In its nearly 70 years in business, Kentucky Fried Chicken has grown from a humble gas station restaurant to a massive multinational fast food giant with more than 25,000 locations in nearly 150 countries. A few menu items are synonymous with the chain worldwide: bone-in fried chicken, biscuits, and mashed potatoes and gravy, to name a few.
Other menu items are a bit more fleeting. Sometimes they're attempts to capitalize on a food fad, sometimes they are meant to challenge a competitor's offering. And occasionally they just really go out on a limb and make some fans in the process. Here are some discontinued KFC items we desperately miss.

When they switched from their potato wedges to these potato fries, they completely lost me. I used to love their potato wedges. Particularly when I was able to put some sea salt on them and then dip them in hot sauce... Now that was good eating! It's been a long time since I've been to KFC. I really miss those wedges.

They also had rotisserie chicken called "Rotisserie Gold" in the summer of 1991. I always would get a half of chicken. Also KFC had spicy breaded chicken in the late '80's

I loved their bar-b- que from 70-80, used to get a bucket sized container and didn't always share with others. And I, to this day, hate, loathe and abominate COLD CHICKEN- For ME it's HOT or NOT!

Little bucket parfaits and potato wedges. I miss those. One that I really miss that no one remembers. The Twister from the mid 90s. It was a cold chicken wrap with bacon, ranch, lettuce and tomato all rolled in a tortilla. It was great.

The Lemon Parfait…the snacker…the wedges…the original version Mac n cheese! They got rid of the good stuff so I haven’t been there n YEARS! 😂

WOW how do you not mention the LEGENDARY (but discointnued) KFC honey bbq wings? should have been #1 on the list. I still can't comprehend why they would get rid of them other than something along the lines of them being made with a super dangerous ingredient, probably crack. they were the greatest wings ever even though they were more of a wing ding than a typical chicken wing.

I'll add one other item from the KFC past that deserves to be on the list. During the late 80s or early 90s they introduced a whole roasted chicken called the Rotisserie Gold Chicken. It was, IMO, the best rotisserie chicken I've ever had.

I never had it but it sounds delicious. I live in Louisiana and there are very few KFC'S. Popeyes is everywhere and I just don't care for crispy chicken. Original recipe for me!!!

They still offer livers and gizzards in certain markets. They offer them here. Used to be Wednesdays only but I dont like liver so never checked lately. My grandpa used to order them alot.

I miss the desserts! I would go just for them. They should bring those back. They have changed the recipe, the chicken is not as good as it used to be.

They changed the oil the chicken is fried in. It has a God awful aftertaste that makes me want to throw up.

I was stationed on a missile site in the Everglades in the late 70's. At that time KFC offered Kentucky Fried livers and gizzards.

Didn’t mention the honey bbq wings. They would sit in the glass case and were sticky and crisp. Used to get several boxes and they were a hit at parties. Close to the end of their existence, they would just dump bbq sauce over fried chicken and hand them out. Not the same. To bad they killed off a great product.

In Japan in the 80’s they had a fried chicken breast sandwich that was like a full size version of the dollar menu one with a pepper Mayo on it that was amazing. So simple yet so good.

Someone explain to me why KFC could not sell nuggets well enough to keep them permanently. 1) Not everyone likes bone-in chicken. 2) Nuggets are easier to eat especially on the go. 3) Nuggets appeal to kids. So why does McDonald's still have chicken nuggets, but KFC (a chicken restaurant) does not? That makes no sense.

Years ago KFC tried skinless chicken. Not long after they came out with popcorn chicken. Turns out they were taking all that chicken skin, wadding it up, breading it and selling it as legitimate food.

Before the Snacker, the Double Down and the Twister (my favorite) KFC had introduced a few sandwiches at once including a Barbecue Chicken sandwich, a grilles chicken sandwich and a Double Crunch sandwich. I loves those and hated when they disappeared but the Twister was a freat replacement.

Back in the early 80's my mother used to get us KFC Fish and Chips. I think they were summer time only. Also, the BBQ chicken was amazing.

I'm a little too young to remember Kentucky nuggets but I bet they were FIRE. Fast food recipes and ingredients were still tasty in the 80s- early 90s so I just KNOW these had to be delicious.

I don't remember that, but back in the I guess early 80's the KFC in my town sold huge burgers and if I remember correctly they were delicious. It's so hard to find a good burger anymore.

In the UK Kentucky Fried Chicken ( that's what it was called in the 70's) served spare ribs.The best meal for me was a combo of chicken, ribs, chips and beans) They were amazing and to this day I don't know why they stopped selling the ribs!

The Twister was the best thing they ever had. They should bring it back permanently, along with the parfaits and potato wedges. The last few times I've visited a KFC it was sorely disappointing: lack of variety, lack of value, and mediocre quality. They no longer give you enough to justify their prices.

My favourite thing was the Twister. I used to get a Honey BBQ Twister, where the chicken was dipped in the sauce. I even grew to love the Pepper Jack sauce. That was the shit. I loved the snackers as well. When they came out with popcorn chicken, I wanted to take it to the movie theatre.

When I was a kid, late 70's early 80's, the KFC in my small town served a giant cheeseburger, and from what I remember it was delicious.

I miss the bbq chicken from the 90s and I'm not talking about the wings. It was the original style covered in BBQ sauce but it was absorbed by the chicken skin. It was truly finger licking good!

So for the boneless honey bbq wings I would always get and they made them very well every time.they actually brought them back,I got them about 2 months ago, problem is they were made on bone in chicken wings but poured BBQ sauce over them leaving uncovered spots.i love bone in wings but from KFC the BBQ wings were a hit to me and can't understand what's going on with the ones I ordered.

KFC used to serve Hot & Spicy flavored fried chicken in the 90s that was so good. Better than Popeye's. Unfortunately, haven't been able to find it in over 20 years. What happened????
