I think this movie is extremely rhought provoking and that is the whole deal of this movie. There is so much going on in this movie. If you just feel like you want a movie like let's say "The Godfather" that shows you everything as you watch, this movie is not for you. I saw it yesterday and I am still thinking about it. I am thinking about the characters for sure. So I intend to watch it again and pay closer attention to the subtle issues it brings up. Important to note these subtle issues are not actually subtle. They are the "world" right now and that is hard to take. So if you are looking for "entertainment", this movie is not for you. I would give it a "5" just for the reasons I mentioned above.

people who don’t like this movie were obviously hoping to watch something surface level that will tell them the “plot” directly which this film won’t do for you, there’s a lot of messages and symbolism in this film and requires you to critically think a little which most people don’t want to do

I didn't like it as much. It's like the whole film was a slow exposition of the first act. With no real payoff. The movie ends with what would have began another film or at most introduced the second act. At least in more standard writing structure. This style can work. Unbreakable did this really well. This film did not. Just my opinion. There wasn't enough to keep one interested for 2 hours of what normally would be accomplished in 15-30 minutes. It was almost like a trick. I would've been irate if I had paid to see this in a theater.

Are we missing the fact that the guy summed this up for the accomplishment of a good watch in the theatre - who watches Netflix owned movies in a theatre! - you’re missing the point - the movie is straight to the point - family issues - rather than the city - ugh

I liked the movie. I loved Julia Roberts from Nottinghill and Ethan Hawke from Dead poets society. I feel really anxious from time to time and mistrustful or even hateful of others sometimes. However, I think it is true that people only have each other. I used to focus my life around activities and being productive, but I think part of the reason I'm so anxious sometimes is because I should have been focusing on cultivating good relationships with others. I also thought that I'm such a blockhead for not caring at all about the news or climate change or anything other than my needs and feelings. If an apocalypes did happen, I think I would deserve it.😢 I empathize with the kid for watching Friends even in the time of crisis, because I've been doing the same thing- I felt like it was the only escape from the real world sometimes. Real world gets a little repetitive, stressful and boring and I understand her for trying to find her happiness outside the reality.

What was all the slavery references for by these two none Black persons? It would be like these two making a movie and putting Holocaust references throughout the movie. Like the year the Holocaust started, or the name of certain concentration camps, or a name of a particular gas chamber, or a large picture in the livng room of a faded projection of nazi soldiers alongside the Juuwz who were being persecuted. This was all up & through this movie referencing Black American slavery by two none Black individuals. People are always telling us to move on but then you have fruits like the writer here
