I went to Gozo for a quick couple of days, stayed in a lovely village just outside of Victoria, After watching a couple of videos about St Lawrence & Gharb in Gozo, I was interested to find the connection, and find a hidden secret of Gharb from when it was built in the 1700s

I read somewhere once that Maltese wasn’t a written language until about the 1930s.I suppose it’s such a mixture languages that nobody got round to doing it.
@EnglishmaninMalta

I have no idea, I understood 1934, Maltese was declared the official language of the Maltese islands, alongside English. When this change occurred under the British administration, Maltese replaced Italian, which was previously also an official language of Malta

Lovely walk from San Lawrenz via Santu Petru to Gharb , done it many times If staying in any of these villages, I can recommend the Garb Rangers FC Restaurant & Bar in the centre of Gharb, with superb views towards Ta'Pinu from its first floor open terrace.

Our one time on Gozo we had a Lunch in a Danish owned Restaurant on the Island. As Danes this was obvious and I think it was normally closed at this time, but when arriving with a Tourist Bus full of guests, it of course opened for the occasion! The "window" had fallen shortly before, I think to remember, even though I later saw it still mentioned as an Attraction. It was possible to sail through a tunnel from a lake on the inside. Finn. @@EnglishmaninMalta I also asked our extra Maltese Guide (added during some tours by Maltese Law) about an "Aquaduct" (remnants) on Gozo! But she told me it was built by the English and not at all of Roman origin. Finn

You could have gone to Gharb from that first lane without turning back, its a really nice and quiet walk across the countryside that takes about 30 to 40 minutes and you pass by some really nice scenery, an old church and views down to the sea. One of my favourite walks in Gozo.
@EnglishmaninMalta

Thanks a shame, I asked a guy who lived there maybe he didn't want me to walk that way?
@jameshurle593
@jameshurle593 Ай бұрын
@@EnglishmaninMalta Roughly where you turned back there was a little lane on the left that briefly featured in your video at the beginning, a few metres long, it links back to the main road and just turn right and enjoy a beautiful walk that links back to Gharb and ends near the church.

@@EnglishmaninMalta When I go from San Lawrenz I use that lane initially as the buildings are really nice and old. Thanks for all the really nice videos you create for us to enjoy.
