With 12 weapons coming back as Brave, Succession made the list. I never got a good one back in the day and when I saw it come back I wasn't interested. However, they placed discord as a new perk and it changes how you can use a sniper rifle. It's really impressive the play loops you can do.

Also, as with any review I'm not saying to main this thing everywhere. My main attraction to it is the big damage bait and switch combo. I want it for when snipers get a surge and when they come back in the artifact. Things like solo lost sectors the discord loop is good (and also you saw it can one shot body in a GM). It's a good tool to have.

I also recommend Recombination. Lots of kills from an element of your choice and now you have a "fuck that yellow bar in particular" gun.

I have a reconstruction and vorpal roll. But I'm currently grinding for a reconstruction and recombination roll now because of that reason.

The fact that the ammo is basically free for building up that shot while easily whittling down those red bars means it’s goated as hell, now I know what I want to target for the sniper.

I'm sorry but no you are still correct. Discord is good but way more situational and dangerous then icebreaker ever would be. the steps and use case of discord requires so much set up and steps to actually be good versus just having a gun equipped aka icebreaker

Frankly at this point I think the power level of the really good purples vs the average exotic has been kinda stabilized. A lot of purples doing things exotics can't do while also not taking an exotic slot. The boys in yellow need something insane to kick themselves back up a notch.

Icebreaker would not have been broken for a fairly long time. Generating ammo is nice, but the ways we have to pull special ammo from thin air are too great, not to mention all they would need to do would be maybe dial back the time to generate a round by a little bit. It wouldn't be busted as of witch queen. That's a hill I'll die on, because it's correct.

@@LuisHGarciaIf they're willing to actually split the PvE and PvP sandboxes for once, nothing. A one tap primary in checkmate would be Impossible to balance, and it's so slow it would be useless if it didn't one tap. That said if you ask me I'd make NLB a special anyways. Ammo picked up or generated goes directly into the mag so you're literally never reloading, and then it's just the half second bolt throwing animation.

Recombination has to be bugged. It usually shows the stacks and it doesn't go away when you stow the gun, only when it's fired.

Showing the stacks even when stowed? Sounds more like the UI is bugged while bungie is producing the UI changes in the background. Not a gun bug. But hey having the stacks always on screen to remind me of what i have in my pocket? Sounds good to me! 😂😂 Hasnt happened to me with this weapon roll though.. In all honesty. You might be having a frame cap issue.

Recombination stacks are supposed to persist until you fire the gun. The whole idea is that you can build up the stacks intermittently and then use a massive shot on a major or boss

I think it is also bugged since Into the Light. Previously I would build up the max 10 stacks (and I thought the UI specifically said # of stacks?), switch to Succession & use 3 - 4 shots, then switch back to energy weapon to get another 3 - 4 kills to get back to max 10 stacks. Now it's like the entire gun resets when you swap off it, even if you don't use any shots? That's an outright nerf but hopefully it's a bug...

Small correction @5:55 you can get Succession to 5 rounds in the magazine with extended mag and backup mag. My favorite pairing with the Discord Recombination Succession is Buried Bloodline. As long as devour is up, the Bait and Switch loop includes Buried Bloodline's weaken effect.

I can proudly say CoolGuy has taught me a lot, & that for the last 3 months (only been playing D2 seriously since Lightfall) I've been able to sort out what new weapons will be good & what they'll be be best at (best perks) before CoolGuy drops a video verbalizing what I've suspected. As a person who’s played since right before lightfall I salute you. This game has so much stuff to learn and do and if you come into it like us it’s overwhelming. Plus the fomo is so Hard to Fight when I think of all the older weapons and exotics etc to go get. It just takes too much time and grind tho so you have to pick and choose what’s worth it. Like take revision zero for example. To get that and upgrade it solo took me so many hours it’s insane. And that’s just one gun.

If you like Discord on Succession, Last Man Standing and A Sudden Death NEEDS to be talked about. I am surprised the PvP side has not caught on yet. EDIT: The important thing is to have fun! If you're comfortable using meta, completely fine but if you want to explore it is well worth it. That is the beauty of this game, it is finally getting that variety back :)

Discord is a phenomenal perk for PvP. The issue is the weapons they’re on, aren’t good inherently so it’s almost not worth it. I’d rather guarantee a kill, then guarantee ammo and risk a kill.

People realize, Discord just is mid in PvP. Good players in 3s are not giving you those kills reliably enough for Discord to be useful, and nobody cares about 6s enough to min-max a loadout like this.

