Scott Bloomquist’s time at the top has not been without controversy and the interview touches on his various legal issues and suspensions over the years. Scott is open on the subject and explains to Dale Earnhardt Jr. and co-host Mike Davis how his appearance and success have led others to assume the worst about him. The infamy that came with the arrests boosted Scott’s reputation and ultimately led to him becoming a colossal figure in the sport.

Scott once told me on the front straightaway at the Topless 100 " Half of them love me, half of them hate me, but they are all hear to see me" and he laughed. He was exactly right! I was the flagman for two of his Topless wins. He is on the Mt Rushmore of Late Model racing!

Watched this guy show up late to Virginia motor speedway, pull the car out set the air in the tires, fuel the car and warm the engine while pushing the car to tech.. than go right out and destroy the track record on his very first lap... then came off the track and spent the next 45 minutes talking to fans in the pits.. dudes such a nice guy. He's an incredible late-model set up guy.. as good as he in the car he's even better at the tech setup of these cars..

I have a great memory with Scott Bloomquist. My grandson and I were walking around at Lucas Oil in Wheatland MO and I noticed you sitting in the spectator lounge. First time I got to see Scott race live was April 2011 at Bedford speedway . His pit was straight across from my seat. He ran hot laps, pulled in and they unloaded the backup car… they pulled both engines and put the backup cars engine in the car he ran hot laps in… started it with maybe 10min before time trials and set a new track record at that time. First sub 19sec lap ever and dominated the feature. Been a fan ever since!

That dude is on another level. That is what has made him so successful is his brain is always thinking and he obviously only focuses on one thing at a time. So while all the BS of the world is happening around him he has the ability to turn that all off and think about making his race car faster and getting the maximum grip. And yes I’ve seen him arrive after heat races and qualifying have started and have to start at the back of the B features to come all the way through to win just to start at the back of an A feature to come all the way through and win.
