The Hillbilly Kitchen - Down Home Country Cooking

Dinner Rolls. These are soft fluffy rolls that will compliment any meal from soup to a formal holiday dinner and they will earn the cook plenty of compliments. They are not fast, but they aren’t difficult either. With a little time and patience, anyone can make perfect rolls.
This is an extremely versatile dough. It can be made ahead of time and refrigerated or frozen. The sugar can be adjusted radically to fit the meal they are being served with and to suit the tastes of the crowd you are feeding. There are endless possibilities for add-ins, such as garlic, Italian spices or cheese.
This dough makes great cinnamon rolls, buns, and bread bowls for soup. It even makes a good loaf of bread. These rolls are perfect for Thanksgiving, Christmas, or Easter Dinner. They make a Sunday Dinner really special and when you pair them with a pot of homemade soup, they are unforgettable. If you need a dish to take to a potluck or church dinner these will get plenty of attention and you aren’t likely to bring a crumb home.

Ingredients:
3 to 3 ½ cups All-Purpose Flour
1 teaspoon Salt
2 ¼ teaspoons Yeast (one packet)
2 tablespoons to ½ cup Sugar
4 tablespoon Butter
1 cup Milk
2 Eggs

I pray that my leukemia of 18 years would be healed and I took the chemotherapy and almost died but God had plans for me. I am thankful for being cancer free

I am Australian and have only just discovered you. I love listening to your cooking shows because you talk about the things that matter. First is the delicious food you teach us to make and then you feed us with the food for the soul which, during this time of the media promoting doom, gloom and heaps of fear, is so important for members of the public to take up the gauntlet to lift people up with messages of hope, love, happiness and comfort which can be found everywhere around us even during these trying times. Thank you for doing that. It encourages others to do the same. We all have the power to lift ourselves out of these imposed conditions and to help do the same for our brothers and sisters.

I found you finally! I’m a recently retired chef after 45 years in the heat. I never baked in my life until my passion for cooking returned and I wanted to learn to bake. Prayer is the answer . We have so much to be thankful for this year. My hubby had a cancer in his small intestine. We have done so much praying. Both ask for His will to be done. We are now thanking Him for a complete success in the removable of this tumor completely. My prayers are answered. God is good. All the time God is good! Love your channel.

My first few attempts to make dinner rolls and loaf bread have begun in my elder years. I am 79 years old. After trying a few recipes, I’ve found that your dinner roll recipe has become the best and easiest for me! You are not a dummy. At 79 I am sure you have accomplished many great things - so compliment yourself for those things. I am 77-1/2 & starting Jan. 2022 I pressured canned chicken, turkey, beef, pork, pumpkin, white & sweet potatoes even Okra from our garden. Yes, also worked in the garden. Get worn out but have to keep going. Yes, KZfaq has so many great channels with mouth-watering recipes. I write down those that I want to do in a notebook. Told my Granddaughter I would make copies of them for her. Stay safe, God bless you. Judi

I lost my dear Momma 3 weeks ago at age 89. Even in the midst of all the grief my greatest blessing this Thanksgiving is that I had her for all of my 65 years.

That really hit me. May God comfort you in your loss. I just lost my mom in June, 3 weeks short of her 90th. And I just turned 65 this month. My hope is that she came to know the Lord before her death.

I lost my mother at age 87 in Feb just as the pandemic started.I was 61 when she passed.Due to the pandemic there was no funeral or service.In this area they started early with restrictions.My condolances to all who lost your mothers at any age.

These look SO good, I could almost smell them! Yum! I am 65 and they remind me of the dinner rolls we used to get on spaghetti day at school. Everyone would get so excited when we saw those dinner rolls on our tray!! Wonder if anyone else remembers that? If I bake these up and store in the freezer, how do I prepare them to serve?? Yes Im 40 but remember those spaghetti lunches. I grew up in a small town in Southern Arkansas and and we had the best school cooks. Also on chili day they always served yummy homemade cinnamon rolls!

I Came over to the states in 2013 to go to the SOUTH West believers conference in Fort Worth . In March 2020 I was diagnosed with bowel cancer, and given 2 - 3 years to live. This was 1 week before lockdown. I refused to get upset, it doesn't solve anything for me, I just waited for the call to have my operation. This happened in July 2020, and I was told I would have the results to see if I needed further treatment in a week. I got out of hospital after 15 days, and waited for the call. On September, 2 months after my operation, I got the call. I was totally cancer fre3e, and needed no more treatment. I know that God was with me, and would look after me. I feel so blessed to have dodged that bullet. Lily

I love what you said about the news and fear. I hardly ever watch the news and when I do it primarily for the weather and that seems to be fake as well. I for one am so thankful the Lord has been so good to me and my family. We aren't rich or famous but we have what we need plus. And we are able to help each other if or when another is in need. God is so good.

When my dough is ready to rise, I turn my oven light on and put it in my oven. The oven is off - just the light is on - which is enough warmth to keep the yeast happy & growing.

After trying a couple of bread recipes that required 5 to 10 cups of flour with lackadaisical results. Hubby even said as long as the grocery store has bread, we will continue to buy bread. I did not give up and tried your recipe for the dinner rolls that makes a dozen. My husband commented by telling me how great the outcome was for our dinner. You are such a blessing, and one of God’s blessing to everyone. Your story about His people trusting His will when they were out in the wilderness for 40 days and nights. I have quite unsuccessfully attempted twice to make rolls with the recipe from the Fleishmanns yeast website and what a disaster. I swore off bread baking after the second debacle, but now I've regained my faith and will try this recipe tomorrow. 😊

One of my Dear wife's most frequent memories, is of her late mother's homemade Yeast and, Cinnamon Rolls. I was able to indulge in them a couple of times before her passing and, they were really good. I want to thank you for sharing this video with us Becky. I made these rolls today to go with Thanksgiving dinner. This was my first time making dinner rolls from scratch, and they came out amazing. So soft and fluffy. I've made three recipes from your channel so far....these rolls, pumpkin muffins, and the pumpkin roll. All have been great. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

I will have to make that honey butter 💛I use to eat bread milk and honey at my grandma's house and my other grandma use the make homemade blackberry pies after I picked them off the hill .... 2 and a half years ago my oldest son cut all contact with me and stopped me from seeing my only granddaughter. Two weeks ago he called me and said I could start seeing her again!! GOD IS SO GOOD!!!!!
