Just what I needed after a frustrating day in the workshop! The lack of a beautiful Nordic maiden greeting you ashore (my imagination) was no loss to the lovely atmosphere of your filming and journey. It also got me excited about the coming season of sailing on the west of Scotland ... so many similarities. Takk

Your demeanor is very relaxing. I enjoyed your odyssey quite a bit. I am 3/4 done with finishing a 15' lugsail craft started by some friends about 5 years ago. I do believe I will be the one to finally "splash" this hull. Retired these 12 years I am enjoying a quiet life and hopefully soon one with wind, waves and a quiet mood such as your own. Thank you for putting your experiences to video.

Thank you Thomas! I can imagine there is a lot of work to finish a project like that. I guess you collect many good memories as you progress, and lots of adventures are ahead of you when it finally hits the water. Wish you the best of luck!

Very nice vid - if I may offer some advice : when reefing your main you should not put any strain on the reefing cringles (i.e., they should not be used to lash the sail to the boom). This will not only spoil sail shape, but also quickly destroys your sail (as is evident from the hard creases in your main at 12:19), since there is no reinforcement there as at the clew and luff grommets, where the sailmaker usually adds layers of reinforcement patches (though I'm not sure I can see that in your case). In fact, it is not even necessary to tie in the reefing cringles (I never do) - they are for the most part "cosmetic" (though in some situations may help to control flogging).

Hi Jack and thank you very much. What you say about reefing is new to me, but makes perfectly sense. I really appreciate the advice and to learn something new. Thanks again🙌

Hi Rob. I've been visiting your beautiful country, but never had the pleasure to go to the east coast. My older brother was born in Canada and has a Canadien passport. My parents moved back to Norway just before I was born, but I'm raised with the Maple Leaf Flag all over 😄 I'm really happy that you enjoyed the video. Thank you so much!

Thank you, Jorgen. I heard about you from Roger Barnes who sails Avel Dro, an Ilur dinghy with a lug rig and no engine. You will find my 4m Cabochard "Novalis" on my channel "Romantia Christiana" in various parts of Brittany. The sea brings us peace and beauty of spirit. I am also a man of the North, from northern England. I am subscribed to your channel and look forward to new videos. I have never been to Norway, but your country fascinates me, since my childhood. I am very fond of Edvard Grieg's music, especially Peer Gynt.

Hi and thank you so much. I've seen all the videos of Mr. Barnes, and I enjoyed every minute. Hopefully I can take you along to Edvard Griegs's house one day and show you around. It is a beautiful place by the sea in Bergen where I live. I'd love to make a video of a sail to "Trollhaugen". Thanks again my friend!

Hello! Greetings from Finland is very much appreciated😊 The engine is a 2,5 hp four stroke Suzuki. Half throtle gives me almost 5 knots. Full throtle around 5,2. Perfect size in my opinion. Thank you✌️