It can work on A Sudden Death because you can still get opening shot, it's col 4 on Last Man Standing and unless you want that roll for pve with pugilist, it just doesn't have the stats to hang.

@@wahran0898just gotta get that Handling up and put on Quick Access Sling. LMS has more help w Threat Detector being a combo. If the low Handling is the weak point, it'll all be washed away w the Exotic class item w the Ophidian perc, or if you are a Warlock the Aspect

Problem here is you could just craft Supremacy with Rewind and Bait and Switch or Tremors and do more damage, as it's a rapid-fire frame.

I got the discord recombination and it's so much fun, plays so well into my playstyle, kill ads as usual with your primary, swap and hit a large shot, in between use it for free ammo. Made unlocking succession quest easier too.

ive been rocking a last foray with discord + incandescent for a while now and it SHREDS adds. instanly procs incadescent because of the instant kills and you get a LOT of ignitions. one of my favourite add clear weapons currently

I've got a last foray with discord+incandescent that fits the "get crazy stupid with sniper ad clear" role nicely What I'd love is a buff to redirection because using discord to build up redirection stacks to store big boy damage also sounds fun, but as it stands recombination is just straight up better

Hi coolguy! Guess im early, ive really been enjoying my reconstruction focused fury roll, ever since i learned that focused fury procs off the base mag size, all i need is 2 shots to activate it and now i have 6 shots of 20% more damage and it works great for dps or on majors. I never really was a huge discord fan but i can totally see the applications for it in pvp, personally i prefer a sniper i can swap to at any time just for convenience sake, but i am willing to test it out, as for pve, it seems like a bit more effort than needed for the payoff, especially considering how powerful primaries have gotten in endgame pve, but once again, i see the vision. To be fair. There is no effort in PvE. Low tier adds are everywhere and all you need is one kill to activate it. Paired with redirection, it's the best damage option.

Coolguy, without sounding snotty, how is this weapon this first to do this? You said that and initially i was like " oh cool new perk on a sniper" then looked up that discord is on A LOT of other snipers....and I'm actually seeing way more interesting perk combinations on those. Supremacy has a lot of the same roles and it's rapid fire for deeper ammo reserves, Locus can roles Discord over-under for increased damage to shields, Distant Pull has discord/overflow which I'm about to craft, Naeems Lance with Discord/slice, Last foray with Discord/Cascade (incand, Thresh), and like three more I appreciate the video, didn't understand the true strength of discord on a sniper!

The Reconstruction + Focused Fury roll is gnarly. Six shots in the mag, two to proc FF, four gravy chasers. If you add a mag mod, that's two followed by six shots. Not for cleaning ads, but for beefcake deletions? Pretty fun.

Got a shiny roll that's Discord/No Distractions + Recombination/Redirection; *and* got Arrowhead + Handling Masterwork. Also! Discord + Boxed on Last Foray. It's only this season, but if it's a 3-mag you get 1-shot radiant/ignitions. It's ludicrous. Farmed one out just to have dumb fun with it and it's actually held up in Onslaught. Cleans whole waves in a single shot on Vostok or Mothyards.

Discord and redirection is probably the best damage option on this in PvE, unless you want to go with the typical options that are widely available on every other sniper (which you'd want to use on rapids anyway). It's not something we've seen before. Especially when we get access to enhanced perks. You just have to maximise mag size.

I actually have a shiny with tactical mag, reconstruction/discord, and redirection/recombination. I absolutely love the game of discord and redirection, makes me actually enjoy a sniper as much as my kinetoc tremors supremacy. I will try recombination but i do enjoy redirection a ton, and if i need to before a boss i can put on reconstruction with full redirection stacks to just unload, and once we get enhanced traits this god god roll shiny will be even better. Tldr i normally hate snipers but unique ones like this and kinetic tremors supremacy that adds a little mini game to using a sniper is so much fun

I got a perfect shiny with discord and reconstruction and recombination in the final column. I wasn't really excited about it, but after this video, I'm gonna have to try it out. Also, you CAN get five in the mag. If you have extended and then put on a backup mag mod, the magazine gets up to 5

