Mark knocker was and always will be a legend, Latest trick was awesome, the sax solo is what inspired me to take up the sax as my guitar skills were limited. Brothers in arms hit me in the heart and mind as I come front a military background and as we go back yet again to The front line against the Taliban it is a fitting tribunal to all our lads out there.

What a fucking masterpiece... Sometimes I can't stop listening to this song, not only because it is great but it also reminds me of the girl I like. She's without any doubt the most beautiful girl I've ever seen in my entire life and no one can imagine how much I want to be with her. That pedal Steel makes all the difference. The Saxophone is great and thankfully doesn't become 'Too Much', all Marks fills are perfect and then Paul Franklin on the Pedal Steel is complete perfection. Not just his solo but the shimmering notes he has in the Pre-chorus and the chorus fit this song like a glove. No instrument, not on the original release, has ever fitted a song better than a Pedal Steel and Your Latest Trick.

Simplesmente uma viagem sonora que atravessa e encanta gerações! Foi um estouro em 85/86 qdo comecei a namorar na 7a.serie ( tínhamos 15 anos ) ...cada um seguiu seu caminho e depois de 35 anos ( eu , viúva) ele ( divorciado) nos reencontramos !!! Hoje com 50 anos ( os dois ) e estamos cada dia mais juntos e celebrando ao Som desta canção q sempre nos acompanhou!!!! Salve o Som de qualidade!!!

Can we also just acknowledge the contribution here by the great Paul Franklin, widely acknowledged (and rightfully so) as one of the finest pedal steel players in the world. Knopfler was a huge admirer of his playing and invited him into the lineup for this tour & showcased his amazing talents throughout the “On The Night” live sets. His playing complemented DS’s repertoire beautifully. Case in point….

I would have loved to be around in the prime time of Dire straits. I'm 18 now, so I've only had a handful of chances to go and watch this musical genius named Mark Knopfler. I see him every time he comes to town, but it honestly pains me to think that he'll be retiring soon. Thank you for all of your accomplishments Mr. Knopfler and please do return to Atlanta, GA. Cheers!

I'm 46 and had the chance to see Dire Straits front row in Cardiff on their last tour in 1992, On Every Street, I feel blessed! Specially because I was one of the only fortunates to see Mark fault off a step on his guitar on Private Investigation just before being recited (after a cool smile from Mark) a fantastic improvised guitar solo to turn 40,000 boos from disapointed fans to an euforic scream of joy! Wow, I just got goosebumps

Ouvir essa música com um bom whisky, num tempo frio, e com a mulher do lado não tem nada melhor. Música maravilhosa, nunca canso de ouvir. Dire Straits é pra mim a melhor entre todas as bandas. Uma pena que hoje não consigamos mais ouvir esse tipo de música, ainda bem que o KZfaq existe.

Brothers in Arms was my first LP back in ‘85…..at that young age I hadn’t even entertained the thought that a sax could be used so effectively in a rock song…until I heard this track….

I grew up listening to Dire Straits. I was born in '91, and I vividly remember especially the weekend mornings when my father used to wake us with his so beloved CDs of the artists of his era, including this amazing band. I recently came across this song again, after so many years of not hearing it, and only been focusing on their very first song 'Sultans of Swing', but I honestly say that I'm pretty sure this was the first song I ever heard of that amazing instrument, the saxophone, which I fell in love with ever since (I don't play it unfortunately). I'm so grateful that I grew up with such amazing music, and being so proud of my parents' music taste! I love it, I love Dire Straits!

faltam me palavras pra descrever o meu estado emocionante neste momento, ouvi essa musica pela primeira vez em 1999 no carro do meu pai, desde entao nunca mais ouvi. nao conhecendo o título fiquei a procurar por anos nunca achava mas finalmente aqui na KZfaq encontrei grande som que cria nastolgia em nossas vidas.

I also heard it for the first time with my dad in te car, he helped me brining aroud the newspapers and we had a Dire Straits cd with us, and I was just mesmerized and amazed by the saxaphone solo, and that was the moment I got into classic rock music

Heard this on the radio over wknd when in supermarket carpark and only just got round to googling a line of the lyrics I noted down because I didn't catch the artist and title at the time, sat in the car listening because the saxophone 🎷 was so beautiful to hear, it sent me on a wonderful drift away for a few moments !!! 🏝 had to look it up, glad I did, still wonderful to hear a few days later whilst working from home 😁 Thanks Dire Straits 👍x
