You always have to double check the "non-lego" stuff to make sure you didn't miss lego stuff. I have literally sat for hours trying to figure out if certain parts were fake or not just to verify. Sometimes some pieces are quite valuable.

The green piece you picked up is a bionicle shoulder and there are more technic pieces that are in that bin that are real lego

yeah, i would have washed ALL of it, then sorted out the parts.. and yeah, even if it was non-lego legos, i would have found a use for those parts... only thing i worry about is will they connect up properly.. and worst case scenario, you can eventually give what you don't want to either the kids or to a thrift shop... or sell them... only thing i would have tossed would be stuff that was broken or non-connectable....

that claw piece is LEGO, first wave of bionicle, onua's claws. And yes some bionicle parts are made of softer ptastic and may not look like real lego piece but they are.

The minifigure legs you held up at 8:42 are [Part 970c00pb0262] Jango Fetts. The clear tail you hold at 10:51 is 87614 and only came in two sets in trans clear.

Some of what you don't want are mega blox and knext which aren't cheap .and maybe some poor kid would clean them and enjoy them

Some of the other stuff in that been is K'Nex. Which, while not Lego is also another high quality building toy. Worth keeping IMO.

Hey Jordan for what it’s worth. I had a huge tub of lego from when i was younger my parents kept in a building on the property, the roof ended up leaking, dirt dobbers and mice both got into it. So it had dirt, dead bugs, and mouse droppings in it. Dirty to say the LEAST. I ended up dumping all of it into the tub same as you did to get the worst off of it but then got it out and put it all into a couple cheap pillow cases from Walmart and put it in the washing machine. The machine ran just fine, none of the lego got damaged or fell out and the pieces came out very clean with no smell. Really helped a lot. So just wanted to mention if you ever need to do more like that you may want to consider it as it was much easier and my machine had no trouble with it at all. I think it was actually much lighter/easier than the loads of clothes i usually put in there to wash. And dirt wise i’ve put WAY dirtier things in there from when i’ve been out working in the yard. So just FYI if you ever get more to do might be worth a second thought (just don’t run it through the dryer lol)

I think that weird green armor piece comes from toa matau 8605 and it's sorta exclusive in dark green for this one set. But in used condition doesn't present any value.

old bionicle masks has that weird serial number like X-77 but it also has a "c" in a circle mark. I think older parts of some sort had "c" instead of "lego".

Id clean the rest of the bricks and set up a magnifying glass and some really good lighting and check each brick and part I think you might find some obscure bits and pieces and if you're certain the bricks aren't lego give them to a youth group or school for kids to use.

Your washing machine has a filter just for that, I've used mine for worse. I washed lego that had been in a shed for 30 years just using a delicates bag in the washing machine

I’ve washed many many many loads of Lego in my washing machine. There’s literally zero risk to damaging it. Just use scent free detergent and it works. Wonders on cleaning. Bulk lots.

This and the previous video were really helpful to see how you go about this process (which I have done and will continue to do).

Yes the dumpster is the best place for the non LEGO. I can relate to going back to the bin for the 1 LEGO piece. It is taking you a longer sort to random scanning the pile, I sort once dry in smaller quantities in small bins sitting on the couch watching a movie, you got some great parts, if it doesn’t say LEGO it’s NOT LEGO!

The red mask at 1:32 is Toa Tahu's mask the red Bionicle that came in the tubular container, one of the first Bionicle sets I got my son.

That clear “dorsal fin” came from a dc set, gorilla grodd goes bananas. It also came with that Batman chest piece you showed toward the end. The set itself came with a sick gorilla grodd big-fig.

Why sort out the non lego? I don't get it.. They are compatible.. and they are bricks... my collection has some non lego sets, but they seems the same quality and they interlock ok...

Can you recycle the non-lego? The 2X blocks could be used as filler for MILs plates or mountainscapes, right?

I put bulk like that on a table and put a tub in my lap and just slide the Lego into the tub and put the not Lego in a separate container. Picking at it randomly will never get rid of the junk 100%. Plus you can be comfortable.

The lego print was only compulsory after 2014. Pieces before it maybe stamped but not necessarily… not all genuine lego is stamped

It genuinely makes me sad that pounds upon pounds of scarce bionicle parts are being thrown away by resellers who are unaware that they're even authentic lego. Like, a collector could easily pay ten dollars (CAD) for that red Pakari. This problem will only worsen over time as Bioncle fades ever farther from public awareness and the unusual elements become increasingly alienating to even the more experienced resellers.

Haha, I like the "ew" to the non lego, before I sorted my lego out last year, I didn't care... now all my non lego is in its own container at the bottom of my small stack. I may use it for support fillers in the future if I'm able to do my city idea, that has tall mountain range

I would still clean the not lego pieces and give them to like goodwill or donate them for kids to play with instead of just dumping them in the trash.

OMFG!! How do you NOT know what Bionicle parts are? My son is 26 and started building them when he was 3. I’m four minutes in and I’m screaming at you on my TV at your lack of knowledge of these parts. You’ve lost me. You may be able to build them, but you’re definitely not a true Lego fan.

Just a suggestion here. Instead of throwing non-Lego bricks away, why not donate it to a women's shelter or a toy library, or even a local Thrift store? There are thousands of children out there who would love to play with Lego but their families can't afford it. Be a sport, Bricksie. It costs nothing to make someone's day
