It's from EDIT:(Heraklitos) : 'The word having been shared, the people live as though they have their own wisdom'

I think this is Heraclitus

@@nts4906 You are completely correct, this is from Heraklitos, fragment 2. Edited the original for correctness.
@Loutr0n3 ай бұрын
It's not "the word" ; "Logos" refers to rationality here, the human faculty to understand (and thus express) the order of the cosmos ; in other words we should be able to establish a common view of how the world works (since we have the same tool : the logos), but individuals think they know better
@therat11173 ай бұрын
@@Loutr0n 'word' is still a superior translation, although 'idea' might also work. Heraklitos is not referring to abstract reason here (the word for that in Ancient Greek is λογισμός, not λόγος), but his own idea of how people should live. He is complaining that people do not live according to what he has told them is wisdom, and are instead interpreting things for themselves. Heraklitos is very bitter and misanthropic.
@nts49063 ай бұрын
@@therat1117 No, you are wrong about this interpretation. “Thinking for yourself” is inferior because it amounts to freedom to think falsehood. The many want the truth to be what they desire, their personal truth. But the rational truth is singular and independent of the individual thoughts and desires of individuals. That is what is being expressed here. No intelligent person ever values “freedom of thought.” The only thing that matters is whether those thoughts are correct or incorrect. You are committing the exact same fallacy that Heraclitus is calling out 2500 years later. Literally having learned nothing 🤣

God dammit, half-light being the one who gives you the most true-to-reality copotype. Youre no superstar, vicious art critic or total pushover but Harry has correctly theorised about the pales role in bringing about the end of the world.
@sarahtwycross4222 ай бұрын
Part of the joke is that it's confirmation bias (because Harry being psychic not implicitly 'real' even if we know it is) - If you picked Apocalypse Cop, you were already expecting the world to be ending as a coping mechanism, and then on finding out that it is what that ending looks like shifts around it.

This comes up after you’ve chosen apocalyptic dialogue options four times. It’s what offers you the choice to internalize the Cop of the Apocalypse thought. If that’s the first copotype you internalize, you then become Apocalypse Cop
