This video was originally made for robot enthusiasts who might be interested in using parts from the Hasbro toy for other purposes. Please note that the electronics inside the droid, the printed circuit boards more specifically, are not user serviceable. The control electronics are potted in epoxy and so cannot be repaired. I have had many requests for advice on how to repair an inoperative droid. I do know the electronics can fail for unknown reasons, and I have not been able to find a way to repair them, nor do I have the parts to do so. This video is for informational purposes only.
This video describes how to disassemble and remove the electronics from the Hasbro Interactive Voice Controlled R2-D2. It is intended for the private use of robot hobbyists/hackers and specifically for members of the R2-D2 builder's club in converting their full-size droid replicas to voice control.
