Now as a person with absolutely no will to live, I mean with no coding experience, this doesn't seem like a big deal to me. And boom baby, that's why I did some light reading and extracted the important information that affects us chronically online Discord users.
Imagine a world where you could have actually fun games for Discord activities. Imagine a world where you could get a Discord bot to type out responses to questions you get asked every day that slowly chip away your mental sanity. Imagine a world where Discord gives you advertisements.

My little sister had discord banned at her middle school because she was caught using discord on the school computers and got in major trouble because they had to pay to get the IT guy to come out and specifically ban discord.

Right? I already don't know a single person that ever uses the activities, and yeah, sure, they suck, but also like... Steam exists and it's really easy to just get into it there. I can see from an indie dev perspective why getting onto discord for advertising would be useful, but I don't understand from the average consumer perspective why someone would choose to buy a game on discord instead of steam like is probably an ingrained habit already. (Competition is good, but I *highly* doubt that the average gamer is going to say "Yeah, I just don't want steam to have a monopoly, so I'll go buy this game on the untested discord feature instead of steam which has existed for years with no signs of stopping.)

@@alestrius My friends and I all play activities all the time and I constantly see activities going in the servers I am in so I think that's just a thing with your specific circle tbh. Discord wouldn't keep working on activities if they weren't popular.

If you didn't know, discord activities are just embeeded WEB games, so nothing that is not web-based would be portable

The visual novel my community made was just a webapp until we moved to Unity. Even now you can hook up a Unity game to work with it so; yeah this will be interesting to see.

"Better"? The way activities work is way too simple and doesn't need any type of authentication from the user. It's litearally a webpage () you load and Discord displays it WITHOUT SHOWING THE URL. This means new scams are going to be popping up having "verification bots" that ask you to start an activity to fill a captcha but instead display a fake discord login page because you won't be able to see the URL you're actually looking at. Good job, Discord!

Thousands of people use them lol what are you saying? I was just in an event last night playing the gartic phone activity that had 20+ people show up. I constantly see activities going in the servers I'm in. As better activities get added theyll be used even more.

There’s also a poll function that was added by discord for a few servers, actually I think some of the servers turned off the perms to use it but now I could only see it in one of my servers

About 2 days ago a new feature entered a server of my. A Discord integrated polls. I love it :D it looks clean, shows every relevant information but so discretely that you only notice it if you want to..

Discord already tried the "we want to compete with Steam" marketplace thing, didn't work out. If anything, this custom Activities stuff will be competing with things like Gartic Phone. Not Steam tho. I anticipate it be be close to DOA.

Assuming that's the AHK code that you use, it doesn't look like it's written poorly at all. Although I would tend to think that a lot of it was just copy-pasted so maybe the stuff that was shown wasn't a part that contained much of your unique code.
