I think the way Aizawa's power works is that it is ranged but whoever he looks at, until he blinks, has their power locked. So, he doesn't necessarily have to be looking directly at them.

We know from MVA and Toga that quirks can have an impact on one's personality and actions. Toga's quirk gave her a fascinating with blood and she was never given quirk counseling to deal with that. So she eventually gave into her quirk's desires. We know AFO and OFA contain the spirits of former users along with their emotions and that the former users can communicate with them. So you combine a quirk being used to influence thoughts and actions with a past user who can enforce their own will and you essentially have a sentient quirk. A quirk with a will of its own. Shigaraki is trying to stay true to himself but the quirk is trying to force him to do what it wants. Which also sort of falls in line with the Doctor's quirk doomsday theory. The idea that quirks will eventually become so powerful that they destroy society. Not just a quirk that makes the user physically stronger, but a quirk that does more than influence personality. A quirk that essentially devours the user. Until the personality quite literally merges with the quirk. A scary thought.

It's *drugging* someone that's illegal (and possibly also because Class 1-A only has provisional licenses). The real world equivalent would be cops drugging the people they arrest. It's too easy to accidentally kill someone that way: you have no idea what this person's medical history is and can only guess at their weight.

As powerful as Shigaraki is in this fight, I’m of the opinion Machia is the strongest person in the show at this point. Shigaraki forcing the bully and the victim to fight together is just an INCREDIBLE thing to see, and much more for Aizawa to watch it happen to SPECIFICALLY save him AS they quote his teachings is AMAZING. Guy has to be scared for his and his student’s life, these are his children more than anyone else and he also can’t be any prouder. Gran Torino gave All-Might a lecture about hesitating with Shigaraki because his lineage is so important to THEM but not him. And Gran Torino is the one to end up hesitating. Guy doesn’t even know who he is anymore. That’s gotta hurt Gran Torino more than anything else. And that training with All-Might by the way is a testament to how amazing he was. In his prime I bet you anything he was just as strong as Nana Shimura. And that’s why All-Might has PTSD of him. Now we know hes lesser than 1/60th All-Might but for that kind of power to be maintained into his NINETIES? Means he was MUCH greater before. And let’s not forget, the man has ACTUALLY survived full blows from both AFO AND All-Might and HE is still out here! That’s just OUTSTANDING! Also Midnight asking 30 kids to inflict status as their best chance is just a testament to how unstoppable Machia is. She just knows NOW nothing can physically stop it. And if those containers are anesthetic, that’s a TON. You only need a SHOT, he needs a full WATER BOTTLE worth. Also Vlad King is no longer a traitor suspect for me. Weird thing to bring up now, but the man leaping after Midnight before he was colored in looked EXACTLY like Vlad King. The hair and build had me thinking even at THIS point in the story Vlad King could be revealed as a Liberation Hero turned Villain. But the anime seals off the possibility. I only have one true suspect left. Shigaraki having an internal fight with AFO is such an AMAZING idea. It’s a perfect inverse of the vestiges of OFA which were kind enough to wake Deku up from Shinso’s brainwashing in season 2. WILDLY unneccessary, but they wanted to step in and help when he most desired it. So they wiggled his fingers. And while Endeavor is in ballpark with Injured All-Might, he can’t maintain that kind of output and has to work himself to it when necessary. All-Might just…can. And it’s why Endeavor says everyone builds up experience and processes it together til they do it subconsciously. Except All-Might. He for whatever reason just….did. So that’s why Shigaraki can just swat away his attacks. And “Vanishing Fist” is SUCH a great move. There’s so much fire he’s literally disappearing in it. Endeavor has BEAUTIFUL fights. His Phoenix wings, his razor fires, his explosions, the way he moves, I just get SO much joy watching him work. Number 1 represent!
