you could've had the opportunity to give a glimpse on the actual history, with nuanced depictions on all the three important men who shaped much of Japan. But instead, you simply decided to tell the audience your own view on it, clearly pointing out your own opinion on Nobunaga, his buddhist enemies, Hideyoshi etc. "Nobunaga wasn't so evil. Hideyoshi WAS evil". There is no good and evil in the subject of history, only morally good and bad decisions. This sounds the same (aka evil people do bad things), but if you want to give a good objective picture on the people, you have to hand out the bare facts and let the viewers decide on what to do with it. Or at least signal your opinion to differentiate it from the facts. At the end of the day, you can do what you want. This is your channel etc. But you didn't build your video up like an essay with historical accuracy as the goal, but a depiction on your own point of view regarding actual events. That's not how historians work. You might now say "I never claimed to be a historian" but you criticised depictions of historical figures- and then depict them in your own light instead of working a little more academic. Now, your video lays open for actual historians to be criticised as well. Surely, you worked out the facts to undermine your opinion, but you still intermingled them into the facts here and there, making it up to the viewer to differentiate your opinions from the actual history. I really enjoy your videos, especially the ones on "life in japan", so please don't take this as an attempt to offend you.

the obsession which has been and not what can be, is an actual problem in many social landscapes, not just the "wacky imperium", ( I mean look at how long societies tried or still try to ape rome and anicent greece )so, that's a good lesson to learn for everyone

I still believe that the most accurate depiction is the Samurai Warriors (Koei) one. In those games, Nobunaga doesn't feel like the "ultimate evil" unlike other adaptations, he is shown to be very smart and respected by all of his retainers. Even when Mitsuhide kills Nobunaga at Honnoji, he still feels nothing more than respect for him and a catalyst to continue ruling the land. Samurai Warriors keeps certain negative traits of Nobunaga's character but it's writting still gets you to like him. With Hideyoshi, his depictions can get a little bit light-hearted but sometimes they do show his dark side, first with all those times in which he tries to cheat on Nene and in SW4, there are moments in which he is show greedy or ruthless. Ieyasu was always portrayed as a "bad guy" in SW since the story always focused on Yukimura's POV due to his struggle in the Osaka Campaign, however, while the games advanced, he was given a more sympathetic portrayal due to his iconical patience and his love for his retainers. As you can see, all the three unifiers had their pros and cons and I don't blame the japanese for trying to paint them in a very flanderizating manner since without those 3, Japan wouldn't be the same. Besides, we westerners also do the same with our own historical figures, a perfect example of that is George Washington, most americans saw him as a total superhero that went and gave freedom to everybody but when you go and read an actual history book about him, you see that he had his defects and did some questionable things as well.

Just tossing my hat into the ring. I'd like to think memetic cultural discussion led to the black over blue deal. When I say CIA so you think of Jason Bourne or Janice who got her cosmetology degree? When I say FBI do you think of Rainbow 6 styled guns blazing raiders or that really dorky kid who glowed up but can rock a payroll gig? When I say NSA do you think of Five Sevens and night vision or some guy who is named Sam but spends his days in Hawaii watching satellites? For the U.K. they have Bond for us we have MKUltra and infiltrating regimes. The dirty work of hidden work is often boring, dull, or uninteresting in a novel sense. But black, shuriken, bombs, and slow motion? That's an idea that budded from Edo memetic cultural requirements to tell a gripping story of shadowy folks with legendary means to change the country.

This reminds me of how people often assume that any ancient era (mideval waring states Roman or even renesance) was a filthy dirty place where no one bathed and everythingwas greys and browns. We do know better but most properties ignore the sheer amount of colors and patterns that would have existed but it of willful ignorance but to limit the information the audience must keep track of.

No, Jin Sakai is nowhere near a what you call a 'Ninja' or 'Shinobi'. 1) Jin Sakai is Samurai and shares all the tendacies of Samurai Lord. 2) During the early 1700 - 1800s Samurai are known as archers, even more so than their Swordsmanship they even developed a special type of archery known as 'Zen Archery'. 3) During the Early 1700 - 1800s is also around The Early Sengoku Period and the development of gunpowder and firearms in Japanese military so Samurai commonly had guns and explosive weapons as well. Also, Ninja/ Shinobi 🥷 were an invention of 1970s Hollywood Western culture to make Asian Culture more mainstream and popular in America and the Western World

Considering Ninja never existed historically, and you keep referring to Jin Sakai as if he was realistic, you must be a hard-core Naruto fan.😂 Try watching the Discovery Channel and if u have your head set on Anime...Rorouni Kenshin is much more realistic.

Many vipers are stubbier than other snakes. Especially ones that live in rugged terrain. They usually don't coil around themselves in a spiral, but rather in a folded (accordion like) manner to aid in their blindingly fast strikes. They tend to be very solitary and are rarely seen due to the harshness of the environments they live in. So this is probably a very real viper that lives in the mountains of Japan and just rarely ventures down to popuated areas.

Something I thought was a nice historical touch is that Historically the Mongols never made it too the mainland due to storms sinking their ships rather then a single protoninja with plot armour. However we see references to storms regarding Jin's clan. For example the default sword skin that is the Sakai family sword is called "The Storm of Clan Sakai" and in the Iki Island DLC we can relive a conversation Jin's father has with him where he describes Clan Sakai as a storm. Its a clever touch to relate the in game destruction of the Mongols to the real history.

Everyone says that Nobunaga is a hostage to the image of a terrible villain, but isn't Ieyasu also a hostage to the image of an old miser and a conservative? Ieyasu tried to trade with England and Holland and tried to study science.

I still suspect that Dunsparce is not just based on the Tsuchinoko but its general shape, color and even small wings remind me of some of the descriptions and depictions of the german Haselwurm. Some depictions state that it has a golden yellow color, others say its head looks like a child's head (and Dunsparce's head look oddly round for a Tsuchinoko), they can be found both in the Alpine region as well as in the North of Germany in Pommerania and Lusatia. And I saw a depiction where this being doesn't just oddly look like a Tsuchinoko but also has too wings on its back.

2014/16 were good movies. Whats really weird though is they followed the same movie dynamic as the first 2 movies: first movie- violent weapons were more visible and used. A bit more adult than expected. 2nd movie, new mutants, more humourous, closer to the csrtoons, less violence and weapons and of course more humans were involved. That was only thing i was bit taken back with. Other than that as a 42 year old tmnt fan, i don't have any complaints bout Michael bay turtles. Just wish the turtles and Bebop/rocksteady fought more destroying stuff/the city.

I've been on a mescaline trip, and believe me, the last thing I wanted was to fight, if anything I just wanted do hug the earth 😂 Granted I did that voluntarily, maybe if I were in a warzone and suddenly I started feeling those effects I'd just become paranoid, but maybe not aggressive, then again... These are soldiers who may not trust each other fully so I could see some aggressive paranoia take place

Ultimate Spiderman on PS2 was by far the best game and it was based on the canonical comicbook where you play as the original 16 year old nerd in an ageless cel-shading that made it look like a playable comic. You also got to play as Spawn with his own story and his own combat and even a different way to traverse the city. And you got to play as hob goblin and fly around too, but I don't think he had his own story. You unlocked at least half a dozen or so costumes, and the game lasts longer than the PS4 spiderman because there's so much stuff to do. The web swinging physics are on point, and you can't just laterally zip around so freely like you can in the PS4 spiderman, it has more grounded physics. I cannot express how amazing that game.
