This was an exceptional class! It’s so lovely that you include all this history, that’s not something you come across everyday💙 In the Middle Ages, people would at times eat the trenchers too once they’d been softened by the food in it. Please keep the videos coming. You have such a unique approach what would be so dry otherwise!

Dear Megz, Thank you!! Thank you for watching and leaving such a lovely comment!! I put a lot into this video-I hope it can save somebody time and money going to an etiquette course for a week. I love the backstory; the “why” rules are what they are-thank you for appreciating my stories!! Yes, those trenchers!! Sometime you had to share one! I’d be very grateful if you’d kindly subscribe; we have lots of videos posted and I’d love to hear what else you like! Best wishes for a wonderful day! Warm regards, Heidi

Hello!! Oh, thank you so much for watching this video! I put a lot of effort into this. Basically you can save yourself a ton of money from going to an Etiquette Dining school, and just watch this video. I very much appreciate you liking it and realizing the value of the information. I have many videos posted that offer more of an in-depth look into things, we’ve posted about afternoon tea, and many other things. What are your interests? I can point you to some of the videos we posted, and if we don’t have one on an area that you have interest, we will make one! You’re very kind, and I appreciate your generosity and time and leaving such lovely comments! Sending you my deepest best wishes for a lovely day! Heidi 💕

Dear Meghana, Thank you! Thank you very much for your terrific comment! I Put a lot into this video, it’s long, but it’s also very comprehensive! These are the highlights if you spent several weeks at an etiquette school, regarding western dining! Thank you very, very much for watching-you made my day with your kind comment, and spending the time to watch this video! I’ve always thought it was more of a mini-master class in dining etiquette. I hope all is well with you, and sending very best wishes from me in United States, to you in India!! Warmest regards, Heidi💕💕🇮🇳🇺🇸💕

@@HeidiDulebohn1 Hope you are planning for a part 2 of this video. Also one thing that confuses me is that as you said- they take away the spoons and forks with every course. But I have heard of 15 course meals. How do the staff of fine dining places design the table for a long menu like that? And at what point do they replace the spoons and forks? Also, what do these long meal courses consist of? Another question- are there any popular fine dining restaurants, that you have heard of across Europe/America, that serve multiple course meals designed for vegetarians (I am one)? Thanks again 😊

@@MegRRR the meals are served one course at a time, not like an Indian thali where everything is laid out on a big platter. The plates are laid out with all the flatware and glasses at the start of the meal and then the used plates and flatware are removed at the end of each course. The plates would be replaced with the appropriate ones at each course. So at one point in time there’s usually just two plates per person, a small bread plate above and the plate you’re eating from.

Thank you so much, Petra! Yes that’s my l master class for dining etiquette, it’s the history that fascinates me there is a reason for every single thing! We could do a video on each thing that is on the table. I’m sorry and I feel bad for lefties, generally speaking they need to adopt the fork in the left hand knife in right. It doesn’t seem fair, but if you’re dining casually at home or with friends do what’s comfortable for you! You are so kind to take the time to watch the video and leave such a nice comment! Thank you so much!

Het toasten gebeurt door het glas te heffen en niet te klinken.Zoals bij een handkus de lippen niet de hand behoren te raken…

Hello! Yes, you were absolutely right and very formal situations. You do not click the glasses. However, there are some informal times when people do glasses, or perhaps it a wedding, and they do it more for fun or tradition. But yes, I agree with you and very formal situations. You never click the glasses. The history is interesting, though with the toasts and banging old tankers together in medieval times,. Thank you so much for watching. Thank you for the great comment!💕💕🥂

Het waterglas hoort het meest links van de overige glazen te staan!
@HeidiDulebohn1
@HeidiDulebohn1 5 ай бұрын
Hello! Yes, thank you that sounds very reasonable. However, it is up for some debate, depending on where you are some people like the water glass all the way to the right. But the most important thing is that the water glass is separated just enough from the other glasses, so that you know which one is the water glass, it’s not as obvious depending on the glassware style, etc. Thank you so much for watching another terrific comment!💕💕🍷

Enjoy your educational videos but have a problem: I can’t use both hands to eat due to polio. I must do everything with my left hand. I can follow most general etiquette rules, except for manipulating silverware correctly using both hands. Does this mean I shouldn’t ever dine out? Is there anything I can do to make my inability to follow all conventional etiquette practices acceptable?
@HeidiDulebohn1
@HeidiDulebohn1 Жыл бұрын
Dear John, Thank you for watching and asking such a valuable question. First of all, there is no judgment in etiquette, so to answer your question--yes, please! Dine out all you would like. You know the "rules" of dining etiquette and please apply them as you are able; but, please know that being a kind and caring person is the core of etiquette and is much more important than how you use your utensils. When dining with others, your respectful attitude will shine and you can dine according to your abilities. I made a video about respect and disabilities, it's a subject near and near to me, please watch it when you have a moment, and share your thoughts--I'd love to hear them. Warmest wishes to you John, you've touched my heart. Thank you and I'd be grateful if you'd kindly subscribe and please keep tuning in, we have lots of great, new content! Warmest regards, Heidi💕 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aMWcqpiTlZ-tg6s.html

With dessert, how would you eat a slice of cake, served with cream or icecream?
@HeidiDulebohn1
@HeidiDulebohn1 Жыл бұрын
Hello Annabelle! Thanks so much for watching, You would eat cake and ice cream, the same way with the fork and spoon as in the video. Sometimes, so, you’re only given a fork, and usually if the ice cream is solid enough, the fork will work just fine. However, at the highest levels, believe it or not there exists such a thing as an ice cream, fork, lol who knew?! Thank you again for watching and asking. Great questions! I hope you have a wonderful weekend! Warmest regards, Heidi. 🍰🍨
@annabelgrace1267
@annabelgrace1267 Жыл бұрын
@@HeidiDulebohn1 Oh wow, thank you. So the ice cream fork is used to eat the cake and ice cream together as well? Will there be a spoon as well and will we use that, the same way, in the video above? It is extremely unlikely that I will be dining with the king, but I would like to learn, because you never know. I also watched your video on entertaining a dinner guest, with restrictions and love your inclusivity. If your friend were my guest, I would have prepared her a mushroom ragu, sauce made from scratch, that looks like a Bolognese. I would have prepared a vegetarian dinner for everyone, unless some guests are carnivores and (Who knew) for some, they turn to the carnivore diet, because they have an autoimmune disorder. Then, there would be separate meals, but everyone is going to have something special. I am not the best chef, just a reasonable home cook, but I do certain dishes very well and like expanding on my repertoire. I truly enjoy your videos Thank you so much. Have a lovely weekend, too. Annabel
