@@IllustratorSmithit’s definitely disrespectful, that kid beat Vito twice this season and he’s a redshirt freshman. Vito’s probably the oldest guy in the tournament beside grandpa Fix. I like Vito but he does some cry baby shit then loves to act tough when people do shit like that to him.
@IllustratorSmith
@IllustratorSmith Ай бұрын
@@ryantascone disrespectful is fleeing and playing the edge rather than actually wrestling. It’s cowardly and nobody wants to watch that. That is beyond soft to find that disrespectful. He didn’t flick him off, he pointed to the center to say let’s wrestle. You have completely missed the mark on what respect and disrespect is

Idk if I've ever seen a bigger tantrum than Swiderski, it legit reminds me of how some of the youth wrestlers acted in the tournaments I had to ref, being held by his coaches while he screams through tears at another coach is just ridiculous for someone his age to be acting

I was actually there live and Jordan was actually injured pretty bad so he was stalling rightfully so. He had a big lead got injured and didn’t want to risk it anymore by wrestling hard . He did end up pulling out of the finals as well because of the injury so ik he was not taking it.

And yo, what's with referencing Vito pointing to the center of the mat being associated with dirty? Or maybe that's not what you meant? What he was doing was, rightly, drawing Crookham to the center to wrestle, instead of letting him hover over to the side when he can circle and "wrestle" actively out of bounds to defend against a takedown without getting called on stalling. He had too far of a distance to pull it off from center. That was Vito watching film and spotting that tactic, so he played chess back and said nope. We're wrestling in the center where I have space to complete takedowns. And it worked. He essentially solved Crookham. That's in a different category called smart wrestling that won a championship.

He said in the video, it wasn't dirty. Just funny, and he had to put it in the video.

Let's just make sure we're not wanting PGA tour golf clap level of intensity and decorum. It's freaking wrestling, it's intense, it's competitive, it's passionate especially at this level, it freaking matters in the moment, and what the hell would we have if we didn't have those emotions flair up some? Let's not have a hair trigger on the "bad look" judgment call. Some of those are bad sportsmanlike dick moves, yes. Ferrara or however you spell it is a hot head and can be a dick...not having to do with a bad call or something related to that. Call him out all day. Some of that is kind of that but very minor. And the anger over getting away with stalling...you know, the demand for activity that isn't stalling is a core part of the sport. You absolutely are supposed to lose points for stalling your way out of a match. That there was visible frustration by ISU and Penn State for those two matches makes total freaking sense. Kind of a robbed situation really. More for the ISU kid than Penn State probably. And I also admire John Smith...I remember going to an Olympic qualifier meet as a 7th grader where he wrestled on his way to an eventual Olympic gold later...I remember some wrestling camps he coached at with Leroy, his older brother...probably the best coach of the family (maybe). I respect the hell out of him. But John also yaps from the side of the mat like a coach can, and his boy didn't wrestle the way he did. John would NEVER have stalled that way to a win. Partly because he wouldn't have gotten away with it, and partly because he attacked on takedowns as well as anyone in history. His boy stalled, that's all there is to it. So what if the ISU kid got hot over that for a moment. How can you not understand that? I think "bad look" is a poor take these days because it is based on such sensitivity and sets off on a hair trigger. We need to get our thick skins back, and then talk about keeping cool heads and constraining bad behavior when it actually gets bad.
