A scrap of fence post to a thing of beauty. I've never seen anyone light test their spoons before. Breath stopping moment. As always Jimmy D, you went above and beyond!

This. This video right here Jimmy is what started my love of your work. I found this video, of some guy taking what looked almost like firewood, seeing the beauty inside, and crafting something beautiful and useful. I've since watched every video on your channel at least once, most more than once. By far my favorite youtube channel. I get so much enjoyment out of watching something useful be made from something that isn't. The fact you're a great person too is the icing on the cake. I really hope to meet you one day. Thank you for all of the great content. I've been here years and plan to be here as many more as you will be a maker.

You don't need to thank me man. I just sit on my lazy ass, watch your videos, and wish I was half as talented and knowledgeable as you. Thank you for sharing your talents with us.

Somehow I came across this video one day. This wooden spoon started it all. Now I'm hooked. I constantly binge on your videos. Often, I watch them a second or third time. You do quality work and make quality videos. I subscribe to both Make and your channel. Please keep it up.

I am glad you post the old videos! I have been following the channel for a almost 2 years and there are still videos I haven't seen. Keep up the great work!

This is the very first video I saw of you. I kept watching your videos in awe! I subscribe immediately. After that point, three years on, I went from being a painter, to more than doubling my salty working for a carpentry company, I have invested all my extra money on all kinds of tools, I sell arts and crafts on Etsy, and I'm correctly taking welding classes at the community college.

I teach woodworking at a school, the other day I caught myself saing, not to Diresta on the scroll- and bandsaw, unless you know what you are doing. the kids looked at me like i was speaking russian. I had to show one of your vids on the smartboard to drive home the point. I love your channel, and the stuff you make. I'm thinking of making some of your "easier" projekts this semester. Btw, if not clear at 1:25, that's what i meant by Direstaing on the saw

Kenn Jørgensen I've watched this video many times...one of my favs on KZfaq. Just got a bandsaw and was practicing making cuts and making this spoon. I actually stood there for a few seconds and considered carving like he did. I just stared at that blade with my spoon in my hand and I swear I said out loud "I better not attempt to DiResta anything until I actually know what I'm doing." LOL This was TODAY.

Jimmy, I think this is "heart pine". Here in the south (North Carolina), a species of pine tree called the longleaf pine (Pinus palustris) was the dominant species in the southern pine forest (that is before most were cut down and replaced with either loblolly or shortleaf pine species). This is wonderful wood and the resin in the wood smells amazing, even after 100 years!

Having all those tools sure make it a lot faster to make these things. Made a few spoons (one of them pretty huge for a sauna), but it took like the whole day. Pretty envious right here. :D Anyway, looking real good in the end there!