I don't know if you mentioned this in the Naeem's Lance video, but seeing the Discord discussion up top which I will watch I have to mention that I have a Naeem's Lance with Discord and Deconstruct, and I pulled it out to grind out the Brave quest for this sniper and I had to wonder if you thought about the particular ammo economy that comes with that Discord/Deconstruct combo. Because, I don't know if I'm missing something but there's like, just from what I was doing I was gaining more ammo over time in using that thing as an Ad Clear sniper if I'm not mistaken,

The Supremacy from Last Wish also rolls left column Discord and is Kinetic for that extra +15% damage, though it's a rapid fire instead so you can get more shots off but each shot won't hit quite as hard but could make it easier at clearing adds especially with the 40 zoom, would probably work as a good pairing with Enhanced Kinetic Tremors. (Will the Kinetic Tremor waves also refund ammo if Discord is active?) Similarly in the energy slot the Adaptive Frame Uzume from Nightfalls can get Discord + Incandescent if you're using a sniper more as an add-clearing option, or you could go Discord + Deconstruct and just have infinite ammo all the time.

Discord and redirecting is such a nice idea, only issue is that you need a lot of kills, I figure is safe to have recombination and reconstruction, just to have shots ready while doing a damage phase or mowing down yellow bars.

I've been playing with Discord since the Macabre came out and the playstyle of being "reckless" with sniper ammo just feels so satisfying. It just gets rid of the stress of missing headshots in PVE and I feel like I use snipers like Supremacy in other loadouts more often now.

I found that extended mag + Reconstruction + focused fury is pretty good for DPS. If you pair it with Whisper you can get a really nice phase too.

Have 2 shinies one with Discord/Moving Target + Recombination/Box Breathing as well as another with Reconstruction/Demolitionist + Recombination/Redirection. Although the perfect roll would have been Discord/Reconstruction + Recombination/Redirection (or Box Breathing) I'm pretty satisfied. Never got around to getting a craftable of the raid version but being able to double up on perks as well as get them enhance-able in TFS makes this version much more enticing to get for me than the raid version.

I've been using Last Foray from Season 21 with Discord/Incandescent and it is an absolute blast (no pun intended). Glad to see Discord on a Kinetic Sniper, this will pair so well with Graviton or Sunshot!

It should be noted that extended mag with backup mag can actually get you to 5 rounds in the mag which means after you get enhanced redirection you’ll be able to get 25 stacks and be able to use all the stacks because you’ll have 5 in the mag

If you have the RNG for it the last foray a world drop solar aggressive sniper also gets discord and focused fury or box breathing. Get a mag perk and back up mag for a 5 round mag and profit. Been rocking this combo for some time now

Just started playing with a Last Foray with Discord/Frenzy. Free damage, pairs really well with strand/stasis subclass and primary, gets you radiant with one precision kill _and_ an ignition from the artifact.

The very first BRAVE weapon I got dropped was a shiny Succession with Extended Mag, Demo/Discord and Redirection/Box Breathing and I just threw it in the vault. Without this video I would have probably never used it over my 3 year old Recon+Vorpal from the raid. Thanks

I’ve never been a sniper guy in Destiny, especially not Crucible. I messed around with this in PVE and it’s the smoothest sniper I’ve experienced in the game. I may finally give it a go in Crucible.

Can you do a video on what weapons are ok to delete if there are newer viable weapons of that type? I have quite the collection but at this point don't know which to clean up. I have vaulted a nice roll on a single weapon just to take it out and finally use it because of a new supporting build for it and it's great. I need to make space though.

Got lucky and pulled a Discord/Moving Target and Focus Fury/Snapshot shiny the other day. This thing slaps and it works really well in PvP and PvE. Just an outstanding sniper.

I got a shiny with arrowhead brake, accurised rounds, reconstruction/discord, recombination/snapshot. The ONLY thing stopping it from being absolute perfection is a reload MW... but I really can't complain.

I finally got all the discord Successions, well except firing line which I don't want. Discord snap for pvp, although I kept a couple with moving target snapshot too. For PvE Redirection is just a bit too much effort. Recombination is cool but I use a mountantop with that for a quick 1 shot damage burst, I sort of prefer that over having to hit a crit with the sniper. But the one I've used most is my 1st drop, actually a shiny, with discord focused fury and extended mag - BUT for Onslaught I switch loadouts for the boss room and use it with vorpal weapon !! It's just easy extra damage.

a role that could be better is to get a shiny with reconstruction and discord and let get up to double mag capacity, then swap. you'll have it stay at 8 bullets for any small adds, and once the boss appears, you can waste them all if you have to. its a bit more annoying to keep doing, but having the option to do it for content that requires you to be at your best, it could come in handy

i got a shiny succession earlier today with snapshot-recombination, reconstruction-discord, didnt think it was particularly appealling, i guess this video has changed that

