n this travel video, viewers will be taken on a journey around the island of Tahiti, the most populated island in French Polynesia. Starting in Papeete, the capital, the video will show viewers the must-see sights as they travel north to a lookout with stunning views of the lagoon and ocean. They will then visit the black sand beaches that Tahiti is known for, before continuing on to the three cascades. Viewers will see the easy walk to the Faarumai Waterfall, and the slightly longer hikes to the other two waterfalls, which are still not too strenuous.
Heading towards the eastern side of the island, viewers will be shown the Blow Hole, where they can experience the force of the ocean and the sound and spray of the waves. Moving on to the southern side of the island, the video will take viewers to the Vaipahi Water Garden, where there are three different trails to explore, including a river trail with views of a small waterfall and lush tropical landscapes.
After the water garden, viewers will see the three caves on an easy path, but swimming is not allowed at any of the pools. Moving back up the western side of the island, viewers will be shown one of the white sand beaches, which may not be as fine as those in Bora Bora or More, but are still clean and pretty. Finally, the video will end back in Papeete, where viewers will be encouraged to visit Le Marche, the large public market, to discover a range of crafts, fabric, jewelry, fruits, baked goods, fish, flowers, vanilla, shells and pearls.
Overall, this video provides an excellent overview of the sights to see around the island of Tahiti and is perfect for anyone planning a trip to French Polynesia or who simply wants to experience the beauty of the island from their own home. With a minimum of four hours required to complete the tour, viewers can easily plan their own itinerary and decide how long they want to spend in each location.

Iorana("Yorana") means Hello.or Hi and Manava or Maeve(depending on which island I guess)means Welcome. And Mauruuru(roll the Rs)means Thank you. Thanks/Mauruuru for this video tour by the way. Good info. 👍

I just wanted to point out some details that most visitors aren't told when visiting my country. It should actually be written "'Ia ora na" as it is a sentence made out of 3 distinct words instead of one. We use it as a greeting formula, but the meaning is greater than that. If it were to be literally translated, it would be as such: May you stay alive/ May you live. It is said, but still debated, that back when human sacrifices were a thing, this would be a sentence that would be used to wish to your friends & family members not to be chosen as sacrifices. Moreover, the most important thing to note is that Tahitian is the main native language, spoken throughout French Polynesia like the french language is. However, it is not fully representative as it is one language out of five and solely the language of Tahiti. Being an administrative language, it has been standardized and is slowly taking over the other languages and their sub-dialects (such as Tahitian Raromatai, Old Rapa, Maupiti, Paumotu, Mangarevan, Marquesan, etc.). Other than that, great video! :)

I would like a tour guide my first day to get acquainted with the perimeter highlights of the island of Tahiti. Then rent a car and spend at least a couple days on my own. Does Noel and perhaps other guides speak some English? Are US dollars accepted much or should I convert to the local currency? Then travel by ferry to Moorea with the rental car. Your video is very informative and interesting!!

Noel spoke some English - he spoke more English than I spoke French. English is a third language for most folks in Tahiti. But I really like your idea of taking the first day to get the lay of the land and then using the rest of your time to explore what you loved with a little more depth and time.

US dollars are accepted, as are credit cards. I did go to an ATM and get local currency (use a card that has no foreign transaction fees). Traveling by ferry to Moorea is easy. Have you seen our Moorea video? kzfaq.info/get/bejne/i8mJh5OZzrCynaM.html

I wish I could! He is a taxi driver and I found him completely through a stroke of hood luck. When I got off the ship, I went to the taxi waiting area and showed him a list of the places I wanted to go (which I created from doing some research and memories of when I’d been there as a kid). We agreed on a price and he was awesome - he got me everywhere I wanted to go and despite the fact that I don’t speak French and he had limited English, we had an awesome day and I felt like I got to see and do everything I wanted. Enjoy your trip!
