I've been working in the food and beverage industry since i was 16. I am now 34. I'm not sure how this movie has flown under my radar but I want to say thank you for the recommendation and that I will be watching this movie tonight if I can. Again thank you also excellent video essay

There’s a part in the movie that struck me like a bag of bricks. It’s when Felicity asks Slovik if he’s going to kill her, and in response, Slovik asks Felicity what school she attended and after she responds, he asks if she has any student loans. After Felicity replies in the affirmative, Slovik says, “You’re dying.” While, I wouldn’t say my family and I are rich, we have enough to which I would likely not need to pay much/go into serious debt for a higher education. So, when Slovik said that, it was like he spoke directly to me, and I felt as if I was one of the takers who were incinerated at the end of the movie.

Great movie, great review. I like you mentioned about the class and label it at the core of this movie. We are all from nature. From nature there is giver and there is taker, but for the ecosystem to sustain, a giver at some point is a taker and a taker is also a giver. However for man, despite being a giver or taker, all despise the giver and all want to be and worship the taker. I think Erin can get out is because she proofed herself by ordering the working class food, that she gives and takes, but she wants to stay at the working class. i.e. she do not have the desire to be a pure taker. Being a giver and a taker at the same time and have the sentimentality to stay there makes her synonymous to the nature surrounding the restaurant. When too many people became taker and they exhaust the working class both their body and also their soul, the society collapses just like the restaurant burnt down at the end. Only the nature surrounding the restaurant remains and Erin represents the society that could have survived if no one wants to be a taker. It is interestingly echoed in the game theory that the best operating system is with all its members think about the well-being’s of others, whereas the worst system is when every individuals only thinking about themselves (check John Nash, Nobel prize winning theory)
