Great looking shop, nice and clean. I've worked in a few shops as a die cutter and you don't often see them so well maintained. I'll definitely be coming your way once my project is ready!

Your videos are always so instructive and impressive. I love seeing the incredible machinery that you have going in each step of the process. Makes me think your prices are quite reasonable considering the investment in all that equipment (I know I sound like a shill). Very cool video! I love that you do these. It's interesting to see the entire process. Two things though...1 - I know you guys also own Oasis and you mentioned Disc Makers is the only company that makes both the discs and the Digi-packs but I thought Oasis did also? 2 - I think Digi-packs are very cool and am working on a new album and was contemplating going that route for the first time. The only issue is with Digi-packs if the little tabs that hold the disc in break you're screwed? With a standard jewel case you can replace it. I wish there was a fix for that?

Uh... you caught me! Yes, Oasis' Digipaks are also made in the same factory. As far as the center rosette (as it's called) breaking, our experience is that unlike with Jewel Cases, it almost never happens with the Digipak. Usually when they break it's because there is too much pressure on the machine that inserts the disc in the tray. I don't know if it's because the whole Digipak package is more flexible than a jewel case, but it doesn't happen a lot with Digipaks.

If you like bad edges,colour missing on corner,bended products its the way to go! Cd buyers only like jewel case format.

What kind of paper is fed into the print machine initially?

I would like to see the insertion of booklets in the process. I believe that's what made Discmakers miss my ship date.

Depending on the booklet it may be inserted automatically or manually. It's calculated into the turn time you're quoted. Fact is, any of two dozen different processes can cause a delay. Usually our on time record is very strong, but when a piece of gear breaks down, a delay can occur. Which is why we advise artists not to wait till the very last minute to order their discs. :)

<a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="180">3:00</a> in he says they don't charge extra for certain coatings, yet I just got a quote for a gloss vs. a matte finish, with matte being $25 more expensive. That's really frustrating.

Yeah sorry, that is a recent change that was made some months after this video went live. We don't charge extra for gloss UV, but the matte is a bit trickier to do.

Do you guys replicate pressed colored CD for albums?

Colored CDs are generally not made, because the colors in the plastic affect the reading ability of the laser in the player. We can, of course, print any color you want on the top surface of the disc.

For some reason I felt sad for the guys who have to rip the extra unprinted paper away and do the packing process maually. In such a highly automated factory the rest of the work left for humans seems so overly siplified that I can't get around how any human can even bare to do such simple work. I get it that there needs to be inspectors for quality, and that's why it is good to have a human hand in between the different process steps, but according to this video the guys are acting more like robots themself than quality checkers. Thay almost even look like robots. I think I didn't detect a single smile from anyone except the presenter of this video. But otherwise it's a very nice and interesting system you have there. And the video was interesting. Sorry for my comment to have bit of a negative tone in it.

Ha, I can assure you nothing is farther from the truth. We're talking to our team all the time to get their ideas about how to do better for the client, how to run a more efficient operation, etc. The vibe is great in our factory, and we have almost no staff turnover, which I take as a good sign.