I've tried using the ikelos sniper with seraph rounds and incandescent as an add clear special before, but not only is the special economy terrible for that (which makes complete sense), but also snipers feel just so bad in general in this game lol

I just go the tried and true Reconstruction + Focus Fury. Getting 8+ shots with a damage ramp on the third shot is pretty good in general. Discord + pretty much anything is also amazing, for add clearing from afar, but that that point, I'd rather just use Arbalest, Witherhoard, Revision Zero, or Izanagi's Burdern. I know it doesn't take up an exotic slot, but those four guns are just better by default anyway and offer more utility. If it was an energy weapon, the story would be completely different, but sadly it isn't.

never managed to get a snapshot discord roll of mechabre even though i farmed my ass off for it. really trying to get it on this now. I'm addicted to high-impacts and I'm so used to 50 zoom right now thanks to frozen orbit that even my ss/os mechabre feels wonky. really looking forward to getting this

Hey cool guy, worth mentioning that I have a back up mag and extended mag and I can get 5 in the magazine. Gives my reconstruction roll a 10 mag.

I swear Recombination used to show the stacks before. Also, Ive never heard of it going away after you stow it. I think it has to be a bug that got introduced somewhere along the way.

Why are we afraid of snipers being strong? Like if I’m in a gm and I’m able to land my shots and deal massive damage why is that so bad? I know they would step on the toes of other weapons but why is that a bad thing? That’s the purpose of a sniper is to be able to land that one powerful or multiple powerful shots to nuke a target. It’s not like we don’t have great powerful shotguns and fusions and other things like that that excel at close range to medium so I don’t get the mindset of snipers can’t be to powerful.

Being strong isn't the problem, he is talking about the fine line between strong and too strong that comes with sniper rifles being the problem. If sniper rifles step even a toe over the power line than endgame content because too easy. And with all the ways available to get special ammo on demand we wouldnt even be held back by ammo droughts. Snipers have more potential to be out of control than any other weapon type. The range, punching power, and ammo reserves thanks to mods and some exotics snipers are a balancing nightmare. I think it's fine where it is now.

The balance issue is that they are arguably the lowest risk weapon type in pve because you are able to take those shots from a distance where enemies cannot shoot back

being able to hit your shots in destiny is not a flex, the game is built around the expectation that most people can hit crits. that's the issue. it was less of a thing in the first game when everyone was on controller and broadly much worse at the game but the fact is now many people are on m+k, have years of experience, and are playing at a high frame rate which also makes hitting shots easier and more fun. it's actually kind of a nice problem to have.

Unfortunately, divinity kind of undermines a weapon that is super powerful on paper, but hard to aim in practice. It allows a weapon that should be high skill, high potential to be used at max potency too easily. Honestly divinity was a mistake.

Snipers and scouts don’t just have to be ‘not the best’ to warp the meta. Bungie has mentioned that designing encounters around effective long range options is really restrictive. A great example is shattered throne where the hallways of hobgoblins are meant to be gauntlets of death but you can cheese with a bow or scout and clear the room agonisingly slowly. Which leads to another hot take: the destiny community will default to the lowest effort method that’s a guaranteed clear. Especially when the stakes are high (like being booted to orbit for wiping in a GM). Even if that method makes the encounters take 3x longer.

Hey CoolGuy, regarding what you said at 5:56 about mag options and 4 being the max regardless of backup mag is not true. Light mag with backup mag stays at 4 like you said, so its better to run boss spec in that case, but extended mag with backup mag definitely bumps it up to 5.

The last time i used a redirection rolled weapon it was using the stacks on like red bar knights and wizards so unless it was bugged or changed ima avoid that perk

Recombination is supposed to show how many stacks you have in the buffs. It used to do it back when dsc first came out. Not sure if it’s just bugged in general right now or maybe it’s just with this gun?

With extended+ backup mag you could get 5 shots, at least on the original. I haven't tried it on the brave version.

Wait am I missing something? Or redirection is just better recombination? You get double dmg on only 5 kills and any extra kills just adds more, while recombination needs 10 for single double dmg bullet?

This is the roll that I want, because Discord/Redirection is the only change to Succession’s perk pool. Any roll that doesn’t involve those perks is craftable.
