Metta World Peace is his name. Formerly known as Ron Artest, who was the first player to run into the stands during Malice at the Palace. He was the one laying on the table when a fan threw the beer at him.

I don't know how someone could make a dirtiest NBA plays list without including Kermit Washington's punch on Rudy Tomjanovich, which pretty much ended his promising career. Tomjanovich would eventually win two NBA championships as a coach, so he did get his revenge in that way. Washington saw Tomjanovich running toward the altercation. Not knowing that he intended to break up the fight, Washington hit Tomjanovich with a short right-hand punch. The blow, which took Tomjanovich by surprise, fractured his face about one-third of an inch (8 mm) away from his skull and left Tomjanovich unconscious in a pool of blood in the middle of the arena. Abdul-Jabbar likened the sound of the punch to a melon being dropped onto concrete. Players involved say that right after Tomjanovich collapsed the absence of sound at the arena, which was filled with shocked fans, was "the loudest silence you have ever heard."[66] Reporters heard the sound of the punch all the way in the second floor press box, and some rushed to the playing floor in disbelief. Besides having the bone structure of his face detached from his skull and suffering a cerebral concussion and broken jaw and nose, he was leaking blood and spinal fluid into his skull capsule. His skull was fractured in such a way that Tomjanovich could taste the spinal fluid leaking into his mouth. He later recalled that at the time of the incident, he believed the scoreboard had fallen on him. The doctor who worked on Tomjanovich said "I have seen many people with far less serious injuries not make it," and likened the surgery to Scotch-taping together a badly shattered eggshell.

The size mismatch between some players, plus the lack of protective gear, means that the NBA had to crack down much harder on fighting than the other sports leagues.

Suspensions "usually" depends on prior records. If they have a clean record the suspension will be low if any at all. But if there is a repeat offender it could lead to lengthy suspensions and fines. Edit I should say suspensions usually depend on prior record AND how bad of a foul was committed. Both circumstances are considered with the league officers.

Yeah no kidding. I mean Karl Malone on his own could have a video with worse than this, especially since he had several instances where he elbowed guys in the head. I know the one he did to Isiah Thomas was pretty bad, then he also has a pretty bad one on David Robinson. The person that uploaded that video really needs to do some research if they're claiming that these are the worst in history.

25:00 Oguchi Onyewu was a young up and coming defender for the USMNT who played incredibly well in the 2009 Confederations Cup, especially during the US' upset of #1 Spain. He signed a fairly big deal with AC Milan. Then tore his ACL. He ended up having one cap with Milan and just wasn't the same level of player. He bounced around smaller clubs in Europe(Twente, Malaga, QPR, Sheffield Wednesday and a few others) and eventually came to MLS for a retirement tour.

Metta World Peace was born Ron Artest and played under that name in the NBA for years (from 1999 to 2011 when he changed his name. He played until 2017.). The reason? “I changed my name because I got tired of Ron Artest, he’s a [expletive],” World Peace said. “And when fans get mad at me, they can’t say, ‘I hate World Peace." One of the dirtiest players in NBA history.

I was looking forward so much to seeing them try out more basketball (even if just a game of horse or sum), having them running routes or sim with football, them trying to pitch, catch, and hit with baseball, and etc. Like I was so excited when they started it and said they were going to do all of these things with the sports man. I really hope one day they decide to actually try and give it a shot and all tbh.

NBA is much different than other US sports when it comes to fighting, especially after Malice at the Palace when players attacked fans. NBA players are MUCH larger than even most NFL players and do a lot more damage than they might really mean to. Fighting is frowned upon in general in basketball, it just doesn't have a place here, unless you're at the park.
