You're not alone!!! It took my baby about 6 months to not wail while in a car seat... we also got a convertible car seat which made a difference and I think is the reason he came around to the car seat. It allowed him to sit more upright and see out the window - this helped *tremendously*. We had to bust out the infant bucket seat for a travel trip around 7 months and he didn't hate it AT ALL when we used it again! He's nearly one now and 95% of the time, he's great in the car!!! Occasionally he still fusses getting in the car seat, but at almost a year - he's finally been catching on to the sleep in the car thing!!

Watching you talk to Annie while you loaded her into the car reminded me of my first outing with my miracle baby girl! I felt so empowered afterwards!

Finally, I've caught up with all the vlogs. I've been in hospital having a major operation I had a liver transplant. I'm doing really well now and its great to be home. Watching how far you've come along is great and I'm so proud that you went out with Annie ❤ Keep taking small steps and you'll be a pro in no time. It made me smile when you were talking about getting your eyebrows and nails etc done, as that's how I've been since getting better I'm noticing all the things that were neglected during my hospital stay and now I'm like oh my goodness this needs doing that needs doing 😂 Sending love and kisses to you all ❤

I am so proud of you doing all the things! The self-care and sort of continuing your own life after baby is something my husband and I talk about so much. I think you're spot on, you truly can not pour from an empty cup and taking the time for you (even if it feels selfish or whatnot) will ultimately benefit Annie and your whole family. How you feel in your physical body affects mental health too, and if youre feeling better you can be the best mom and partner more easily. And there's nothing the matter with appreciating what your body is capable of while also wanting things a certain way (like having your brows and nails done - yay!). You're doing amazing!

So proud of you! You’re literally retraining your brain in front of our eyes..it’s going to get so much better. I wish I could vocalize my anxiety and talk outloud to myself the way you do while confronting my anxiety, the silence makes it worse..I need that coping skill, I feel like it would help me so much.. Thank you for sharing your journey, you encourage me so much! You don’t sound stupid at all.. it’s bravery! Just keep swimming ❤

Hip Hip Hooray! Your attitude and bravery were spot on…do it and if it doesn’t work, just go home. There probably will be days when she’s just cranky and not feeling it, okay, outing might get cut short…no biggie! She and you both look so happy when you have her front facing, love it! Also, your eyebrows look so good!!!! Keep it up, sweet, sweet family!!

In canada, the recommendation is to wait till 9-12 to drink cows' milk (replacing it from breastmilk or formula). Cows milk is lower in iron which babies need lots of. If they just drank cows milk they would be iron deficient. They also recommend iron rich foods when they start eating solids so get enough in their diet. The advice is always changing so don't feel like your always doing something wrong. We are all just trying to do our best. Give yourself grace ❤.

I totally get this. I gained zero weight during pregnancy. And now that Luke is almost 6 months I’ve put on like 30lb. I’m not working anymore, but I feel like I have no time for myself. Ditto on the eyebrows. I did chop all my hair off though. That felt nice.

Mac you’re doing an incredible job!! It took me so many trips out with my baby girl by myself to get used to it! We go on outings all the time now, sometimes it’s great and sometimes not. We’re all doing our best and I’m so proud of you for pushing yourself out of your comfort zone 💕

I’m so proud of you! The first solo outing is so scary.. I’m a first time mom of a beautiful 14month old daughter and I still have to work myself up to go into a new social situation! I’m so grateful to hear your vulnerability and know that every seemingly small victory is huge! You are amazing 🥰 I just went out for my first play cafe date with 2 other mom’s/littles and it felt so humongous of a task to prep for this outing, I had put it off several times.. we had a blast and I’m soo grateful for this step out of my comfort zone!

