Dirty Marbles game template. An easier way to make a Dirty Marbles game board. The template is a PDF file printed on 8.5 x 11 paper that can be downloaded for free from my website (click on the picture of the game board on the home page): www.spiralsbysteve.com/ As shown in the video, the template uses the radial symmetry of the game board layout. The template is aligned using either marks drawn intersecting the circle, or by using a nail as a pin to align the inside corner holes. The template can be used to make game boards for any number of players from 3 to 8. You can adjust the scale with your printer settings to make the layout whatever size you want. Suggestion - if you are making these as gifts for family members you should sign and date with an engraver or wood-burning iron they will become treasured heirlooms.

One Christmas I got a bag of marbles and my brother got an old piece of plywood with some holes in it made by my father. We have played thousands of games on that old piece of plywood turned into an aggravation board by my father. My kids have played games on it, and my grandson has played many games of aggravation on that old piece of plywood. It turned out to be the best Christmas present ever. Now at 67 years of age my brother and myself still shake the dice and move the marbles around same old piece of plywood. Today I found a old hardwood foot board to a bed and have started to make an aggravation board from it for my daughters family, what great fun they will have playing on it.

Great story! Hand-made gift are always the best. I gave one to my parents for Christmas, and we play it every Sunday. If you make one be sure to sign it and also put the year. Thanks for the comment.

Nice concept. Used to do drill press for cribbage boards. Bought a CNC, now takes 10 minutes instead of hours to do an Aggravation board. Realize not everyone can afford a CNC, yet if you can, highly recommend the upgrade.

Man, this template works great; amazing doing the geometry for you. I made 5 boards for Christmas. No way I could sell them; takes average 4 hours to mill and glue two 10 inch boards together and I also put side trim on them to keep marbles and dice from rolling out of the board. I'd have to have $100 for one...Thank you so much for sharing this great plan. Steve

Thanks! I'm glad it was useful for you. I realized that they become family heirlooms, so be sure to sign and date it for future generations to appreciate. Good idea to keep marbles from getting away, I dropped one and it rolled under a full china cabinet and it's still there haha! Have fun with it.

Awesome. What type of bit did you use to finish the holes and what size was it?

The pilot holes are drilled with 1/8" bit, and then I used a countersink bit to make the holes conical. Countersink bits are used to to make screw heads flush or slightly below flush with the surface.

Dirty Marbles. It's similar to aggravation and usually made as either 4 or 6 player game, but I made this one 6 or 8 player.

what is that bit you put in your drill at the end?

That is a countersink bit. They are for making a conical depression so the head of a screw can be below the surface rather than protruding.
