I used one of these with two 8" Rockville powered tops for my edrums. I would play along with music and have this at very high volume running through my Alto mixer for hours straight. The amps on the back of the 8" speakers would be fairly warm but not really HOT. And because this doesn't have a fan the subwoofer was a bit warm too. Of course we're talking high volume for hours straight. This was set up in my basement and you could hear it several hundred feet down the street.. a lot of air comes out of the ports making a fair bit of wind noise. I ran it like that for more than a year before selling to a local DJ that plays high schools. He's had it running for a couple years now and they haven't given out yet.

TEST the PBG-18 witha RPA-16 amp. from Rockville.. actually 2 PBG-18s hooked up to a RPA-16...

I've had seismic audio cabs since 2009. I was of their first customers. Still banging out music with 1000s of hours of music.

I have experience with this unit. It will work great for small spaces. But it will thermal shut off after 2 hours if u push it for 2 hours. It really needs a cooling fan which they didn't include. I actually installed 2 fans to it. And then u can run it for 5 hours with clip light blinking. I never use it for massive events just ur 80 to 100 with 10 inch tops.

I just commented on this video saying the same thing. How the amp is sitting in a shoe box style pocket. I drilled 1/4 holes all over that pocket and will be adding. 2 fans also. Thanks for your input because i was wondering if it was gonna help. Try drilling holes in th3 amp pocket for vent. @@charithasirimanna5033

Disclaimer: I have this sub. It gets way hot too fast. If you remove the back amp you will see it's sitting in anon vented shoe box like pocket. I had to drill holes and add a pair of fans. There is no video with that info and people are buying this giving it bad reviews. Rockville needs to fix that. Sounds great tho.

I have Rockville PBG-18's 4 of them with 2 RPA-16 amps. from Rockville.. Not a LICK of trouble using them every day at half to 3/4 output.. No over heating no distortion no nothin in the way of break downs.. Why spend a bundle on a BRAND NAME??!!

In the video you said the signal was clipping when the volume was set too high. That can't happen. Only gain can distort the signal. A volume control can't. Something else was going on in the system or you were adjusting gain and didn't realize it. As for using "xlr cables". that may, or may not help. If the signal going through it is balanced, then you should end up with an extra 4-6db output. However, in most cases, using "xlr cables" makes no difference whatsoever. A balanced cable has a 3rd pin/conductor to handle the 2nd signal needed for a balanced connection. Most of the time the 3rd pin is not actually used, and that makes it identical to using a pair of rca cables. a simple way to check is to switch back and forth between a single ended and balanced connection. If the xlr cables are the same volume as the rca cables, its a single ended connection. If the signal going through the xlr cable is balanced, it should be louder compared to the rca. This test is not an absolute guarantee, but the results should be accurate 85-90% of the time. There are other ways to test that will be 100% accurate, but if you hear a volume difference between the 2, you should be fine.
