for Lady Dimitrescu than I realized. I just saw some surface level pop culture inspiration from Bram Stoker’s Dracula in her three female vampiric cohorts, as well as Castlevania’s Dracula when she turns inside out for her boss fight. Those could just be coincidental similarities from Elizabeth Bathory and the trend of other Resident Evil bosses to turn inside out, but that’s what I saw and I think it makes sense.