You did it! Yay- so proud of you!! There is a reason the saying goes - fear of the unknown! It is normal and also reasonable to have this anxiousness when you have the most precious cargo onboard - Miss Annie! You will continue to take these big steps forward and go about it at your own pace and Annie will do the same throughout her babyhood until she can tell you what she wants!! Big step, mommie! And Happy 1st Mother’s Day! Big hugs while you celebrate your first of many! 😍🥰👍

I feel so seen! I’m 6 months post partum and can totally relate to “not liking” or starting to care about what was looking back at me in the mirror. Up until now I too was comforted by what my body did for me and being so grateful but I definitely want to start working on me. Also I braved a few solo trips, baby girl is NOT a fan of the car seat which makes for very stressful car rides but will keep pushing!

Aww Mac believe me you are doing amazing as a first time Mom, all your feelings are valid I remember with my first baby i struggled for the first few months but honestly it does pass. Well done you for having a go at going out by yourself in the car be proud of yourself!! ❤it’s true that some babies do not like being sat still in their car seats keeping calm is definitely key. Favourite toys can help, singing, putting music on that she likes can help the journey and keeping her busy. Don’t forget Annie won’t be this little and she will be a toddler and usually they quite like being in the car and you can give her age appropriate activities to do during the journey. Little Annie is adorable 🥰. I’m so proud of you Mac!! Lots of love xxx

I remember when I had a newborn. I was so scared to go out alone so I did all drive-thru's. We would go to the bank, then Swiss Farm and then Dunkin. I did this for like 3 weeks. 😂😂😂😂

I totally understand and relate with the feeling of being ugly. I am 8 months postpartum, and I feel ugly. I hate how I look and how I feel. I wear the same things over and over. I do zero self care. Hopefully, the warmer weather brings me out of this pit.

What helps my baby in the car is playing one song that she likes on repeat (now she yells when it goes to commercials 😂). I used to play that song for her at home.

I am in same place with self care! I just got highlights and now feel a little more like my old self :). I don’t feel guilty stepping away for this but I just have trouble finding the energy. I was the person who last video said I was in denial about my baby being colicky. Annie sounds just like my baby Benny! Outings are hit or miss but the average is trending better 😉. Benny also hates containers!!! These babies are wild. I have been in drive thrus and stores with Benny screaming his head off. Ur not alone! No shame lol

No cows milk as a drink until 12 months as it can fill their little tums so they won’t want as much breast milk/formula which is their primary source of nutrition xx

So I’m an infant teacher and I have two of my own kids just to clarify. It is just the liquid form of cows milk she could have any other kind of dairy. She should only be having water during meals! Also stay away from peanuts, popcorn, and honey until a year old!

Yes! And just to clarify further, that’s WHOLE peanuts and other nuts. Nut butters are okay mixed into oatmeal and yogurt! :)

Vanilla bean paste is $16?! I can get it for £4 - £5, although that's the online pricing. It's probably half that in store 🤯

So the cows milk thing is because of you give her that instead of formula or breast milk she will be lacking nutrition so they tell you to wait too she is a year plus

Late to the party on this one, but you did SO well!! So proud of you! It also actually brought tears to my eyes when you were putting her in the seat and talking to her about going to Target one day. I had my first baby in the early days of the pandemic and didn’t bring my daughter out in public until she was nearly a year old and it utterly terrified me. The logistics were one thing (she was also very fussy about being contained for long periods of time) but the pandemic in public fears on top of it were just next level. But one day I decided to just go for it and I talked myself through it much like you did in this vlog and it brought me right back to that day. 🥹 We actually did go to target for our first trip and I forgot half of the things I needed and she spit up all over the cart 3 minutes in, but I did it! It didn’t feel great even for a few days after, but now I’ve got 2 kiddos and look back on that time SO proud that I took that step and did it scared. Way to GO girls!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Here’s to many more adventures in the future ❤

Side note: it’s also a completely normal biological response to feel that stress when your baby is crying or fussing. I learned this and it blew my mind that mother’s brains are wired to respond with a sense of urgency when they hear their child crying. We literally get sent into fight or flight 🙃 It’s just nature’s way of making sure we take care of our littles and it’s wild to me!
