Dion was raised in an Italian Catholic home in the Bronx, New York. Gaining fame through his rock group, Dion and the Belmonts, he fell away from the Church to the allure of the world. In 1968, he turned his heart over to Christ and was active for many years as a Presbyterian. A chance viewing of the Journey Home Program on EWTN began his journey back to the Catholic Church.

this interview looks like it occurred a few yrs ago ..... Dion looks very very heappy, joyfull. In his more recent postings on facebook, he still exhibits this joyfullness - this is inner peace & happiness brought only through an intimate loving relationship with G*D

what he says about the spirituality some of the contemporary music; truly G*D has sent messages through the music, in a form more palatable to some listeners; for some of is, we "get" the message and give the glory (credit) to G*D

I have a very similar story. Except I was from a macho Italian neighborhood in Jersey and never became a Rock Star. In fact when I sang Dion songs people would ask me to sing in a different key. Like Key West or Key Largo LOl.

Yeah sorry, the first Pope was Peter Magus, Simon Peter never ever ever went to Rome. He died and was buried in Jerusalem, the RCC has kept it hidden for years.. It wouldn't be much better if it was Simon Peter, he denied Jesus three times. He was a patent coward, not like the man who actually succeeded Christ on Earth, Saul of Tarsus.

I too grew up Catholic, and was then Born Again. Then during Bible study alone at home (not in any church) I first realized just how wrong the RCC is. I've since been a Bible believing Christian for thirty years now, studying the Bible and the RCC and I am more convinced than ever that the RCC is wrong. Our authority is in Christ, through the Holy Spirit and the Word, not any pope.

Mike Bennett You are correct, I truly hope Dion believes what he sings in his gospel albums. That Jesus alone is the way, the truth and the life, not a "church". Dion, you better check what you read in the Bible against the doctrines of the Roman Church.

Before you converted, as a Catholic, did you read the Catechism? Did you pray to God for the gift of the true faith? Did you worthily receive the Eucharist regularly? Did you regularly examine your conscience? Did you go to confession regularly? Did you offer yourself up to God during mass? Did you listen to the readings and gospel during mass? Did you do penance and mortification? Did you avoid the sin of passive scandal? Did you read the works of the saints? Did you listen to the Catholic apologists' answers to anti-Catholic objections? Or did you, as a Catholic, not do all of those things, and simply told yourself that what the RCC teaches is wrong? If so, then it's your fault why you don't see how the RCC is the true Church. Take note, it only takes one mortal sin or habitual venial sin to make yourself vulnerable to the devil's falsehoods. So, if you didn't do any of the above, you've opened the door to evil.

Two thoughts: Exactly where in the Bible is Peter shown to be acting (or speaking) as if he has taken on the role of God's Number One Man on Earth? - and - When Jesus said "and upon THIS rock I will build my Church" He was referring to HIMSELF!!!

especially Chritianity (Christ followers) has never been Roman. Christ was a Jew and his native home was Israel (meaning the lands given to the 12 Tribes as delineated in the Bible)

1) You have a piss-poor understanding of the layered meaning highly prevalent in both Aramaic and basic Metaphysics. "This Rock" means Our Lord, St Peter, the Church and the faith combined. 2) Why was Simon's name changed to "Rock"?.....I simply don't understand how you Protestant dolts can't fathom such a simple concept as the implications derived from a name change.

MrSinclair1956 Nowhere in the scripture does it indicate that Peter had some sort of high office over the rest of them. Dion, there is no salvation in the church of Rome, it's only in Jesus! What are you doing there?

Dion said at least 1 thing that's false. Now I realize they are promoting the RCC and that's not a bad thing. But when he was talking about the authority of the RCC he said it hasn't changed in 2000 yrs whereas new Evangelical churches pop up every year and there are no authorities. They all interpret the Bible differently. Unfortunately he's right about that but he's wrong about the RCC not changing. I would tell him to read the Catholic Catechism but its so long it makes the Bible look short. Worse still the Catechism constantly changes. The truth is we both have a serious problem. Only God can solve it. Until He does I say love your fellow man as yourself. This is what Jesus commanded us to do.

Peter, "the Rock" was opposed by Paul for being a hypocrite... Galatians 2:11 "When Cephas came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he stood condemned." This is hardly the actions of the first "infallible one". And if you study church history, you will clearly learn that there is no unbroken chain of popes from Peter to the present. Show me the office of Priest in the New Testament. Show me ANYTHING that resembles the RCC method of confession and forgiveness of sins! Show me ANYWHERE in the NT where Mary is held up in worship and/or adoration...it does not happen! But Jesus calls her "woman", hardly a worshipful term. Show me ANY NT support for the immaculate conception. If she is without sin, then she is not derived from Adam or David, and we, being of the Earthly lineage are still in our sins. Then there is "the Rosary"...an evil so dark that it sounds like witches chanting incantations, and it completely ignores Jesus' command against repetitious praying (Matthew 6:7 "And in praying use not vain repetitions, as the Gentiles do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.") and the Hail Mary prayer is an insult to Jesus and an embarrassment to Mary, who understood that she was nothing and Jesus is everything! If this is not so, why didn't she turn the water into wine at the wedding at Cana? And why was she turned away by Jesus? (Matthew 12:46-50 "While Jesus was still talking to the crowd, his mother and brothers stood outside, wanting to speak to him. Someone told him, “Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak to you.” He replied to him, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?” Pointing to his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers. For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”) That's a heck of a lot different from Hail Mary! On, and on and on I could go because I have just scratched the surface!! I spent years studying both sides, and I do not see how it is possible for any serious student of the Bible to remain RCC.

Sectarian bullshit! What does Jesus told to John? Not all can be in books. We don't worship the Holy Mary, we venerate her and recognize her as the mother of God. You took so literal, literal the word "your brothers"; Maybe u and your sectarian friends call each other "Brothers", not all are necessary sons of your mom…genius. So, if u aren't catholic, what the heck are u doing here? Go and keep studying your edited bible of 66 books. Hahahahahahaha.

I was raised Roman Catholic for nineteen years...mass every Sunday, catechism on Saturdays, then in my teen years it was CYO every Sunday night. After all that time, I knew almost nothing about the Bible. But when I became a Christian (not a Jehovah's Witness or Mormon), I finally read the Bible in its entirety for the first time. I have since read it countless times. I also studied church history for the first time. How do you know that what the RCC tells you is true? Before becoming a Christian, I simply took it for granted...but after a supernatural encounter with the Lord, I was born again (Read John's gospel chapter three). I changed inwardly...supernaturally. The Bereans checked the scriptures to make sure that what the apostle Paul taught them was the truth (Acts 17;11) and they were commended for it. And Paul told Timothy to study the Word in order to avoid error (2 Timothy 2:15). So tell me Moncho, what is the basis for your faith? Do you believe that you are saved from Hell? If so, then please explain why?
